Hey guys, before you comment with questions on the new Homey & Homey Bridge. Make sure to read this FAQ post! - community.athom.com/t/the-new-homey-homey-bridge-faq/51291 For any questions you have, not answered by the FAQ, the best place to go is through our official support channels.
@@robbie7465 Bear in mind, Homey Bridge is still in Beta, I'd suggest signing up to the beta, and once you've received an invitation to then order your Homey Bridge. :)
Would be nice if my current Homey (early 2016) Pro could be the Cloud processor for a Homey Bridge as an extended antenna to that Homey Pro, thus increase zwave/ZigBee/etc. coverage within my home.
Ok guys, you are doing a great job. Business model makes a lot more sense now. Personally, I'm too happy with my Homey Pro to switch, but I still enjoy your journey. Alex, that switch function flow is brilliant. I'm applying it right now in my flows.
Hey Dennis, Happy to hear this helped clarify things for you, Homey Pro is still meant for the Pro's, we just want to open up Homey to more entry level smart home'rs. I even surprised Emile with those Flows, he thought I'd be using some Logic. 😉
Curious about this, Will this work with Teckin smart switches? my router has some weird problem connecting them since there was an update for the router so i considered getting this to transfer all my smart home to this instead of letting my router run all the smart home?
Since the comments are turned off on both the keynote and the 45 seconds video; What’s your guys plans with the 99 euro a year developer cost? Given a lot of plugins won’t be available for the homey bridge if the community doesn’t pay for it- which they won’t since that’s a lot of costs with no way to turn a profit or break even?
Hey RMP, we are planning to do an AMA style livestream some time next week. Stay tuned for that since it will answer a lot of your questions. For now, I'd like to direct you to the recently posted FAQ where there is a section that answers your question. - community.athom.com/t/the-new-homey-homey-bridge-faq/51291
@@homey Thanks for the response! I’ll be waiting for the AMA in that case. I’ve long wanted to try out Homey- and this Bridge would be perfect, but for me it would all depend on how many plugins it’ll have since I use some unusual brands
Não está na distribuição para Portugal mas no site deles premite comprar para Portugal. Tem é uns custos de envio ridículos, 20€, quando para Espanha l (por exemplo) é grátis.
How will work a Device without an Internet connection? And "5 Devices for Free" it's very generous! Another question, what's about Latencies when you got 50+ Devices? Please answer.
Hey Anton, without an internet connection, Homey Bridge will not be able to receive and send signals. In terms of latencies with many devices, we have obviously done intense in-house testing with great results, but to answer your question we need to await broader testing, and is part of the reason for the current Beta testing phase.
Hi guys, looks like a nice product! I have a Homey Early 2018, will it be a performance upgrade to go to the Bridge? And will I be able to install my current backup into the Bridge Cloud?
Hey Bart! Your Homey is still quite fast, so we wouldn't recommend upgrading. Your backups also cannot be restored on the new Homey, so that would mean you'd have to start over again.
Looks nice when works... I have Homey Pro myself, suddenly one day wake up and cant turn any smart light... All z Wave units are not functioning.... And then you understand that its quite difficult to get support... and Yes, i admit that I was idiot to trust these smart thing and build my living room and kitchen lights which works only on z-wave threw homey pro hub... now dont have light for some weeks....
I already applied to the beta program but I didn’t know you can’t use the bridge without a invitation code. Now I have a product at home that I can’t use…
Hey AllYouCanDrone, I am sure our support team is working on responding to your ticket. In the meantime, let me say, that the best way to get a beta invite earlier is to invite your friends to join. I know you're excited to start getting hands on, but as announced, the beta is invite only at the moment. Patience is key here. :)
I am new in all the smart home worlds regarding hub and so on. What is the difference between the Homey Pro hub and this Bridge? And why is the Bridge cheaper than the Hub?
Hey KN Film, the major difference is that Homey Pro runs locally, an internet connection is not required for Devices, Flows, etc. to be controlled. Homey Bridge runs in the Cloud, meaning an active and stable internet connection is required. This article does a good job of explaining the differences - homey.app/en-ca/blog/athom-reinvents-homey-as-a-free-service-and-introduces-homey-bridge/
The question is - How it will work without internet? The whole idea of Apple HomeKit is that all works autonomously. If your device is not able to do so, it will be a dealbreaker for lots of people. Especially, considering that the device may be slower, but must not stop working entirely.
Oh what a game changer it would be to be able to add a bridge, or even better, several of them as slaves/access points to the Homey Pro which would act as the master. This would help get rid of the eternal range problem for all the wireless protocols when building a smart home involving both in- and outdoors, going through walls etc. As opposed to having separate range extenders separately for each protocol. Watching reviews here on YT scares me a bit regarding the risk of short range from the main unit. Otherwise I really love what you're doing!
