When I watercolor, I use distilled water in a jar for my brush. I use a pipette (similar to an eyedropper, which would also work) to put a drop or two of water in each pan to moisten the paint-more precise, especially if you're only going to paint with a few colors.

that is so cool, would regular water be different ? is distilled water more efficient?

Tap water has impurities that can affect the watercolors-they could even get moldy over time. Dipping your fingers into a tub of paint or a medium isn't advised because it introduces contamination, too.@@NinaCraftina
