Hi everyone could one of you possibly tell me what size portafilter is? I’ve been doing some research and I can’t seem to figure out what size it is!!! Thank you in advance
Whew! Perfect timing! I just got this machine for Black Friday and was kinda scared it would be too confusing to use. Thanks for all the visuals and stats!!
I’ve been searching for a beginner espresso machine (Santa is bringing us one this year). I think I’m gonna give this one a try as the milk frothers on the other brands I’ve looked at are a bit intimidating lol. Thanks so much for the in depth review!!
Excellent Video ! Just bought this exact machine about 45 minutes ago.. Just now opened the box. Super Glad I found your video ! You explained everything Perfectly ! You answered every question I could possibly think of. Awesome !
Hey, JaD, I followed your instructions with the Gourmia (my first such machine) and, I must admit, it makes a great cappuccino. With where I live, the economics of the area mean that this sort of thing is out of reach of a lot of people, but this machine is affordable and makes great drinks and tastes worlds above anything in a convenience store by leaps and bounds. Your review and supplemental instructions were very much appreciated. Cheers!
This espresso machines is very similar to Chefman Barista Pro with few cosmetic changes. I think manufacturer for all these cheap espresso machines is just one company.
Hi! Im now experiencing a weird problem! The machine is frothing waaaay pass 16oz for the double latte option, on min or max settings, its been really frustrating.
Nevermind, found the issue, don't put the brother dial at the Maximum setting or it will just dump warm milk into your cup, for proper frothing you need to keep it between 2 to 6pm, you'll feel some resistance while turning the dial which means it's working!
Thank you for the video. I bought this machine and I was having trouble with getting the milk container out. After watching your video I learned the trick and much more.. Thank you 🙏🏻
I got this and really like how it works it is a good coffe maker only issue I am having is there is not a lot of milk coming out of the frothier, when I run the clean cycle it works fine a lot of water comes out but for some reason not wiht the milk, I do use almond milk but I can’t see why that would be the problem when the consistency of Almond milk is almost like water
If you wanted to add things like vanilla or other syrups/flavorings to a particular drink, how do we know how much to use? I.E. How much equals a "pump's worth" so to speak?
I bought this machine and am looking forward to it. I have never used a machine like this before so I was hoping to find a good video on how to use it, I am so happy I found this video!! I love the step by step.
Thanks, mother was driving me crazy about the display not coming on, it doesn't fully show until you push that milk container in, fully push it in. Told her to watch a youtube video and figure it out, as you can see who watched the youtube video. 🙄
I have become almost addicted to this machine! I recently ran out of milk and haven't had time (or - lately - ability) to go get more so I'm relying on the Americanos for now.
Does anyone else have the issue of the “espresso” light just blinking and nothing happening? I’ve done everything correctly and it was working but now it just blinks
I hate this machine. Bought it and returned it. Taste like plastic after flushing, the hoses used in the tanks are way to plasticy smell and taste. Temperature of froth and espresso below where it should be. Typically got underextracted shots even after dialing in varies grinds. Froths milk before espresso a no no for me. Reservoir tank feels like its going to break pushing into tank and cleaning. Not worth 50 ! Buy a used breville for 100 or use an aeropress
What size is the portafilter on this machine? I bout one used and the tamp is missing. From looking on Amazon, there are many sizes. I appreciate any help!
I bought this 2 months ago and just today I realized that the owner manual box where it tells you Oz I thought that's the oz it was going to make but I read it saids recommended mug size 😂😂🤦♂️
You’ve convinced me! I’m gonna buy one when I get off work if my local store still has them! I’ve been wanting an espresso machine for years, this definitely seems like a decent one to start with!
When I turned it on only two options appeared for espresso and manual on each side. No clean option or any other options. Tried turning on and off and with and without the portafilter secured. Anyone else have this problem? 😢
Excellent video sir!! This was my xmas present to myself. Got it unpacked, followed manual. Confused bout a cpl things, so watched the 1st short video came to. Welp, i was even more confused after, so i went to 2nd video which was urs. U, my kind sir shld b 1st. I agree with lady who said u shld get a commission. Great job, explained thoroughly while showing each step. Thank u & Merry X-mas! I'm gonna go make me a cappuccino. 😊
Aeropress. Is made out of plastic. You are familiar with health hazards of plastic coming in contact with hot water- plastic releases chemicals that are bad. I might have read somewhere about carcinogens if not chemicals that emulate estrogen and you know what that does to men. Right?
