As you are well aware, what's even tougher in grade than DC Super 100pg #4 is the romance issue, #5. When you mentioned Greggy, my ears perked up. Such a small world! Many, many years ago, I tried to pull a copy of #5 from Greggy through a trade, but he would have none of it. His 100pg collection is quite something. I tried to put one together many years ago, but I stopped as some of the more obscure ones are just too expensive/tough in grade. Love a lot of those pickups! I'm afraid DC 70s horror in grade is quickly becoming what pre-code horror is - a very pricey endeavor.
I'm a sucker for DC's 100-page Spectaculars! I have a lot, but definitely not all --especially for the base series. I tend to pick up lower grade ones just to have the issue in the collection, but always on the lookout for higher grades to eventually get to ones I feel confident to submit. I recently got some of the romance issues for a decent price!
I have declared October as "Funtober" and have picked out 30 Halloween or Trick-or-Treat themed comics to read during the month. Looking forward to the IG event on the 24th. Be there or be square I say!
Oh hell yeah, Gore Shriek!!! I used to have the first 3, regret letting them go years ago. Well if that makes the horror sale i know what i might be looking to scoop. Awesome video again.
DC Bronze Age horror/mystery comics rule. I have said it before and am saying it again. I do enjoy picking up the DC 100 pagers as well as the GIANTs that followed that in 1975 but, as you said, they are tough in high grade. I am not as particular as you are Dave so I will settle for a lower grade. It is tough to find those square bound books with a near perfect spine. As you know the 100 pagers are especially susceptible to spine splits and one other thing that bothers me a little about those 100 pagers and GIANTS is the staples almost poke through the front cover after a while. I have a friend of mine who has ALL the 100 pagers DC ever did as well as all the GIANTs. And, he has multiples of several. Not necessarily all high grade, but to have all the 100 pagers, from the original Super Spectacular run to the ones in each title, is quite impressive.
Hi Lady & Gentleman.... 😁. (haven't commented on a vid in a while) .. Just wanted to say, your videos are just awesome.. Not so much the knowledge that you continually give us in the comic space., especially vintage.. ; But it's moreso the complimentation of the interaction between you guys Man., it's what REALLY makes these videos what they are, and why the subscribing audience keeps coming back. Always awesome content guys ....as always:)
I bought all of my Bernie books when he was at NY Cons back in the 80's. Got many of them signed but on the inside. I never slab my books because I love the interior work by so many of the legends that I grew up. with. Will you have raw horror books?
Hi! Thank you for your content. I have 5 comics that looks like it was stamped by a dealer before printing. I looked up these books and there is no stamp on them. So. I was wondering if you had a place I cold send you some photos and get you expert opinion? :) Keep on rocking.
