I have emailed the shop I got it from hoping to receive the English instructions that should have come with the kit. If I can't get them I may have to treat it like a scratch build. Should be interesting 🤔

@@GregWilson635 thank you very much. It has become a fun part of the day/week filming the progress of the SA build. But also some pressure of the outcome of the piece I’m filming and doing a video on a regular basis. 😅 There are so many good modelship builders out there, I’m just hoping I can touch a little of what they do in my outcome. 🙈 I’m sure that you can figure it out with San Felipe. It will become a truly impress ship. The rigging are more and less the same on all these capital ships with some variation but it will take a truly San Felipe expert to see if the rigging isn’t 💯 % on point. All the wood work would be “easy” to do if there’s a good picture by picture build on the net. It’s definitely doable. 🙌🙌 Save the plans from Soleil royal on how to do masts, because they will probably very similar to what SF has. Looking very much forward to the build. 🙌🤩😃

@Periodmodelshipbuilding I'm tossing up between the Santa Ana and the Victory to build next. Sokeil will give me plenty of time to think about it 😉

@@GregWilson635 and also, I don’t know if you know the book. But the Period ship Kit builder’s manual by Keith Julier is very handy in a pinch and gives loads of information on all aspects of a kit build. This combined with the book called “the art of rigging” are my two go too books, both for inspiration but also learning techniques. I really recommend them if you haven’t gotten them already. They will definitely help in any situation.

@Periodmodelshipbuilding thanks for the recommendations. I will definitely look for them. I have a couple of books but am always looking for better ones especially about rigging. Rigging scares me lol 😆

I'm sorry, my reply must have disappeared. No, ZHL have not updated plans or instructions. They are still terrible. At this point I'm pretty well ignoring them and just building what I see in the photos of the completed ship.

Thanks , the instructions are atrocious. They don't match the plans, and if you don't look a long way forward, a mistake will be made, which I have just done . I need all the luck I can get 😉

It was $770 Australian which I think is roughly £440. Not sure if I have the skill to build it 🤔

edit: looking at the plans/drawings, that's pretty much how mine was too. Took a lot of guesswork and measuring of the various wood pieces to make sure I was using the right stuff in the right place. I did make a few mistakes and had to make some of my own pieces. This was long before laser cut pieces as well.

@muskokamike127 it is very large and mainly due to the instructions. I want to get a few models done before I attempt it.

@muskokamike127 I'm getting close to finishing my first kit which is the Soleil Royal and have just started my second which is the Santisima Trinidad.

@@GregWilson635 ok great, I googled Santisima, you don't go easy do you? haha What maker is the Santisima? what scale? I googled it and one was 1:90 and almost 42" long.... I was asking because the more experience you have, the less of an issue crappy instructions are. I had a couple of books to refer to, I think one was Mainstay, which helped a lot. Do they at least show you the dimensions of the pieces you're supposed to be using? For eg: when planking the hull do they show 1.2mm x 3mm?

True, and some of the numbers they call for are incorrect. I'm already developing a dislike for this kit.

Si no tiene buenas instrucciones entonces sí que tenemos un problema, espero que lo puedas resolver poco a poco gracias y que lo disfrutes.

I agree , the ropes and instructions are not good at all. I am going to have to replace a lot of parts

@GregWilson635 but I've never seen that much stuff inside a model kit before that was crazy it's like double the amount of wood you would get with a high end brand kit will be a great looking ship when done

It is Chinese manufactured , the wood and most of parts are quite good but instructions are terrible. May as well be a scratch build.

Agree. I am working second year and got stock with rigging.Mess drawings.
