I cant believe how difficult this printer was to work. The Canon PIXMA 3620 it was a present from my daughter so I was excited to get it working since I really needed a printer. But, after trying for 3 whole days of trying to get this to work I have given up! I know why I always maintained my loyalty to Lexmark and HP brand printers. So, easy to install and get wifi connection within 10 minutes. I canon need to invest in making their printers user friendly. Now, I probably will never use a Canon Printer product!
Wow. That was easy. It took less than 5 minutes after putting in the ink to print. I was worried about the wi-fi part but it was super easy and I didn't use a computer everything was done on my iPhone
It is FIVE years later and I'm still having the same issue most of the commenters had years ago. That is sad. I eventually got it to connect using WPS but it took a very long time for me to be able to start using this printer. I would not purchase one like this again. I think a printer with a display screen is the way to go and I will definitely go back to that the next time i need to purchase a printer.
Step One: Get your printer delivered in the mail. Step Two: Unpack it, set it up, get out the instructions, and begin the wireless connect process. Step Three: Lose all will to live.
@@MillennialReview Oh I got it, eventually. Just wasn't prepared to exert that type of mental energy that night. Sometimes things sneak up on you like that.
UPVOTE SO THAT PEOPLE CAN SEE IT: Okay guys. You should first connect your printer to the network and you are going to do it with the WPS button on your router. Make sure that your power LED of your printer is on, and wireless LED is blinking. After that you have a max of 2 minutes of time to press the WPS button of your router. After you press WPS button on your router, W-Lan LED on your router (or another special LED for WPS) will start blinking when both Wireless LED on your printer and WLAN LED on your router are constant, it means that your printer is in the network and you are ready to install. Complete the installation. At the end you will be asked if you want to make a test print. If it doesn't work don't worry. In my case it didn't work as well. After restarting my computer, everything was as they should be.
Here is how I got the printer's WiFi to start working: 1. press and hold the WiFi button. Once the power button flashes, press the color button and then the WiFi button. Now try searching for the printer again...Hopefully it will work.
@@MillennialReview I didn't buy it to use a cable. I don't know what to do. It says you have to set the printer up for set up mode to make it able to be detected by the network. It didn't work.
I know this video is old but I wanted to add my experience. I followed all steps in the directions multiple times and still was not able to connect. So I disconnected and unpaired all my bluetooth devices and was finally able to connect via Wifi. The set took only a couple of minutes. Hope this helps
Shayx3 I got it to work quickens easy, the only difficult step is holding down the wifi button until the power button flashes then pressing the color button and pressing the wifi button again this opens up the wifi for the printer ✌🏻
guys! literally the only easy way to set up the printer if you don't have a USB cable (bypassing the insane Canon instructions) is to download the Canon SELPHY app on your phone/tablet and register the printer that way. it's pretty easy! don't bother with this WPS crap.
Doesn't work. The app will send the printer the wireless information, but it completely fails after that. Despite the printer believing it is on a network, it is not recognizable by any other device on the network, and cannot even be found by the app until you manually reset the wireless settings on the printer by holding the wifi button until the power button flashes, hitting color, and hitting wifi again.
Pretty sure I figured it out. Here are the steps after you insert the disc into your pc/MAC. and follow steps. This pertains to those whose wifi is password locked. Also if your router is set up to block new devices then make sure you unblock the printer after the steps below or it'll fail to find it on your network. 1. HOLD WIFI BUTTON ON PRINTER UNTIL THE POWER BUTTON LIGHT FLASHES. 2. PRESS THE COLOR BUTTON THEN PRESS THE WIFI BUTTON AND THE WIFI BUTTON WILL FLASH. 3. ON YOUR ROUTER PRESS THE WPS BUTTON TO ALLOW ROUTER TO CONNECT TO INTERNET. your printer should be on your network now. Now continue with the steps on screen.
Just purchased an older model(mg3122) on mercari and it sucks lol. Can't get it to connect to my phone to save my life. Doesn't have a wifi button either. Just a non blinking blue light.
How do I load the paper? This is my first Canon printer and based on the picture in the start up guide, it looks like I'm supposed to load the paper in the front but I can't tell where you loaded your paper.
Cool vid. I'm setting this up now and this may sound silly but why does it need a cd to work. Why can't it just work out of the box and being plugged in? Not a tech savy person so that's why I ask.
Yeah the one step everyone is failing to elaborate on is getting this stupid printer to be found via the software or to get it to connect to the wireless network. It literally doesn't just work.... and there is no good guide to that
Everyone feeling the struggle is making me feel better. It's making me feel much less insane. ^.^ Haha. Ha. Ha. Ha ... im not crazy yet... believe me....