I got my mother one for Christmas. I am trying to set it up and it only displays the espresso and manual option. Am I missing something? No cappuccino, latte, americano or even clean option lights up
Hi! I have a question. Do you have to pour the hot water in the container or just put regular temperature water and then it will heat it up once you turn it on?
Room temperature bottled spring water. Never use tap water and don't believe anyone (especially not the manufacturer) that says otherwise. The machine does not heat up the water like you are thinking. The water remains cool in the plastic reservoir at all times. Instead a pump driven espresso machine like this uses a flash heater to heat the water as it passes through the machine on it's way to your cup.
Not like what they serve at diners because: 1 that is drip coffee, not espresso and 2: that is made with ground coffee that is designed to taste like Folger's, which is what Americans think coffee should taste like. Café Americano is a rough attempt to create an approximation of diner coffee using an espresso machine, because European cafés don't have drip coffe machines but they do have American customers. Because espresso tastes nothing like drip coffee, and because Illy and Lavazza coffees don't taste like Folger's, NOBODY, European nor American, likes Americanos.
Returned mine. My wife bought it a couple weeks ago. Tried to do a double and barely a shot dispensed. Tried it again and same result. Sticking to my AeroPress
Not recommended to use flavored anything with your coffee equipment. Better to just make plain coffee and then flavor it with a shot of syrup in the cup, as dad did here. That's because those coffee flavorings are very strong, smelly, and cloying and may leave a permanent aroma on your equipment. That said, almond milk, sure that will work but may not foam as well as hoped. Be aware that milk substitutes are sweet and so don't add any sugar until after tasting the final mix, and then go easy on the sugar. Milk substitutes, yes. Coffee creamers, probably not. That's because coffee creamers are designed to only use a small amount per cup of coffee and this foamer will put way more than that. I think that would come out inedible.
Buyers beware - mine came in, didn’t even work from the absolute start. Called tech support, guy couldn’t care less to help, told me to return it. Promptly did. Super bummed
Came here because I just received the machine from the Black Friday Sale and this video confirmed the one I have is broken. 😢 it will not froth the milk. Ran the clean cycle first and it did not dispense any water. Instead, water came out of the bottom of the machine. I hate to say I have to return it.
Purchased! Thankyou I've been looking for a good simple all in one machine that didn't have a million options I just want nice expresso with a milk frother thankyou for this video it was certainly needed
Hello Sr. Thank you for your video! My machine is brewing the coffee with the ratio three times higher than the spec. Single espresso std is 1 oz and I’m having 3 oz. All options are having this issue. I’m wondering if this machine has some kind of “factory reset” or not. Brazilian coffee is always a great choice.
I bought this exact machine but it didn’t come as clean as yours did… there’s some white residue in the double and single shot and the handle… also when i turned mine on, it didn’t show all the touch buttons. Is mine defected ?
This tutorial came in clutch on this Christmas morning. Especially the tip about settling the water reservoir repeatedly before the priming process. I couldn’t figure out what I was doing wrong, and that tip wasn’t in the manual. Merry Christmas!
Hi, I work at Dutch Bros. You're right, an Americano is espresso with hot water. Our water specifically runs at 190° perminently. For our milk our regular temp runs at 150°-155° and anything past that is extra hot. I really like this machine even though there is some things I can't do, specifically tempature control and being able to set froth once you know how to play with milk is much easier then the dial
Oh also, tips for making your coffee taste like Dutch bros (for iced drinks) Small: 8oz, double shot Medium: 12oz, double shot Large: 16oz, quad shot Our scoops for flavor is 2tsp and most coffees get 1 scoup. Cooling the drink is exceptionally important. We get your drink cool fast by having a cup filled with ice and another cup we build the drink in, once it's done we pour the coffee back and forth and that makes the drink cool super fast. Another thing, try to use half and half if you get a breve, chocolate milk if you get mochas. And we use only Torani brand for our flavors.
