That's the same fridge that I got! I've had it for 3 years now with no major problems. I got it specifically because it's is about the same size as the average classic Coleman cooler (the blue plastic one with the white lid) it's just taller than the Coleman cooler. It's an ok size, especially since I'm usually by myself, sometimes I wish it were bigger but I only got so much room to work with. It's been in and out of my bronco and van probably dozens of times and it's held up to the bumps and scratches no problem, I even have strapped it down by the handles before and they've held just fine. I used to run this off a jackery 300 but it just doesn't have enough capacity for this fridge. If you'd get to camp at dark and had a full charge on the jackery it would run the fridge all night but if you didn't time it right or if you don't have much sun for the solar panel then you're probably going to wake up to a dead fridge. I'd say you probably want at least a 500 watt battery to give you some breathing room. Now I use a 1250 watt lithium iron phosphate battery and I don't worry about it running dead. This fridge is the same as an alpicool so I found the insulated protective cover for an alpicool and got it for mine, it helps protect the fridge more and cuts down on the compressor noise a little. The app for the cooler is ok too, don't like how it needs my location data to connect to the fridge but I just accepted it the first time and then turned location off for the app and it hasn't bothered me since. My only major cons with this fridge are that the door only opens the one way, it seems to draw a ton of moisture (it's probably like that with all these small fridges though), when you use the freezer with divider it's the big section on the left that freezes and the small section is the fridge and the 12 volt plug seemed to never like to stay in my jackery socket. I fixed the plug issue by cutting it off and hard wiring the cord right to my new battery fuse panel. All in all it's been a great fridge, especially coming from coolers. Just the luxury of not having to deal with getting ice and everything being a watery mess is worth all the little gripes I have with this particular fridge. There, that's basically all my thoughts on this fridge *thumbs up*

Those things are real cool. Don't ever go anywhere anymore so can't justify buying one. I rebuilt the icebox for a sailboat I was living in and ran it with a 12 volt compressor. I never got to use it cause I didn't like the way I could smell styrene on all the food I put in it. So I coated it with epoxy resin but just never felt comfortable using it after that. It kicked ass though the new owners said they always had cold food and they only had a 200 watt solar panel running it. I put like 5 layers of 3/4" Polyisocyanurate foam in it. They make 1" vacuum panels that are equivalent to something like 5" of foam. Would be cool to see a commercial fridge made out of that material. I'm guessing it would be 3x as efficient as all the current products on the market. Alaska trip sounds real cool also, 3400 miles each way though crap that's a lot of driving!

@@AstroVanTribe A good audio book for the trip would be A Short History of Nearly Everything by Bill Bryson free on youtube if you can tie your phone into your audio system somehow. Might need a youtube subscription to make that practical to use. 18 hours uninterrupted audio.
