Thanks for showing healthy options for colored contacts. There are far too many influencers promoting lenses that are hazardous for eye health due to very low oxygen transmission/low DK, and worse. Lenses like Solotica, TTDYE, etc. They are being illegally sold by websites outside of the US that aren’t requiring a prescription. I ❤️ love the healthier Dailies Colors as well as the Air Optix Colors that are monthly lenses. Dailies Colors Mystic Grey & the Mystic Blue look gorgeous on you!
I know, it's crazy because people don't realize how dangerous those cheaper lenses like Solotica or Hubble are for your eyes. I was thinking of making a whole video on that too. I did on IG post on the Hubbles a while back that was well received.
Dr. Rupa Wong I’m a new sub & love ur channel! 🤗 PLEASE do a post on the dangers of these lenses like Solotica’s. The influencers may not even know the dangers themselves. (And the Solotica’s are not cheap at $80 or more a pair.) Solotica’s & their cheap competitors are primarily Polymacon material of low Oxygen transmission with hypoxia risks for corneal ulcers, scarring, & vision problems. We only have one set of eyes and I think a video on the topic from you on the differences in lenses and Dk would be great! 👍🏽
Oh wow, I was getting g ready to buy Soloticas after searching ‘best colored contacts for dark eyes.’ There are SO many videos for them and TTDYE, but I thought Solotica would be better because they were more expensive (awful reasoning, I know). Glad I read through these comments! 😅
Love how wholesome you and your family are! Your kids seem so special and sweet, would love for them to make more appearances in your videos. Thank you for this educated and thorough review!
I've never used Dailies Total 1 b/c my corneas are super flat and I need a higher base curve than the 8.5 that Dailies Total 1 offer. The Dk of the Total 1 comfort is great - 156. That of these Dailies are not quite as good. I can't remember off the top of my head. I still prefer the fit and comfort the Air Optix Color monthlys. Hope that helps!
I wear the freshlook color gemstone green (I have worn these for 10years) and tried air optix and found they were incredibly uncomfortable and irritated my eyes. Have you ever tried freshlook? I am curious as to you comparison between the three given freshlook is a bi-weekly and a middle option between air-optix and the dailies by alcon here.
Hi! Thanks for the great review. Between the Dailies and Air Optix colored contacts which ones would you say look more natural and are more comfortable? Thanks!
Cute daughter!!! I couldn't wait until the end of the video to tell you how cute both your kids are!! But, now that I have watched the whole video, GREEN is your color. Looks absolutely GOREGOUS on your brown eyes!!
Is it safe to use a contact lens that has fallen on the floor if you clean it with contact solution? I’ve always just thrown them away when they fall during application.
It’s so sad that contacts like solotica aren’t good for you because I wish reputable contacts had options more vibrant for brown eyes and without limbal rings
Dr. Rupa Wong your such a positive role model for women in health care, as a health care provider (hospitalist) in a male dominated field, we need to empower more women to go into the field.🌞🌞🌞
I tried Swati lenses that i purchased online and After a while wearing them i had such a bad Eye reaction my doctor said most likely was allergy due to the material of the lenses wich was Hydrogel and same with Desio lenses.I Need to try this ones otherwise i am giving up on lenses completelly.Have you Heard of Swati? Is It even FDA approved?
Many of these lenses are FDA approved, it's just that they use older lens technology (like 1970/1980's) and the lens breathability and oxygen delivery has come a LONG way since then
So i had actually done specific videos on influencer brand online colored CL but had to take them down. So I'm going to redo them, but will just in general educate as to what to look out for when buying colored contacts online - the different numbers etc, but I can't specifically review a particular brand.
Thank You for doing this review circa 2022 I could only find three other reviews for Dailies. I absolutely love the Daillies because I can actually see with them on. ( I have Plano ) I tried Air Optix and it felt like I was looking through a cloud of smoke.
I really wish the FDA approved ones would expand their colors and also try harder the way the sketchy ones try with diff collections. Because my eyes are big and brown like yours but they’re getting lighter brown somehow as a get older and now I’ve noticed there’s a gold/green hint to them on the bottom half, not super noticeable but in the light you can tell if you’re looking and I REALLY want to enhance the gold and green part with colored lenses but seems like none of the approved ones have a good Goldish brown type of color 🙄
Is this the ONLY colors brand you suggest? They dont change my color as much because it has see thru spaces of my natural eye color coming thru moreso than new color. Ty.
You should make a video about Solotica lenses! They're really popular online and great for dark eyes. I really want a pair but my mom doesn't trust them (even though they're FDA approved) so it would be great if I could show her a video of an optometrist giving them a seal of approval!
Oh yeah, i've seen some beauty vloggers try them on and they look great - let me check out their DK constant. That's their oxygen permeability - because some lenses are FDA approved, but the technology can be REALLY old and not all that great for your eyes.
Dr. Rupa Wong Please don’t with Solotica. They have a DK rating of only 8. My Air Optix Colors have a DK rating of 110. The Solotica’s are made of an older Polymacon material process where the color dye actually touches your Iris. Solotica’s have not been approved for sale in the US. They are illegally being sold by some websites overseas without requiring a prescription.
Just posted my video about Solotical . Sorry Melanie - I definitely cannot recommend them. Totally not as safe as other contacts out there. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-UkH6xM8G4h0.html
Just posted my video about Solotica. They are FDA approved, but they use a really old lens technology which doesn't let a lot of oxygen to the surface of the eye ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-UkH6xM8G4h0.html
Thank you for this video. I'm sold on the green ones now. You look beautiful. I did order those my natural eyes away Hazel so chances are it will not be a very big difference. Thank you😊.
