Thank you for this video. You answered many of the questions I had regarding these type of kits. I am currently Annie's crochet afghan subscription and thinking of trying Hooks and Needles once I have completed this afghan, yet I'm finding just a few issues with Annie's product. I have noticed you did not mention if they have video tutorials for the Hooks and Needles boxes. Despite being an experienced crocheter, some stitches I really need to see the stitch or assembly process to understand the pattern. I am an utmost beginner with knitting and would like to learn more, but not sure if I could understand a written pattern even with just photo's.
I have a number of reviews in a playlist here normally I do 3 months with a box and give a final thoughts after working them all. There are some wonderful boxes out there, but there are some duds.
Loving all the pinks and greens together for spring. The bamboo is a nice touch. And really surprised about them providing two hooks and super nice quality pattern books. Cute patterns, too
@@HappyCraftyHomemaker I used the hook they supplied, love the handle as I am 73 and need the better grip. Maybe, because I've never used natural fiber before, I just need to get used to the different feel. Thank for your information and I enjoyed your video, lots of information.
I really want to make one of those coaster pots, but not with bamboo. I don't think the bunny will be easy with bamboo. I love bamboo but prefer cotton or wool blends for amigurmi. I don't knit but that little purse is sweet and my granddaughter would love that pillow on her bed.
I am just excited to see a box with something fresh and different. I think the coasters in the bamboo would be fine. I am worried with my spilling that I would stain them badly...
I did get 1 subscription box from them maybe a year ago. Maybe they updated the booklet. There weren’t any extras like tea or candy, but they did provide everything you needed and 2 hooks, which I thought was odd. I didn’t enjoy the yarn but I think it was a high end wool from Italy.
I got the subscription, 1st box nice yarn to make a hat size 9 needles to knit in the round but 20 inches, needles splintered, got an apology only. Next box 4 straight wood dpns that were splintered to make a headband. Canceled, 2 strikes your out. The yarn was wool from Italy and nice. But too expensive for me.
I got the box that had both the knitting and crochet boxes together and really enjoyed getting them. I do not knit but want to try it and thought this box would be a good starter.
A perfect sponsorship. I’m so happy for you! I do not think I have ever seen an Intarsia pattern in a box before. The only thing I do not understand is the two identical needles or hooks would not two close sizes be better for finding gauge. Cotton and bamboo they are speaking my yarn language. Will be checking out their store. Cannot wait to see what you make. I would be so tempted to use the bamboo for a scarf-shawl.
I haven't seen it before either and colorwork not in wool too!!! OMG! I really like the wreath but I don't know that I have the energy to make it with the other projects I have on deck. But it would me AMAZING for a scarf for the Spring!!!
Hi, I'm new to your channel. So glad I found you. I am a little confused on how you completely changed your mind on the Hooks & Needles box. I watched a review you did 11 months ago saying how badly they sucked, now singing praises. Why the change of heart? You even stated how you overpaid. I know I'm nobody but would you mind telling me why the change of heart? Thank you for the honest review 11 months ago!😊
Sure. The review I did a few years ago was for Annie's subscription box, which is also called Hooks and Needles. This is a different company that is based out of the Netherlands.
Not sure I liked the ease of working with the thread, it split to easily for my taste. They also forgot my chocolate! Not really a complaint, just the "little kid" part of me that loves chocolate.
Interesting. So I have had issues with splitting, but when I changed the hooks I was using it went down a lot. A lot of natural non animal fibers maintain separate plys, so the direction of the twist as you work can make a huge difference for a crocheter. The chocolates missing is just... so very sad... I mean... chocolate!!!
