Fun fact . Its not a 69 its a 71 . Page custom ordered his double neck in early 1971 . The double neck was discontinued after 1968. There were no 1969 double necks . How Gibson managed to over look this detail is mind blowing . No such thinng as a 69 double neck . 68 was the last year Untill 1977 . Any double neck produced afer 68 through 1976 were all custom orders incuding Pages 1971 model . When Gibson did the first Page double neck 15 years it was marketed as a replica of Pages 1971 double neck . I guess calling it a 69 is a ploy to claim that this new version is more accurate .

If you have the coin, you get a collectors item for your estate and the privilege to purchase an insurance policy for double the price because the guitar will appreciate by the second. It's not like a luxury car that depreciates the moment you drive it off the showroom floor, or a house in lower income neighborhood. And when Jimmy departs from this world (Lord forbid), your investment will skyrocket by way of a Stairway to ... well you get the point.
@@maximusindicusoblivious180 LMAOOO. There’s no guarantee that this guitar will appreciate the second you buy it. There’s many Gibson collectors editions that are worth less that what the original price was, or at best, maybe you’ll get an extra thousand on top. If you’re only buying it as an investment, you could be extremely disappointed later on
I'm a true lover of Gibson guitars but this is a huge expensive gimmick with a few goodies thrown in and it cost Gibson a fraction to build of what they sold it for!
You should see what a genuine 1959 Les Paul goes for , and it probably cost Gibson less than $100 to build. They just don’t seem to go for what the building materials cost. Go figure.
Believe me, the people that bought these have more money than brains and are thrilled to get one. These guitars were built for the wealthy super fan not your normal everyday Joe. That's why they sold out immediately!
the dang thing is only $20,000.00 USD less then my first house for crying out LOUD! Old saying applies. A FOOL and HIS money will soon be PARTED! in this case didn't deserve so much in the first place Gibson is out for money and loves the high priced collector and gave up on the musician period.
I don't get these whiners. In my case, I got a Fender Squier Jazzmaster last year, it plays really good and I can take it to a live session without having to be EXTRA careful. Thing is, I KNOW a US Fender usually plays even better and has, for example, a smoother fretboard and better knobs, to name a couple of things, and it'd be REALLY stupid to rant about US Fenders being pricier. OF COURSE it is going to be more expensive. You either have the money to pay for it, or you get (as I did) something else. PERIOD.
@@cmichalski420 I have a Mexican tele too, dragon version, also a SS strat and P bass, I also have 4 gibsons including a EDS 1275 and I’ve never had a problem keeping them in tune and I play 8 guage strings
Shocked at how poor Gibson have shipped /'protected' that 50K guitar. A measley top covering of bubble wrap?? I've bought 2nd hand goods on eBay with far more robust packaging....
It came double boxed. I’m guessing this dude saved time on the video by not filming taking the smaller box out of the bigger box. It was tightly wrapped with lots more bubblewrap and packing paper, then you get to the box in the video. I was totally satisfied with it, not a mark on the case, everything in good shape. 🤘🏻🎸
@@hankgalt that's good to know 👍. For 50k and played by the Master himself I'd want it to be super/Uber protected (and possibly hand delivered by Mr Page himself for that price lol). I couldn't believe my eyes watching this video when a small piece of bubble wrap seemed to be it's only protection...
I hate that fanboys have created this market where someone buys a guitar that no one will ever hear. Who is dumb enough to shell out 50k for that? Lol!
The process of aging the guitar so it looks worn and used is the part that would freak me out a little bit. For this kind of money, I think I would want mine to look pristine and flawless. I think they should at least give you the option.
Wrong as always. The Gibson EDS-1275 electric guitar was introduced in 1963 and is still in production. It was Popularized by musicians John McLaughlin and Jimmy Page. Elvis Presley also owned one of these guitars. There is a photo of Elvis sitting on a couch in Graceland playing a double neck. Jimmy Page gets credit for being the first to play this guitar because of the stairway song which is false. It's a 69 model just like you have the 59 Les Paul. You don't have a clue do you?
Very nice, but I just cannot bring myself to spend that kind of money. Apart from that, I love Gibsons and I own several but they are not exactly flying off the shelves like they have been doing here in the last 20 years. Sweetwater has recently marked down several Les Pauls, and even a buddy of mine, whose brother owns a music shop here in Florida has had quite a few Gibson “shelf sitters“ and has entertained the idea of knocking down the price so he can get rid of them.
You payed $50k for that? 😂😂😂😂😂😂 When Page passes away and Gibson does a memorial reissue set that's even more accurate than this one,that guitar will be worth a 1/4 of what you paid for it.. Seriously.. Everyone who purchased the 04-07 guitars are about to take a significant hit and price drop,because of these new more accurate guitars.. Gibson 2024: these are the even more accurate representations of Page's iconic guitars with a hefty price increase.. @@ScottsGuitar really cool. I had never played a double neck, definitely will take getting used to. I’m going to leave the 12 string side alone and barely ever play it, save the strings on the 6 string side, put new ones on, and just play that half so I don’t mess up the double neck strings and setup Jimmy played. I have it on the stand it came with under a photo canvas of Jimmy playing his back in the day, looks awesome 🤘🏻🎸
Thanks for sharing and displaying - its an awesome package, looks great when laid out👍💜✌️😊 It's your stock-in-trade, so why not, must be a joy to handle quality instruments. But that packaging at £45-50k Id want it delivered by armed guards in a crate - shame on Gibson, the cynical so and sos! Which leads me onto.... I have mixed feelings about it all though. Im very cynical about "collectors items" these days (although this is a limited run, 50 - but as you suggested though, until the next time?). Anything below a run of 500, is collectable, so 50 is truly special, and its been played by JP. But are Gibson playing their customers? Also to play or not to play, custodian or owner? As much as JP is one of my favourite guitarists - perhaps my absolute favourite - even if I had the spare cash? I dont think I'd have gone for one merely as an ornament or an investment (Ive no need for a twin neck and Im largely a Fender man - my guitars have been modified and I have a custom build from a known UK Luthier). US guitar manufacturers, US big business? Let alone big pharma, after the past few years - I no longer trust it/them. Also "The Great Reset", "you'll own nothing [we will keep you in debt] and be happy", you mentioned the price of things has gone up, almost without question - we should all question the price of everything now! And will Gibson - cynically - bring out another limited edition come the fateful day, when JP heads home? If Id been JP Id have only been involved if this was the last version and/or if Gibson did a lesser version in, Eg. the Epiphone range for mere mortals. Sour grapes on my part? No, it is a thing of beauty, but the spiritual side of me, my BS radar, is ringing alarm bells. Some lucky humans will enjoy them and good luck to them too. I think that prices for premium guitars are mad across the board nowadays. Also when some people can't afford to eat? All feels a bit....yuk. Im not sure what Gibson will do with the proceeds, but a genuine charity (not the coporate type) might have been a nice idea to put the proceeds towards. All feels, like a bit of a bad smell, like an itch in the brain, not quite right, I can't quite put my finger on it kinda way. Sorry no wish to be a buzz kill, it is a beautiful creation and to be savoured, but I question the whole supply, demand and collector's vibe now - as I get long in the tooth too.
