Thank you for this video! It helped me earlier today. I’m not sure which part without watching it all again but I know yours definitely helped! For anyone that wants to use this (u1) as a pump that oxygenates their tank then you will need it slightly peeping out of the water for the Venturi to work. Also…. may need to remove the inside part of the foam (it’s removable and I had no idea why) but removing will increase the flow to get the oxygen flowing. Couldn’t even work out what max flow was without taking the nozzle off to see it shutting off and on. I learnt all this today through searching many many unboxing Videos and reviews. No help from fluvals videos for the U1. The Instructions that came with my filter were terrible and I lost a fish in the process. Glad I’ve got it working now. It’s like a totally different filter/pump to how I originally set it up with the instructions it came with
Thank you, I am going to give it a try for my 20L betta tank, as I have another Fluval, a U3 for my other tank. It's about the same size as the one on the left. I'm thinking about taking out the middle section of filter and putting in some carbon pellets held in one of my wife's old pairs of tights, cut down.
Hi thankyou for your video. The air-rational nozzle do you put this above the water level and also the purple cap is that tightened fully or left a bit loose? I’ve got the directional nozzle 1cm below water level pointing upwards
looks very big and I really couldn't see if I am able to add water polishing microfilter to it from the video. Sponge isn't fine enough so for sure need micro pad to be added otherwise water will be cloudy. OaseBioPlus(Thermo) series are way better, having options to add different media your choice and heater and also unique spray bar function on top of it so you can have venturi effect and spray bar in two different directions at the same time. Also only 250l per hour is nothing for that big filter- such a waste of space(but yes the size of the sponge is good no doubt) !
Thank you. The video that comes up with QR code is as useless as they come! It only shows you how to set up the high end U series! The rest of up plebs, who can only afford the lesser series, have to rely on the good will of others like yourself who actually give a damn! Thanks again. Stella
Ive just got a 2nd hand one of these..but instead of the white sponge inside it has 3 empty blue cartridge cases? Like one in middle is like a cage? To i think put either pellets? and the other 2 either side to put sponges in? I dont know how to set this up! Also where you put the nozzle for the water to flow out...theres 2 on mine?
Can you tell me which one I could use for a 20 gallon tall aquarium. I only have 2 fresh water angel fish in my tank but I hate the look of the filter sticking outside the tank. I want underwater. Thanks.
I just purchased U1 (this one) for my tank of similar size with small fish. Used to use U3/4 but that is waaayyy too big. I think this one will be just right. Hope this helps!
@@lubovdombrovska8409 thanks bud. Just the standard sponge or your own? I'm wondering if I should trim the top of my sponge and put a small bag of carbon at the top 🤔
@@stevo987 just the standard sponge. It did turn a pink color with use tho. I am not sure about what other options could be good tbh. He does mention in the video around 1:50 that the center part can be removed and replaced with something else. Good luck
I slot mine in the place of the little sponge piece that comes out of the middle of the filter sponge. Didn’t have any instructions so I placed mine in with the bigger section facing the front🤞🏼 Going to add some filter pellets from an old filter in that section too
Hiya mate I bought one of these based on watching this video. For the central foam in the middle that can come out, what do you actually put in there to replace it, please?
Mine didn't,just suction cups, new today n just using for the ist time, hope the suction cups keep it on glass ok.would have preferred an over the tank plastic hook to ensure it doesn't move, but will need to see how it goes.got it to replace tetra 54 litre aquarium filter that came with the tank as weekly 80% water changes were a must, plus gravel hoovering with water Syphon as the water was constantly full of debris, and I think the original filter just wasn't cutting it.just want to do the very best for my harlequin rasboras, glowlite tetras, honey gouramis and dwarf gourami ! Happy fishkeeping everyone !
horrible filter, had one for 2 weeks. Still can't get any meaningful flow through the thing. You would get more flow with a baby blowing through a straw. Makes a nasty buzzing noise and is generally useless, i'm planning on taking mine back and getting a refund. Avoid at all costs
I've had mine for about three years now and it's doing great. HOWEVER, when I bought a second one, I had problems with that one. Had to return two of them and then upgraded to a U2. Staff said they had multiple problems with a particular lot of U1s. So depending on when your particular U1 was made, it could be perfectly fine like my original one or one of the crappy lot like the second/third ones. The U2 is also doing well.
