THE TIMING OF THIS?? Unbelieveable. I did not expect to be opening my fav ever Fairyloot box today but here we are. I have the YA book only subscription and I was a little disappointed when I first opened the box because the cover/ art style isn’t really my cup of tea. But I’m actually half way through the book now and have a new appreciation for the design because it fits the book so well! The book is amazing so far also:)

I love editions where the cover art is on the edges!! I prefer ir so much over just flowers and stuff... i feel like so many books just get flowers or some sort of plant. This is so intricate and i personally display books by the edges so this immediately shows me what book it is! Loved this month from both the adult as well as the ya box!

Be careful with the tumbler and iced drinks. The print came off really easy when I put ice cubes in my drink. Illumicrate also did some Bookends in 2022 and they were from Jade City

Hey just to warn everyone...People have been saying the glass straw in the cup is breaking easily. I saw in a group I'm in where someone didn't realize it broke on ice in her drink & she swallowed glass from the straw.

I’m realy grateful for the tumbler, because I always forget to drink water while I’m working. 😂 the whole box is amazing, but the tubler is just came in the right time to remind me to drink water ❤

Forged by Blood is such a beautiful edition. Hooray for reversible dust jackets, especially since the original cover can be seen in the sprayed edges. YA box: I love the tumbler design but as I don't use them, especially if they come with straws, I would not want it. I also don't use bookends or booktabs or stickers The metallic straws are always practical. But the design creeps me out. Yeah, when the book cover looks the same, you suspect and hope that there will be a reverse dust jacket, like with One Dark Window. The first endpaper totally makes me think of Celaena. I would totally get the book.

I couldn’t wait to see your reaction for Bonesmith! It’s so beautiful. The best character art! And so far I’m loving the story. I’ve got the book only combo subscription and I have not been disappointed. I do agree that I wish they would at least include the tarot cards in that subscription, but the books are just so amazing that’s it’s hard to be upset 😂

There is an ink shortage, for printer ink and other textiles dyes because of raw material sourcing, so that could be why there are problems with the quality, and I feel like there might be an issue with publishers not allowing book boxes to change the covers of the books, so they have to resort to small changes like the colour scheme, and putting all of the details in the things they can control. It could also be that the Authors themselves don’t want their covers changed too drastically. However this is just my speculation, I have no idea if this is in any way true.

I’m a 40k and Age of Sigmar player as well! I have Daughters of Khane and Sisters of Battle armies. Nighthaunt models are beautiful and I actually thought of them when I saw the Bone Smith design as well! 😊

I love continuity in my sets and I was so happy Illumicrate matched the styles in the duology. I loved the end paper designs and the character art being on the reverse makes it feel like a special hidden bonus. The edtion makes me want to curl up in a comfy spot and just read. The green ghostly bits on the edges on Bone Smith reminded me of the Shadow Isles from League of Legends and the undead army from Lord of the Rings.

I was about to cancel my FL YA subscription because I been hating the items and then they go and bloody do an amazing box like this so Iv not cancelled. Hopefully we r going to get more boxes of this standard going forward

This wasn't my favorite box but I do really like the cup and the tabs. Also the Gideon bookends are going to be cool to have up for Halloween, gonna try to set a tealight candle in front of them. I've been saving all the author letters for the last while and am going to sit down and read them once I hit a full year.

I had a feeling you'd like these!! Two things that stood out to me as a YA/Adult dual-book box sub were the "matching" end paper designs on both books and the fact that the YA book had a more adult design to me and the Adult book seemed more YA to me. I loved them both (including the sprayed edges) BUT I hope if they keep doing digital sprayed edges for the future we don't get the same cover-to-edges art for every book. I am perfectly fine to have it for some books, but not all. I am envious of those bookends! It's time like these I slightly regret my choice to switch to the dual-book box...but overall it's still been ultimately worth it imo.

I love the effort that they put into the adult subscription! The books never disappoint lately. :) The items for this month all look awesome, I especially love the tumbler (bc I loved Belladonna hehe)! 💜 My YA book only FL sub is on hold rn bc none of the books had me interested enough to reactivate my account. Maybe I’ll try to get on the waitlist for the adult one instead hmm.

I agree with you on the edge design - such a shame to hide stunning covers so this is a great way around that. Much prefer FL glass tumbler style here than the two we had from IC (which I didn't think were fandom neutral, because one had that misquote?). We had the teal-coloured book ends from IC (can't remember the fandom but it had a 'jade' quote). All these items are great and practical - much better than what IC are putting out which has been so hit and miss.

