I saw Dave's video and Amazon was already out of the 40lb. Model. eBay had them for $38 and I got one. The string was shit, so I replaced it with one that had a no-glove on it. Installed a Bear plastic arrow rest and it shoots like CRAZY!!! Perfect survival bow.
I regularly get 3in groups at 15yds with the same bow. I got because it isn't center shot, like my Black Hunter, and I am drying a piece of maple to make my own longbow. Here in BC, Canada 40lbs is minimum hunting weight. From my research almost everywhere with rules, 40lbs is minimum.
Awesome! Thanks for sharing that with me... now I know for sure. Making your own bow sounds cool - what kind of wood are you finding in BC to use for making it?
Nice bow. 40 lbs would be enough to hunt deer. Use broad heads that the blade is the tip. . I use zewicky eskimo broad heads. They are single blade. My longbow is 48 lbs at 30" draw. I have taken several deer in Pennsylvania with it. 😊
50 lbs will definitely be enough.,but a lighter bow is easier to shoot. Accuracy over raw power. I watched on u tube a man made an Indian style bow and knapped his own points. And shot a wild wildboar.. the shot penetrated at least halfway to the feathers. The bow was very close to 40 lb drawl weight. He got the boar. I also do not archery hunt from tree stand. I have a seat that straps to tree. And i really like setting up in evergreen trees. Cut a few limbs to allow some movement to draw bow. I wear army old forest camo. Plus a leaf suit.over my shirt. I wash my cloths in creek water no soap. Just baking soda. And make a pine needle tea from boiling needles in water. I spray my cloths with this. I get deer alot of time within 20 yards. That 40 lb bow with the right point will do the job.. hillbilly Jeff
@@JeffreyCotle Thanks Jeff! That's some really good advice. I haven't hunted since I was a kid because my dad stopped hunting to work for the phone company, but plan to go out this year ( still have to get my hunting license )... it's one of those things I want to do on my retirement journey. I will try the creek water - baking soda, and pine needle tea spray when I do. Thanks again for sharing. 😄
It is ambidextrous... that is one of the reasons I purchased this bow so I could practice shooting on both sides. It's a "Top Archery" box, and I put a link in the description that you can click to see the exact one I bought.... hope that helps.
That's the first bow I ever bought about 4 yrs ago to see if I would even like archery! For $50 I got the bow, a cheap finger tab, an arm guard, and 12 fiberglass vanes fletched arrows. The local archery store near me tried to push a Fred Bear one piece fiberglass bow with a plastic handle for $399 .... So I got this bow off the Wish website ... It was certainly good enough to get me into doing archery and buying better bows ... I have several all from Amazon! Loving archery as a means to stay fit in my elder years! Thanks for sharing and God bless!
