Cool set of LPs. I'm guessing the White Album inserts are foxed because they spent a lot of time pressed against the black inner sleeves.

Hi Andrew!! Cheers from the US!!! I've loved watching your video's for quite awhile!! Thank you for the quality time you put into these videos they're enjoyable to watch and I appreciate how you've done your homework on all subject matters with The Beatles and recording history and the different subtle versions of various Beatle Vinyl. I've love the Fab's pretty much my entire 52 years of life! I was 13 in the early 80's when I discovered the very superior UK mixes of their recordings, after hearing a 32 hour radio program called The Days In Their Life which featured every recording ever released from The Beatles. Using the UK mixes. I started collecting Jem imports of all their UK albums! Years later, I profusely regret that I had to sell them as I know they're collectable now! Interesting album you bring up with Hey Jude. I don't know if you know the history behind that LP in the US. Basically a contractual Allen Klein project of putting together songs that hadn't showed up on any Capital albums. Of course he missed many more but a very cool collection of songs that were nicely mastered by Sam Feldman at Bell Sound as he never liked the Capital masters and what they did. I agree with you that these are superior stereo masters with more punch and less seperation. I wish all the stereo maters were given this treatment. HJ was the first LP I ever owned when I was a kid and I actually have the first pressing of the album called The Beatles Again. Because of how big Hey Jude was, the albums was renamed HJ. Of course some albums had already been pressed with the old title, so those are pretty cool to have. I still have mine! Well done Andrew!! Can't wait for more videos!! I've always loved UK vnyl in general but that's a whole different discussion!!! LOL!! Take care man!!

Hi Todd, As someone of a similar age, it's really interesting to hear of your experiences from a U.S. perspective. We never really 'got' Hey Jude in the UK, but the pressings made here in 1970-73 sound fantastic. The opposite is true with 'Magical Mystery Tour'. Take care!

Silly question: you usually pronounce “Please Please Me” stressing the last word (“Please Please ME”), whereas I have usually heard the title with the second word stressed (“Please PLEASE Me”). Is yours the way most British people pronounce it, or is it a personal quirk? I really enjoy your videos. Thank you for posting them! :)
@kmg2480
@kmg2480 3 года назад
For what it's worth, I stress the second please, as did John and Paul in various interviews. We generally emphasise verbs within a sentence, so yes, It's surely a quirk of Mr. Parlogram's. In all fairness, I also emphasised the 'Me' years ago, before I realised the double meaning of the word 'please'.

Hii, sorry for writing this on such an old video but do you have any tips for storing and preserving original uk beatles albums for the future years? I've so far just wrapped them in bubble wrap and then kept them in the cold temperature loft but I'm worried the bubble wrap will get too old and discolour the sleeve. Thanks anyway! Great video too!

What happened to Let It Be? I was waiting to see if you got the box set or the regular one. Can't believe how clean and shiny the covers are.

That inner sleeve in BFS must have been transplanted from elsewhere because the disc itself has Parlophone Co. rim text and RECORDING FIRST PUBLISHED rather than (P).
@mbvideoselection
@mbvideoselection 3 года назад
Also, since those inner sleeves are all separate to the discs, I'd suspect the seller simply enclosed them from a stock of inner sleeves, possibly excess unused ones, that he'd got hold of separately. It might be from a stock of withdrawn versions of the EMI inner sleeve, perhaps one that included the image of an album whose release was cancelled.

Don't get too upset with me, but the most important Beatles album was...MEET THE BEATLES. Until Capitol released "I WANT TO HOLD YOUR HAND" and "Meet..." in the U.S., the Beatles were just another Brit hit (you remember Cliff Richard...don't you?) Please Please Me launched the Fab4 in England, but in those days, England was not really that important musically. After "Meet..."and "I Want To..." the Beatles made the big time.
@andyallan2909

Actually, in world-wide terms, the isolationist US was last to the party (didn't know there was a party).

Can you teach an older American fan how to find a play quality collection like this one and not sell a kidney for it? I know most of these sold in the millions of not higher during the 60's and 70's. Was Let It Be not included in this haul? I have a thick 1st US The Beatles Again stereo, sounds great as you say. What do you think of the W German HorZu/Apple Pressings from the 70's up to 1981? I had them all new , but were stolen some years back, never was able to replace them. I love your videos, very informative and entertaining , and covering my favorite subject THE BEATLES! Are you planning a special video for December 8th 2020, it is after all the 40th anniversary, wow 40 years. I can tell you where I was and what I was doing the night it happened and it was reported here on American radio. Wearing headphones, listening to FM radio, doing my homework when the first flash came through (my generations JFK/RFK moment),..I was in high school at the time. Like many, I was in mourning for months, years actually, and every October, it begins again for me on Johns birthday, and now too at George's B-day as well. Both left us far too early I was at work the day George passed, and had to take the rest of the day off, and then the week too as it turns out. That's how much the Beatles meant to and still mean to me, both together and as solo artists...
@Parlogram

I'll be doing a video soon on the best value, best sounding albums. Some German Hörzu will be among them. Nothing special planned for December 8th. It's a day I like to spend quietly. Thanks for sharing your memories.

Andy , one question regarding one of your earlier videos , the one where you bought Prime Minister Harold Wilson’s record collection. In the collection there was a copy of Hard Days Night but the sleeve was totally un-laminated , just a matt paper sleeve. How rare are these? , I’ve never heard of such a variant?...what’s the story behind it being un- laminated?
@Parlogram
@Parlogram 4 года назад
I've had a few of those over the years, Dai. It was probably an error with just one batch. Although fairly rare, they are not that valuable - unless they are Mint of course.
@davidheafield1436
@davidheafield1436 4 года назад
Parlogram Auctions ....cheers for that info mate , I’ve never known about this let alone ever seen one. I’m surprised it isn’t a bit more well known as an “error batch” within the collecting community in general...or perhaps it’s just me that doesn’t know about them! I’ve had to intentionally “peel” the laminate off other LP’s in the past due to it bubbling and peeling so much that it was beyond saving...but you learn something new every day.

what do you use to play grade most are never playable full of distortion destroyed by sixties record players or a worn out stylus iv never found any that play good do you use a mono cart or a record player from the same period the modern turntable with a decent cartridge can bring out the good and the bad
@Parlogram
@Parlogram 4 года назад
The turntable I use is a Project debut carbon 'Esprit' fitted with an Ortofon 2M blue stereo cart/stylus. Mono carts sound great playing a vintage mono LP but they hide groovewear and other faults, so I don't use them for grading.