For sure! I'm also very impressed by the performance, can't wait to try non-pressurized coffee baskets on this machine next week. And yes, the dial is very confusing, I usually set it at minimum, but I've found you can manually brew 1 or 2 espresso shots and then put a frothing pitcher and press the froth button, and catch enough milk/froth to get the right ratio of coffee to milk and foam, once in the pitcher you can tap and swirl the jug to get a more even consistency and then pour on your espresso cup. The machine surprisingly does achieve some microfoam!
@Kingdannet4043… Thank you for your input because those stats for the drinks you make are helpful when trying to make our at home concoctions!… Thank you so much!
Great video. Bought the machine, watched the video, all excited, go to make a cup.... mine doesn't work. Story of my life. 😂 I would just exchange it but funny story, my mom tells me today that they got me a ninja espresso maker for xmas --so just sending this one back.
Moat of the drinks taste watered down in my opinion, I use finely ground fresh beans. I use the machine for shots of espresso that I drink straight with a touch of hlf n hlf or add the espresso to coffee. Cheers, not a bad buy for 50 bucks, but I think if you want better results, to go with a more expensive machine.
What are the variables under the control of a more expensive machine that could give a better result? Pressure, time, temperature, design of the filter pod....that's about it. Just a dad measured the temp and it was as desired. This machine is 15 bar pressure. Assuming that's true, it's the same as an expensive machine...15 bar. Time is a question but I'm confident the times on the auto buttons are good, otherwise you could always control the time manually. So then the only thing an expensive machine could do differently is the design of the pod. This pod is the same as used in most any machine, I don't see an expensive machine having a better pod. Conclusion: This machine should do just as well as a $250 machine...but anyway this is not a $50 machine....this is a $150 machine. I think your weak results are coming from some combination of: * not enough ground coffee or too much time/water on the pour * Grind is too fine, * tamping is too hard or not hard enough, * your coffee beans don't taste like what you expect, * the exact same coffee will taste better coming from a $750 machine than it does coming from a $50 machine, let's call that "The expensive Italian machine effect." Purists will complain about a plastic flavor coming from plastic hoses that are absent in an expensive machine, but you aren't complaining about that. You can see in the video that dad got good crema, that's a good indication of good/proper espresso. Are you getting crema as good as shown in the video? If so, I suspect your espresso is coming out good and it's your bias and expectations that are a problem. If not, then you are not getting the same results from this machine that dad is getting, meaning you're doing something wrong. What brand coffee are you using? Who is grinding it and how and when? What type of grinder? How old are those beans? How do you think you have the experience to know how to tamp properly? From where comes the espresso that you think is good? How is that process different than the one used by this machine? My own opinion: Other than the "plastic" issue, this machine should be able to make espresso as good as any expensive machine.
Thank you so much for this video😭 I was this🤏🏽 close to returning it I thought it was broken some things weren’t working properly! I watched your video and it was a great help!
My Walmart had this for $30 clearance on Christmas Eve. Great machine. The scoop/tamper has a hexagonal cutout on it that looks like a wrench, I was trying to figure out if it has a purpose or maybe a place on the machine where it might attach? The manual was barebones , but it got me going, you're video was helpful in filling in some gaps.
I just got mine a couple days ago. Your video explained everything I wanted to know. Especially the part about cleaning the head and cleaning the frother without having to remove the milk. Thank you.
I tasted a lot of sour tones and that means (under extracted) the measuring spoon and the amount of water used by the machine are not balanced. I used pre-ground espresso from chock full o nuts, an Italian brand as well as Lavazza. All were too sour. Plus the basket holder has plastic parts which is not healthy and the way it is designed is unsanitary (allows for mildew to grown under the silicone gasket below the plastic diverter in the basket holder.
I just set up my new Gourmia and the milk feature doesn’t work on mine. Only water or espresso comes out of the portafilter head, but nothing comes out of the silver milk nozzle, even though it is set in securely. Anyone else have this issue? The Gourmia site is absolutely no help and there is no troubleshooting info in the manual.
I got one too and I love it but the milk frother is a bit of a pain to remove. I been wanting a new espresso machine, my Cuisinart has seen better days so I figured for $50 I had nothing to lose.