This driving me crazy too! I cannot get the printer to find the software/connect to wireless. I'm about to take it back to Target and buy a different brand!
Where are you all running into the issue? When you have the printer turned on, and the software searching for the printer it should just pop up. If not, you can use the google air print from chrome to find it too.
I called Canon and they said to download the app and it'll work around any connect issues with wireless - I guess it's a fairly common issue. Downloading the app is the key!
So, I was having trouble figuring out how to connect my MG3620 Canon Printer to the wifi as well. When I attempted to connect to the wifi through the "Wireless setup through USB" in the wireless section, I noticed that it was only detecting my 2.4G and not the 5G that my computer was connected to at the time. After I connected to my 2.4G network the printer had no issues connecting to the wifi on the first attempt after swapping to my 2.4G network from my 5G. Hopefully, this will help you out when you attempt your next connection to your wifi.
You did the same thing I did. You did not remove the orange tape or the orange plastic stay from the back. Luckily the printer will operate without these removed. I only found out by watching another review of this printer on RU-vid. LAUGHING OUT LOUD
Took 90 minutes to connect my iPad to the printer wirelessly. However I could not use the router which means I must connect to the printer's wifi network each time I want to print a document. That means I cannot print documents directly from online because I would have no internet connection on my iPad. I bought this this on sale for $39 at Office Max. I'll keep trying to work with it..😖
So i had to call anon tech support he had me push the wifi button, then the color button, push the WPS button on my Router for 5 sec and then voila it appeared on my phone. So I'd suggest call them let them walk you through the process nothing else was working for me and I was stressed to the max.
"you'll see it went ahead and found it." No. No it didn't. It will never find it. I bought a wireless printer and after three days of trying to have my PC find this headache wire-free, I've resorted to a USB connection.
I am plugged in via USB, my mac is recognizing the printer and it still will not communicate with the printer. I'm going to throw it out the window and see if that fixes it.
I will be returning it for a refund! I will just save a little more to get the printer I want...Lexmark or HP! Stay away from Canon PIXMA (3600) series. I think I aged a year trying to figure this thing out, it really shouldn't be this difficult. I am so disappointed! Also, Canon really need to invest more in their documentation/instructions...way too confusing and hard to understand!
@@MillennialReview I got a HP 4300 or 4400 series I dont have the specific model number w/me, but I had it up and running 12 minutes tops! Its all in the instructions procedures...if you (Canon) invest in really clear and concise instructions people probably would keep your printer...just sayin'...I had NO stress installing everything and everything worked including the remote by phone printing...Love it!
Here is an update from the comments that I posted at an earlier date. After three hours of trying to get this printer hooked up to wifi I finally did it. It worked for a couple of weeks and then it took a shit. After doing a lot of research I had to delete the printer and start all over again because the driver needed updating. That was a week ago. Now, the printer won't work again but this time I have no idea why. PLEASE DO YOURSELF A FAVOR DO NOT BUY THIS PRINTER! IT IS A TOTAL PIECE OF SHIT AND NOT WORTH THE TIME, MONEY, OR AGGRAVATION. It's in the garbage right now and has been replaced with an HP. Good riddance mother fucker!
I have a chromebook without a cd player. The printer's instructions are so confusing and I spent over 3 hours trying to get everything setup. I hate it and I think I'm going back to Windows laptop.
I like the chromebook until I need to print something. Too many steps just to print a document and getting the printer set up in the beginning was frustrating. I had an easier time setting up my smartphone to the printer. I'm sure things will get easier as chromebooks get more popular, I guess. From what I've read, many people have had trouble getting their printer set up to their chromebooks too. As far as the quality of this printer, I love it!
@@npo64 What? I just say print, and the print screen comes up. Just change the printer to the network printer on the Print menu.. You don't even need to screw around with Cloud Print. EZPZ
I'm so Fucking done with printers, they always fuck up those expensive plastic pieces of shit. Mine is exactly like this one but I forgot the password to connect my tablet to the printer wireless, (note:yes we did change the pass from the serial number) but no where can I find somebody showing how to change the password! I'm done with this printer I've being trying to fix it for 1 hour and no result. Why the fuck do they have to make the process so FUCKING complex.
My grandmother and I have been trying to set up this printer for HOURS! Called cannon support team and everything to no avail. This is the worst printer in life. DO NOT BUY 😡

One of the worst printers out there, I don’t recommend it at all, a lot of issues during installation, problems never stopped since day one!! Canon this is crap!!
