Unboxing and testing the Primeweld cut60 plasma cutter : Quick Review and test #Primeweld #Cut60
Today we do a quick unboxing, review and test on the PrimeWeld Cut60 or CUt60DP. We had lots of scrap metal and tried material between 1/8" to 1".
Hope you enjoy the video and I will be using this Primeweld plasma cutter on all my videos to really put it to the test.

Here is some information from the website.
PrimeWeld’s CUT60 Dual Voltage 110v/220v 60 Amp Plasma Cutter brings plenty of fabrication power to your shop. The 60 amp max rating cuts steel up to 7/8-inch thick. At 20 amps output, this plasma cutter will cut as thin as 22 gauge sheet metal. Like every PrimeWeld welding machine, we built the CUT60 Plasma Cutter to withstand the tough conditions found in real-world workplaces.
Dual-Voltage Input Makes It Useful at Home or Job
This plasma cutting machine features dual-voltage input with both 120-volt and 240-volt input power. It comes with a standard 3-pole 240 power cord and an adapter to plug into 120 volts. It has go-anywhere convenience that lets you tackle really tough cutting jobs, whether you have commercial power or want to plug it in at home.
POWERFUL AND READY FOR CNC PLASMA CUTTING TABLES
The PrimeWeld CUT60 110v 220v Plasma Cutter is excellent for CNC use. Plasma cutters that start the arc with high-frequency technology can interfere with digital electronics such as computers and cell phones, meaning welders can’t use them with a computer-controlled CNC plasma cutting table. This 60 amp plasma cutter solves that problem with a blowback pilot torch.
SPECIFICATIONS:
BREAKER SIZE:
(120V) 30 amps
(240V) 50 amps
PLASMA OUTPUT IN AMPS:
Arc 120 volts: 20-30 amps
Arc 240 volts: 20-60 amps
DUTY CYCLE:
60 percent @ max rating (120/240V)
100 percent @ 23 amps (120V)
100 percent @ 46 amps (240V)
AIR PRESSURE:
40-75 PSI
AIRFLOW REQUIRED:
5 CFM @ 80 PSI
AIR POSTFLOW:
0 to 60 seconds
WEIGHT:
34 pounds
Blowback torches use a buildup of air pressure against the material surface. That pressure forces the electrode backward into the torch when you pull the trigger, firing the torch arc. You can also drag start this torch by touching it to the cutting surface and literally dragging the torch. Use affordable, powerful, and high-quality 60 amp plasma cutter for production runs of precision-cut parts and for complex artwork.
CONTINUOUS PILOT ARC FOR MESH OR PERFORATED STEEL
The PrimeWeld CUT60 Plasma Cutter also offers a continuous pilot arc, cutting material like grating, mesh steel, and expanded metal with ease. When the arc is in open spaces in the metal, the torch stops cutting until it reaches another solid place, then restrikes the cutting arc.

I have their 50A plasma cutter and really like it. So much so that I also bought their AC/DC Tig machine. I'm impressed with their products and this inverter technology is just amazing to an old guy like myself. I'm mostly retired and don't work on big heavy equipment, nor do I travel to jobs anymore, so this is really all that I need. Plus, I've always got my torch for any heating and bending and any carbon steel jobs that this plasma cutter can't handle.

@cutweldngrind 2 года назад
The 50A machine I gave away was the CUT50DP and was a very light but capable machine. The Cut50 could do up to 1/2" steel clean but this machine just has some power behind it. I do not know how to TIG but I am looking into the TIG225X AC/DC machine. I do mostly hobby stuff for myself but will help others needing some welding done.

Glad to see an actual test on solid full thickness materials! Most on youtube are stacked plates to which would give even the most expensive machines a poor quality cut!!
@cutweldngrind
@cutweldngrind 2 года назад
The videos of stacked material that I saw was awful and some cuts were really bad. I was lucky to find this 1" plate that served this purpose properly.

Work for a railroad Track maintenance as a Thermite welder and our torch running off propane not acetylene . Can struggle to not cut all the way through the top of the rail you always half to cut the sides and you might get luck to where the torch gets a little past the top of the ball of the rail to where it is in the web is ideal . Great video impressed with that plasma cutter

Thanks for stopping by. I have always wanted to try using Thermite as I remember a few years back it was all over youtube. The PrimeWeld plasma cutter is a work horse and I have a job lined up for it in the next couple of weeks.

Awesome to hear that you got some materials. I bought some used 4" pipe about 15ft each and paid over $600. The plasma cutter worked really well and left me impressed. The machine is heavier than the CUT50DP I gave away but you can tell it has some serious power. I been working on the ranch digging up clay by hand but want to cut some steel again with it.

The cut60 has been an excellent machine and use it as my primary machine. I have a CNC table and you can see it running on my projects without issues. The consumables are also priced well and easy to find. The machine I started with was a Hypertherm Powermax 45 and this one soon replaced it.

Thanks. I think a 1" cut should be done on 1" plate vs a stack of plates. This plasma cutter has been great and recently ordered me the biggest set of consumables PrimeWeld offers. I do mostly 1/4" steel projects but once in a while I like to put my tools to the test. Thanks for watching.

Machines are improving over the years quickly. My powermax45 struggles where my cheaper machines exceed in cutting power. I do notice lots of people upgrading to torches that use Hypertherm consumables on their cheaper machines but mostly for longer life of consumables.

This is really impressive! I wonder if my one 60 amp 220V AC weld plug outlet would handle this and my 80 gallon compressor or maybe I need the compressor on a separate breaker?
@cutweldngrind
@cutweldngrind 2 года назад
Thanks. I used to run a powermax 45 and a 30 gallon Husky off of my Hobart engine welders 220v outlet and it would struggle a bit. I need to check if the plug is 40A or 50A rated on that welder but these compressors do draw some power. I only have 1 outlet for 220v so can't really do any testing. Thanks for stopping by.

@cutweldngrind

The air pressure stayed the same for all the plates I cut. I cant remember on the top of my head the pressure setting but I usually cut around 55psi to 60 psi (14g to 1/4"). Thanks

The first Primeweld machine I had was the Cut50DP which has pilot arc. The CUT60 is just a big powerful machine and currently used on my Plasma Table. Primeweld has exceeded all my test and thinking on grabbing a TIG machine in the near future.

Outstanding video! In your opinion is it worth the extra $ over their cut50dp for someone who won’t be doing cnc or above 1/2”?
@cutweldngrind
@cutweldngrind 2 года назад
The cut50 will cut 1/2" and thinner material fine and was a great machine that I gave away. The cut60 seems to have more power so I can do faster cuts and thicker material if needed. The Cut50 should be good for you, cheaper, lighter and think consumables were also cheaper. If you ever plan to cut thicker than half I would get the 60 otherwise get the 50DP
@JeffinTD
@JeffinTD 2 года назад
@@cutweldngrind Thanks. I think I’ll go with the 60. The ITP 60 backstrike torch alone is likely worth the price difference. Don’t need multiprocess as I have a Miller Multimatic 220 ac/dc that does everything but cut.

Dry air and 220v will get you cutting thick materials. I have used on 110v when I cut 1/8 or 1/4" materials.