Is the BC and Dia of precription contacts the same for the colored contacts? I was fittid for contacts couple months ago and was precribed the Daillies. I want to get colored but my doctor wants to do a refitting which obviously is at another fee. Is it necessary or can I use the same info from my regular precription contacts?
I just tried the Mystic blue dailies and I already don’t like them. They move around very loosely. They don’t fit snug like the Acuvue oasis that I had and the blue makes my already blue eyes look weird.
Any updates? I would love colored (green!) daily lenses that are as comfortable as Precision One daily lenses that are AMAZINGLY more comfortable than my Air Optix monthlies that, for decades, were very easy to wear. Then at 72, I became intolerant with pain on inside of lids when I removed them. I thought my days of wearing lenses (since 1965) were over! The Precision Ones are dramatically more comfortable (actually totally comfortable with NO feeling they are in my eye. even after 16+ hours of wear, there is no discomfort after removal! In the 90s I wore TINTED green lenses that were custom made to cover my wider diameter irises and did not have any opaque paints that look so fake to me. The effect on my brown eyes was subtle, deep emerald green. I never noticed the color in my vision, so either they had little uniform color, or they had a clear pupil hole. I think they were all the same green tint. They stopped making them in 2000 or so and the robot, glowing, bright, painted lenses came into vogue. P.S. It is much easier to put in the super thin and easy to wear lenses if you use a completely dry finger as the base finger that places the lens in the eye!
Have you reviewed Moodylenses? They are FDA approved apparently. I tried out a few this week (the zero prescription) and amazed, having not been wearing contacts for few decades, LOL.
Do you happen to know why they don’t offer positive (farsighted) prescription options? I want colored contacts, but air optix colors were dry/uncomfortable to me. I wanted to try these, but I don’t understand why they’re not offered in positive prescriptions. I’m +1.50 bilaterally with 8.6 B.C.
Doc, I have the Air Optics color contacts and I've noticed that my vision is blurry. I went to the eye doctor and have perfect 20/20 vision. I really wanted the Air Optics colored contacts to work but for some reason it affects my vision. I can't see clearly distance wise and attempting to read something is hard because the letters are hazy. Is there a Color contact that i could use that will not cause this problem and why am I having this problem?
I have this same issue! Wish I understood why! I also have 20/20 vision. I figured it was because I have huge pupils! When I consulted an eye doctor his response was "they are cosmetic and aren't meant to be comfortable" I mean my goodness then why do people where them lol... I just think we haven't found a perfect fit. I see that the doctor in this video said that the mystic grays pupils were to big for her eyes.. I heard another lady say this in her video as well.. so I just ordered some from 800-contacts... hoping they work. They are coming tomorrow. Will update u!
@@Diva2ThaBone i found the solution to our problem, Freshlook Dailies contacts or Dailies colored contacts. I can see crystal clear in them. They are so much thinner and I forget they are in. Give them a try. However you don't have as many color choices .
beautiful children. Pretty lady. Thanks for the video. Ciara is right, u do look like the singer Mya. You made this video on my son's birthday. He also pretends that he doesn't know his colors smh. Makes me wanna... I just got the 90 pack of green from Dailies
Hello! I had a laser about five or more years ago used to have about 8 degrees myopia.. since when my eyes are not the same they are often dry and need drops.. could it be safe for me to buy colour contact lenses that last about 3 months and which brand could that be? Thank you so much in advance ❤️
Love your green top. You seem sweet and fun! If you have worn the AO gemstone green, would love to know how that compares to the Mystic green in dailies.
i think the gemstone stands out more -- on my eyes it's a little more pea green, than the regular green. The mystic green is kind of a cross between green and sterling gray i think. your eye doctor should have a few samples for you to try on the colors.
grey rinnon Thank you! And my green top is from clothing line! I launched it a few months ago (it's not YT Merch, but actual clothes!). Www.aryanaclothing.com
I think all the colours are nice IMO. Putting lenses in are ok for me… taking them out is what terrifies me 😂 Kids… my kids don’t like me using coloured contacts too even though I love the effect they give my eyes 😂
I would love to get some color contacts that are better for the eyes, but they never look near as natural as solotica, anesthesia, etc. If only they could develop the new technology contacts that look like the cosmetic brands
To be honest, unless a lens is more opaque, the change is barely noticeable. Those are all translucent and your natural color still shows through. And unfortunately, from what I'm gathering, the more opaque ones are not good for your eyes? Is that correct? I'm with your son, your natural brown eyes look the best to me.
So theirs 30 contacts in each, can you spread out the use of the contacts, like if I wanted to wear some one day and maybe another pair the next week, or do you have to wear a new pair continuously for 30 days? I tried emailing and messaging them but no one has responded
Yes you can totally do that - as long as they aren't expired. That's honestly what I do since I wear colored contacts like 3 times a month. The expiration date will be on the box.
Thank you so much I love your videos. I discovered you a few days ago :) What would you say about waikon trikolor. Would be amazing if you could make a review on those.
Thanks Sam! I just looked them up after your comment - I can do a whole other video on different online colored contacts - any other brands you'd like to see?
@@DrRupaWong thank you Dr. Rupa :) i also discovered Amara lenses recently. I think their DK is about 30. They have many nice colors but not sure how good they really are.
Hi new Sub. Wish color contact lenses you recommend for astigmatism .So impossible to find. I got 2 pairs from eye candy. Wow not comfortable and prescription is way off.I will try to return. I had look online like crazy and so hard to find toric color ones. Thanks
Really? None of your ophtho friends wear contacts? That's odd. I'd say the majority of my old co-residents wear contacts, including my husband. It's easier to sit and examine a patient at the slit lamp with contacts versus glasses.
