Lovely review - thank you. I have just pre-ordered the 1/18 scale version that Spark are releasing in June of this year. It's such a shame the CLR pushed the aerodynamic envelope too far, because for me it is possibly the most beautiful racing car to ever turn a wheel.

You are so welcome! You’re going to love it! Thanks so much for stopping by to catch it. I also did one on the 98 CLK GTR LM, and many others Le Mans cars. Check out the playlist on my channel! I completely agree. This was was too far over the aerodynamic line and they paid the price. It’s a shame that this indecent caused Mercedes to never return to the top class at Le Mans. I can’t believe they still have not been back! Let me know when you ge the 1/18, I bet it will be phenomenal, and lucky for you the decals will already be applied! 😅

The 1st time I heard about this Mercedes-Benz CLR that was all way back in 2007 (17 years ago) when I just simply random browsing on Google and Wikipedia. And when I saw the articles and images of it, I got both surprised and fascinated not only to the looks, but also the "wth moment" it just happened that will be written in the motorsport history for good. I wish would gonna have that scale model like the one in your video for my collection. But nah, I have Gran Turismo 2 because of one thing; modding. Anyways God bless and more power to your channel. 😃😍

Thank you so much! I love hearing about how you discovered this car, as you’re right, it’s one of the most famous cars and incidents in motorsports history! I had ever GT game and loved them all. its a nice car, but the CLR dosent have a homologated version its just the CLK GT1. the CLR was a LMGTP class

Yeah they did not make a road going CLR to my knowledge.

@@retinalblur I sure will keep searching, its actually the only one that is missing from my AMG hypercar collection, hence I already have the AMG One, CLK GTR and the CLK-LM.

@iliepataki6735 Spark made all 3 cars with the different colored mirror caps. Are you looking for this specific one, or any of the 3? If you find one, make sure it has the water slide decal set underneath the car.

Just watched your CLK LM review before and then clicked on the link to this video. I always forget the CLR is a different car. I always preferred the CLK GTR in appearance, as the 98 & 99 Le Mans prototypes look like Lizzo sat on the bonnet to me, and flattened it. Bit weird looking. Seeing the model reminds me the CLR shape has shades of the 98 LM winning Porsche. The curvy sides which rise over the front and rear wheel arches. That's my favourite Porsche - and interestingly enough also was a bit unstable over crests as it too flipped, albeit at Petit Le Mans (Road Atlanta) rather than in France.

Also, well done on the decals....I hate applying them, so intense, worrying if you'll ruin the model

Great insights and yes, the car does have a similar shape to the ‘98 911 GT1. I’m torn on looks between both Mercs, as my first time seeing any was this CLR. If I had to pick one, it’d be this car. Thanks! I was so nervous as it took me over 2 hrs to complete. I did have one small incident but you’d have to really look to notice. So glad this was the only model for me.

Another great video and historical content. More importantly, I have only been able to find a poor example of this car from Maisto. Good find.

@@retinalblur Im sure. I used to hand paint and decal tiny electric football figures. Had to use jeweler's glaases to apply the decals. Pain in the butt.
