not necessarily... only if the laptop doesn't support. you might need to install the driver first to use the same. hope this helps

I have the DELL USB Slim DVD Drive but when I burn music cds they would not play on the stereo cd compartment. When inserting a music cd on this drive should it not start playing the music right away? Help please

You may need to open your music program and tell it to play from the CD drive. It may or may not launch automatically depending on the settings you have on your PC. As far as the music not playing on your stereo. Make sure you burn your music as an audio CD and try to burn it at the slowest speed possible. Some dedicated CD players are very picky about playing discs that you burn.

same for me, I bought this device, burned a bunch of cds, but they won't work in my sony cd player boombox. but they work just fine in my car's cd player. i burned them at x10. the software, when you load a balnk disc doesn't give you the option to just burn an audio cd, like you would expect. it gives 2 other options. i showed my brother, he's tech savvy, and was confused by this. i'm still not sure what's going on with this device.

Of course not. PS4 game discs are Blu-Ray discs. This is a DVD drive and cannot read any Blu-Ray disc. Even if you bought a Blu-Ray drive, your PC wouldn't be able to run a PS4 games because the game is not designed for a computer.

My Dell DW514 plugged into my Dell laptop running Windows 10 will read CDs but not DVDs. Don't waste your money on a Dell external DVD drive. They ask for a 7 digit code to get support but there is no 7 digit code on the device. I'll never buy another piece of junk from Dell.
