Polychromos are really lovely pencils. Staedtler were my first pencils so I have a soft spot for them and they are good for small details, although polychromos tend to be good for that too!

It is a shame that they are now hard to get and sorry that you ended up with the incorrect ones. Maybe you could swatch both sets and work out which is which and then stick a label on the ones with no numbers so you can more easily know which they are. I appreciate you using my link, thank you x

There are a bit harder than polychromos and there are some colours that are more pastel toned than polychromos, however, if you are gentle with certain polychromos you can get a light shade anyway but the pastel violet, light rose, pastel blue as well as the salmon and peach are not like any polychromos.

They are nothing like polys. Much thinner, harder, and drier in texture. They are closer to Pablos than Polys, but not in the same category of quality. A step up from Crayola, not as hard, more pigmented, and more blendable.

@@miekedebaets6719 Between those brands or of all my pencils? My favorite pencil set is a full set of Polychromos mixed with the pastel shades of Prismacolor. I color with a base.. either watercolor pencil or alcohol marker, and the Polys lay down beautiful, transparent and smooth for all the shading, even on Amazon paper... the Prismas sit on top of them and let you color light over dark since they are opaque. The Prismas are also far better for skin coloring... the Polys are far better for hair/fur.. so they complement each other wonderfully. I'm thinking about adding a set of Prisma pencils for metal as well... gold, silver, copper, etc.. the Prisma do easier metal IMO. I may do some tests with both next weekend. My favorite watercolor pencils are my Albrecht Durers. My second favorite set is Goldfaber mixed with the Chromaflows. They are both thin core pencils and nice for small images or pages with a bunch of little details... but soft and smooth, not hard and dry like most thin pencils. I hope they come out with more Chromaflows because that is my only complaint with them, not enough colors... which is why I mixed the Goldfabers in with them. It helped, but would be better if it were a purposefully organized set.. there are a few duplicated colors.

Yes, I agree! The fact that they do not have names and some do not even have numbers makes them even more confusing!