Thank you for your reply, it makes me feel seen/heard, can't ask for more. 😅👍😁 I just want to clarify one thing about the use case: My home wifi and LAN is already built out and have great coverage with a strong router and nodes. Wouldn't want to re-do it with a parallel network Wi-Fi network just to communicate data between the H Pro and the bridge(s). Thus the connection between H Pro and the bridge(s) should be able to use the local existing network (Wi-Fi works and LAN is great) for connecting to each other as opposed to only a direct connection. Benefits: 1. Utilizes existing infrastructure (positive synergy!) 2. It would also work offline when you have the H Pro as master. Thanks!
Hey G.B. Dam, this is not possible & in most cases not necessary. Many of the communication protocols (Zigbee / Z-Wave) create their own mesh networks. This means that extending the range can be done by adding 'Router' type devices to the network. Check out this video on Z-Wave for a little more info - ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-y1w3KYZ6fcQ.html
Hey, today I receive my bridge but when I watch your video you can just log in. However, I need a beta code. How long can this take before I receive it and can use the bridge? Greetings Erik
Very nice entry level homey experience I think. However I hope they will keep giving the homey pro the same love. I don't want all my home automation be dependant on an internet connection.
Hey MrDevilkeh, thanks for the positive comment :). We totally understand users, like you, that find 'offline' smart home control important. Trust me Homey Pro is getting its fair share of love over here at Athom. 😉
@@homey thank's. How many days we need to wait for a beta invitation. I registered 2 weeks ago, invited more than 10 friends and nothing. I need to buy a zigbee hub in the next days, i would like to buy a homey brigde. If i buy a tuya zigbee i won't buy a homey bridge and homey premium in future
@@14Rodolfo14 Unfortunately I cannot offer a timeline, seeing as you've invited 10 friends I am sure you are high-up on the list, and we are inviting new people every day.
Ooph, and will it be possible to install a homey-server on a local server in the future? So for example Linux? I would still be willing to pay a license fee. THAT would be a new kind of PRO!
Hey Dorthe, depends on what you're looking to connect. If it's only cloud-connected devices, then just the mobile Homey App is enough. If you want to add devices that run on Zigbee, Z-Wave, 433Mhz & Infrared, you'll need to add a Homey Bridge to create those connections.
Before I start recommend Homey Bridge to some friends, looking to get into the smarthome space - have you tested the delay when, say the Homey is running around 60-90 devices?😁 cool new product segment guys🎈
Hey guys! Got a Homey Pro at home, and it is a centerpiece on my tv furniture - But my family owns a cabin I wish to smartify -and a Homey bridge would probably be powerful enough, and that space would be less dependant on local automations. My question is: will homey bridge and pro both be shown in the original app, as two separate homes?😊
Uma pena que não incluíram a distribuição para o Brasil, um dos maiores consumidores de dispositivos de automação residencial… aqui é uma febre. Vão chegar tarde, e com outros assistentes já com o maior mercado dominado.
⚠️ The list of counties on your site is not complete. For example, there is no Ukraine 🇺🇦 🇪🇺for some bizarre reason. I hope this device will work, but please, fix your counters list.
Hey Benjamin, first off, thanks for signing up to the Beta. Codes are being sent out to applicants over the next few weeks, keep an eye on your inbox. ;)
I was ALL about this... Then read that it requires a subscription. EVERYTHING is becoming subscription based and the public doesn't like it. I feel like a subscription was a poor choice, especially considering your competitors don't require a subscription. "it's a no for me"
Unfortunaly, you also need a monthly subscription with this to work. And we already have too much subscriptions. So, no, i will not buy it, despite i am very, very excited in my mind.
Hey Eric. I'm sorry to hear it! I totally understand your POV, that's why we also have Homey Pro, this is all in a 1 time purchase. Have you taken a look to see if that might be better for you?
Hey Ruben, for many new users, it's quite handy to have a QR code available for a direct link to the App that goes together with Homey Bridge. We appreciate your feedback, but the QR code can be freely ignored if you don't need it. ;)
Some of the most useless and to that extent expensive little box. just to be allowed to turn on his light or turn off his TV. discourage everyone from buying this homey bridge .. For people who want to enter the smarthome universe, would advise to buy phillips or samsung smarthings instead. works far better and costs nothing every month
Hey Malamutten, Homey can do a lot more than just turn on / off the lights. I'd suggest you take a closer look at what Homey offers, and you'll quickly see that the possibilities with our smart home platform are much broader than SmartThings or Hue. Not to mention a much better user experience and more flexibility in your potential smart home devices and Flows. If you took the time to dive into Homey a little further, I think you'd be pleasantly surprised with what we offer.
@@homey Is fully aware that homey can do many things. But my bridge is constantly jumping off my 2.4 wifi. and here today homey then chose to delete all my gadgets from aqara and ikea. so now i have to start setting it all up again. just with the exception of aqara which I can not get on at all anymore. so looking forward to the beta is over. and bridge is going to run well. have high expectations for it .. if you do it really well it may be I drop my HA
@@malamutten3203 As you know, Homey Bridge is still in beta, therefore we would love to have your feedback! In the Homey App you can head to 'More' and offer us some Beta Feedback. We are constantly reviewing the feedback from our users to improve the platform as best we can. You're invited to leave some feedback there! :)
