have to say, after contacting Microsoft; if you haven't yet don't bother! They will tell you to buy a new one because of the crappy rubber. Thank you for the video explaining the fitment of the Scuf replacements. Really helped solve my problem.
Jacob Zotta just called Microsoft and they're sending me a new Elite controller no problems at all... And apparently I get to keep the one that's defective sooooo... yea... I might buy these grips for the defective one!
@@Horizon301. only my Xbox One X was under warranty and I told them my situation that my grips are falling apart and my controller thumbsticks were loose.
Great video. In under a year my left side grip started to peel. I used the best buy warranty , got another, paid 20 bucks again for another warranty, second controller did same thing again in under a year. So I ordered these. It gets old paying 20 bucks everytime this happens and having to go through the return process. I didnt go the glue route because the rubber seems a little expanded so it wont sit right.
The scuf grips on the back are great and haven't given me any problems but the thumbstick after about 2 months wear down and tear I went through all 6 sticks in 6 months and bought another set and lasted the same so for long term default sticks are best
Just to let you know, the standard warranty on accessories (per xbox support) was 90 days. Unless that is wrong...my grips are coming off after only 7 months and I'm probably going to get these grips instead of trying to deal with Microsoft.
Hey Joshua, thanks for the comment. It appears that I had gotten support at the Microsoft store and got some better treatment from the staff there. One of the editors here literally took their controller in and it was replaced with no questions asked and it appears he got the extended warranty. I'll correct to the description. I would also highly suggest going with the grips over Microsoft replacements from a comfort and building quality standpoint alone. They also come in different colors. (keep in mind this is subjective and we are not getting paid from Scuff in any form)
I sent my elite off to microsoft a week or so ago bc of stick drift and I am recieving a replacement from them withing the next 2 days... I bought it from Cex mid last year looooool
My grips came off too, i just decided to buy a new elite from the scuf website since mine was a few years old anyway. You can just customize it and have them put their grips on it, so im giving that a try. One thing to note is that the scuf elite from their website, wont come with all the extra sticks and such that the microsoft elite comes with. I have my original elite, so i can swap out the sticks if i dont like the ones the new one comes with...
It's much better to remove the grip from an xbox controller without any tools. Pull the trigger all the way and then reach under it with your thumb and forefinger to pull the piece off and away from the controller. This will help you avoid marking up the controller shell.
Hi there, the sticks are actually very grippy and not slippery. To this day they still stick well. Depending on game type the original sticks tend to destroy thumbs. We did a long term review on the Scuf kit. Good to know their durability as well. Review is at the start so worth watching. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-F1o3uwMFbNA.html
Great! Make sure to view our long term review for the Scuf kit to see if their durability will affect you. Also, make sure to order from Scuf directly, a number of people have mentioned that Amazon has sellers that are inflating the kits value past $50. They should retail for $30, and you can find them on sale for $25 many times.
it can be because a lot of time when it becomes detached it can stretch. Try to glue sooner than later or you'll need to replace the piece. we did a video on the DIY for it.
sorry to hear that. There are clips on all 4 corners of each grip. Make sure they are still intact. If you're still having issues I would reach out to Scuf for a refund or replacement. Mine have been rock solid and still loving them.
this is more of a personal taste sort of a answer but the typical preferred layout is the concave taller stick on the right joystick and convex mid to shorter stick on the left stick. The longer stick gives more sensitivity when aiming which is said to increase reflex time. That being said everyone likes something different.
you should have received 2 grips. One is on the display of the box and the other is in the little box that has the rest of the kit inside. If you only received one, I'd contact the retailer or seller you bought it from.
Microsoft made their warranty for the Xbox Elite Controller 1 month Only, I got mine in early December 2016 and the controller had many issues including the grips alone with the sticks being loose. Took it in Feb 2016 and they refused to do anything..
Sorry but we are unaware of such practices. The official warranty from MS on all controllers is 90 days. They have however been giving goodwill replacements and fixes for a lot of these, per social media. Outside of the standard 90 day warranty I can offer much firm advice though. I'm not sure where you "took it" but the proper place to start would be MS Support, as retailers outside of MS Store will not offer such support on a product outside of their respective return policy
Sick N Sane I've been using the same Elite controller for 3 years, and it finally broke. I called them, filed a hardware complaint and they put me under a courtesy replacement, all I had to do was pay shipping. I would advise calling them again
Can you map the paddles on the scuf one elite to the dpad directions? I havent been able to find this anywhere and I want to know if I can map one of the paddles to dpad(up) before I buy one. I'd appreciate if you could let me know thanks.
