Right? I think she is the prettiest of this release, and i am very happy to get a dark skinned doll with hazel eyes, which isn’t an uncommon combination.

I thought I mentioned in this video that Evette is biracial? TM 127 definitely looks like some kids I see in the Tri-State area, which is where I live, and it is always great to have everyone represented.

@@rainbowunicorncat1 Yes, but one thing that was missing was the hair connection to the Black community. Yes, many children who do not have this kind of textured hair had a hard time, but many children in the Black community have hair like this that grows out of their scalp. The wigs on the dolls were meant to represent a "cultural milestone" for American Girl, the same way Addy's hair and storyline spoke to the Black community. AG couldn't change Evette's hair due to the storyline of Evette's story and her connection through her hair and ancestry to her maternal lineage in the Black community and culture. AG had a panel help them see this and try to get the wig as close as they could to what the African American community saw as acceptable. These are the same panels that they tend to use for historical accuracy like when Kaya was selected as the 1st Native American AG doll for the series. Imagine someone doing a culturally insensitive review of Ivy, an Asian doll and commenting on how the almond shaped eyes are too hard or difficult to "swap" out because that person didn't like them. How inappropriate would that be to so many Asian people who just buy the doll for representation in a doll? As an African American I am aware of that and therefore these dolls are very special to minority groups who seldom are represented...period. I hope this helps in your next review because you seem to be on top of your game.

This review’s sole purpose was to demonstrate what the doll looks like, I didn’t mean to make it into anything deeper than that. If I decide to make another video about the cultural significance of this doll, I will definitely keep your comment in mind.

@@persnicketypleasantpenelop7505 it is my firm belief that every little girl should be able to buy a doll that looks like her. Representation matters - and it’s easy to dismiss this notion as “overused” , unless one is a part of the non-represented minority. As a first generation immigrant with an accent which will never go away, I do feel underrepresented in movies or TV shows, and this experience helps me relate. I never understood how much it mattered until I saw Sofia Vergara’s character in Modern Family. It was very refreshing to see an immigrant woman who isn’t a maid and isn’t connected to mafia. So yes, representation matters. I am glad AG is offering more options for biracial dolls, and it doesn’t hurt that this one is very beautiful too.

Same about Evette’s hair, but I am very tempted to braid it because I saw someone do it and I liked the look. I have had mostly good luck ordering dolls online. I know one of our viewers doesn’t hesitate to contact customer service and request a new doll if the first doll isn’t up to her standards. So that option exists in case you receive a disappointing doll.

I don’t know why they decided to change Evette’s hair color , as you said, most biracial kids have dark hair. On the other hand, there are biracial kids with light hair, and they should be represented too. I think both Evette and #127 are beautiful dolls 😍

I don’t know why, I just want to make one! I will keep Evette’s grey eyes though, I know in the prototype they are hazel (like 127), but that would be too similar to 127.

It’s a very good question, I would love to hear the answer from AG. The loafers are so cool! I am buying them with the next reward. I actually saw someone on the streets of NYC wearing the same exact style, except the bottom part was teal, not pink.

I can’t choose 😍 To me she doesn’t look like Cecile because the molds are so different, plus differences wigs of course. But they could be sisters.

My childhood friend has the same hair as Evette, including the color, even though she is definitely Caucasian. I love that hair and I am planning to be more adventurous with it, as now I have a second Evette, who will be customized with another wig, so I will have an extra wig in case I destroy the first one 🤣 Same as you, I barely touched her hair since I bought her.