The adult book is stunning and sounds good, I'm gutted that I didn't get off the waitlist in time for it. I can't wait for October to get my 1st adult box. I was so happy that the glass tumbler was the Belladonna item as I loved the book (Belladonna was also the September YA book last year) the only issue I have with it is that the writing has started to come off from all the use I've been getting from it. I think FL heard you say that they were not doing so well with the YA box and has changed for you haha

I was right there with you wondering what was going on with this AMAZING box. Unfortunately I did actually go through my cancelation!!! This was hands down the best box I have had since I started my sub over a year ago. The straws are actually perfect for cocktails…. Spooky cocktails of course. I barely have room on my shelves for books so I don’t really use book ends BUT I do use them in the front of my books if that makes sense? Esp when they are laser cut like these. And the white skeleton looks great over a stack of black paperback books (I have them on my PB Gild UK editions ;) But the fading on the edges were a let down for me. Otherwise the book was beautiful.

I;m sure Illumicrate did the Jade City bookends, but I don't remember any others. I prefer acrylic ones so I can still see the artwork when they're on the shelf

I feel like any curvature to the pages makes it looks washed out because of the bits of white that you perceive.

I skipped August and September for teh adult FL purely because the books don't interest me that much. However I do agree that The adult book of FL is probably one of the prettiest they did this year. (Nothing can top Divine rivals though). He who drowned the world is just flawless. I adore my set and feel the same way about She wo became the sun, that was one of the first books I've gotten where my jaw just dropped.

I really don’t like their digital edges lately in the YA box. Copying the cover as the edge seems lazy and it wasn’t as vibrant as the cover. I wish they would do more edges like ouabh or six crimson cranes they were stunning!

Also FairyLoot have said they will be doing an item they’ve never done before in a box for October. However, because it’ll be a new item, the reception it receives could go either way. Although I do like that they’re trying to branch further and try new things. I’ve had both my FL and Illumicrate subscription since the January 2022s boxes, there have been ups and downs but I’ve stayed strong and never paused. I like how FL still keep the price to a decent amount, while my Illumicrate always eats away at my bank account, and I’m not always pleased (especially with the Afterlight) but I agree with you, FL’s Adult is always out to impress.

I do think I might give the October box a go, I'll see what September is like when people get it. I can't believe how poor Afterlight is, I've never had it but I always see people disappointed by it, which is a shame as the concept is amazing

@@Wanderness Yes, it is sad, some boxes are good, like the Ali Hazelwood ones, but then others aren’t. Most of the things we get in it are scented things (which I’m not always the biggest fan of) but never candles, which I’d much prefer. The October box is definitely something I’m looking forward to, hopefully I’m not disappointed because it sounds so promising. I might have a long think about my Afterlight subscription because I mostly spend my student bursary on these boxes. Fingers crossed it’s all good!

This is the first month that I actually regret switching to the YA book-only sub😭 Like most of the items so far have been a disappointment but now it looks like they're stepping up their game. I'm really looking forward forward to read the book and the customizations, the artwork are just incredible! It looks more grown up than the adult book😂 The only thing I don't like is the cover printed on the edges because I find it to be a very lazy and cheap choice. But overall the YA box was great! It would have been perfect for Halloween 😂 I've recently cancelled the adult sub because I ran out of skips because, althought the customizations on the books looks amazing, I wasn't interested in any of the last monthly picks. It's such a shame because they are doing such a great job with the adult books in terms of quality but honestly it's not worth it spending 40€ on a pretty book that you know you're never going to read🤷🏼‍♀️

I sometimes contemplate going book only for the YA box but then they do items like the Belladonna and I’m like nope, this is why I’ll for sure get FOMO 🤣 September FL was definitely a strong month. I need to film my FL YA unboxing but was melting so bad over the weekend 😆 Now the big question is? Are you still on hold for the YA box? As the items sound like a bit of you 😉

its my last ya fairyloot as well im out of skips and not interested in sept or oct plus the items have not been great this year they have seen what is working for illumicrate and are trying to mimic it but a glass straw loose in the box was a disaster for me, those bookends are soooo the wrong colour for gideon the ninth though. and those straws were brilliant idea but useless length

It's strange, just based on designs the YA book gives me more adult vibes, and the adult book gives me more YA. 🧐 I agree the items were excellent! Too bad I canceled my YA box, but the book choices have stopped interesting me.

Be careful with the tumbler, in book box sherlocks people are saying ice (condensation) is peeling the design off!! Im happy with the box but I wish they wouldn't put the cover on the edge... a skeleton would have been so cool

@@Wanderness please be careful with the straw too! Someones broke in their mouth!! and mine came broken. Otherwise i loved this box! Ive seen the edges for september YA (like pink butterflies and flowers) and its SO PRETTY so im very excited for that, not so keen on IC, but i am very excited for october ya for both cause i love fairy tales!

To be honest I thought this was one of their worst boxes :( i think they just keep adding the same items over and over again (the tumbler is new, but it looks cheap..) and i’m so tired of the stickers and book post its/markers . Highly disappointed. However, the book looks quite nice