Hi there. Keep in mind that this is an enhancement to the MS Xbox One Elite Controller, not a new controller. Mapping remains the same with the MS mapping app found on the dashboard. We can check that for you, but I believe you can map just about anything to anywhere.
it's included in the box. The window on the box is to show an example of what it looks like. The other is included in a small box inside with the pry tool.
hi Esteban, not really sure what you mean. Scuf carries a number of full Scuf x1 controllers and also kits for the elite. scufgaming.com/scuf-forza-elite-controller
been mentioned a number of times in the comments below. This was our first attempt in filming from this angle and we've attempted to remedy this since August of 2017. Thanks for the feedback!
Has anyone tried to put the grips of a normal controller on a elite controller?, I tried and there a slight differences between them mainly one of the nails is on a different position so you can't just put it in, but I was wondering if just by removing that nail it could fit or there is more things that will get in the way? or is there another brand that sells only the grips? because I don't want to spend $30 on them and I don't like the rugged look
hi Bernardo. We did another video on updating controller with other grips and they can be had relatively cheap (link below) in video description all parts are shared. If you're looking for the Scuf like grips you won't find the same, but the soft touch feel goes a long way. You can also pick up just replacement OEM Elite grips for less than $5 USD. Gaming Cobra is a good place to find parts, only downside is that they ship from China so you'll need to be patient on shipping ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-CMFdAg234tU.html
Thanks for the answer, where can I find the OEM Elite grips? I have searched everywhere and all the grips are for the regular controller or the new S/X, for the Elite I have found every single replacement part except for the grips, I think I'll go for a DIY repair or a full silicon cover that goes all around the controller
So if u want to pay over 200 dollars for a controller buy the scuff add on... But not for me....i would buy a used ps4 for that money... Still want a elite controller tho" but 150 euro"s is more than enough
IMPORTANT INFORMATION. If you purchased this controller in the EU then under EU law, consumers are offered a two year guarantee in which sellers must repair or replace a faulty or not-fit-for-purpose item, but this right is trumped by the six-year warranty in the UK's own legislation. The right applies to any goods sold in the UK, so online retailers must also comply. So don't be afraid of telling Microsoft that and demand a replacement.
You on the scuf nob bud, those sticks do NOT grip better, like every other analog you slowly slip off of it but those teeth grab your fingerprint there so good. So if you'll make that up "I like these more" than I doubt the grips are any better. Just glue the rubber back on it's easy af.
GrimSamuraiCDXX idk I've had my scuf elite for about a year and the grips are way better on scuf's side for the thunbsticks and the backing my left stick is the original elite style and has work down in grip and lost it's grip a substantial amount
this has been mentioned a number of times in our comments section. Make sure you are looking for a seller that is selling them for MSRP OR go to Scuf's site directly. You should not be paying $50 for these.
Biggest problem you have with this stuff is scuff equipment is really poor quality and the sticks will be fucked before the year is up. I've had my elite controller since the day it came out and my rubber is just now starting to come away but I will never get anything scuff, I'll just get me Xbox ones
DoS Gaming Network exactly, my personal choice would be a Scuf because they use better modules in the sticks and Microsoft uses cheaper components in their products
Appreciate the candid feedback and it's been mentioned a number of times in the comments. This was our first attempt with the camera and it didn't work as well as had hoped. We have not recorded one in such a manner since. Hopefully you found the free content useful though
We have linked our long term review to this video. The grips that come with the Scuf kit do not affect the failure point in the Elite Controllers, which is actually the Elite Rear Shell. The rear grips have actually been amazing, it's the joysticks that Scuf needs to work on from a durability standpoint.
@@SeasonedGaming that's good to know but dont you think that is a little to much money for something you could live without . The controller it self is only $140 but these guys are charging $40 or more just for a piece of the damm thing lol
@@da1bearsfan they are $30 from Scuf. In our long term review we mention that if the rear grips are worth the $30 great, but otherwise they are a pass due to joystick durability issues. scufgaming.com/scuf-elite-precision-thumbsticks-and-pro-grip-handle-kit
