HI Logan. You will need to keep an eye on that seller and see if any other gold items appear on line. Congrats! Such a good deal. It will definitely help out your budget while there are no sales going on. I am still going through my bulk jewelry garage sale buy so it's keeping me occupied. Take care and stay healthy.
Thank you, I feel I'm already making a name for myself online as far as being a repeat customer to many sellers. I'm being extremely selective with what I'm buying right now. Mostly have to stick to pure gold items with no stones, as that's the easiest to turn right now. I'm still picking up some nice pieces but only if the price is really appealing. Literally nothing is selling on eBay, my sales are nearly 0. Still a great buying opportunity right now if you got the cash. Just trying to control it to make sure I don't get overextended. Good thing is I can always scrap out even the good pieces in a pinch and get most back. You too take care. Thanks
It makes a lot of sense in a lot of different ways. Could come up with any number of reasons. A majority of people out there do not care one bit about gold or its price. You just have this 'thing', that's taking up space. What you want is a little extra spending money, so you put it on ebay. You price it at what you would be happy with. That's about it.
My friend found a 70g necklace and pendant said it was fake and sold me it for $25 I then sold it for around $300 at a pawn shop before gold flew up in price. This was around 20 yrs ago
It's so funny now when I see plated jewelry and just anything that's not pure 14K gold or higher cause I have a solid 14k DC 4MM 22inch rope chain and I can tell that, thats not 14K lol
Have you found a better one than this one since and loved the part about sorry about my neighbors upstairs i habe same thing going on as i speak trying to record a video
I find heavy chains on facebook market place quite often. A few weeks ago I got a heavy 14 karat gold Omega necklace for 100$ It weight 32 grams. But that chain is really nice and insane to find on Ebay. Good find, sir
Yes I've heard of lots of good people finding deals on FB marketplace. I've looked but haven't seen much. Very similar to eBay you search forever and see nothing then all of a sudden something amazing shows up. Thanks
I recently bought a 14k rope chain from an ebay seller that has the same barrel lock that yours has. Wonder if my chain and your were made by the same manufacturer 🤔
Congrats that is awesome. I have tried finding deals on ebay. End up searching through a bunch of gold plated from China haha. Need to start sourcing somehow though with all the thrift stores and garage sales shut down. Thanks for another great video.
Yes you have to sift through a bunch of junk. I watch the listings almost all the time now, you might only get an item or two a week. I wish I could be searching the eBay listings AND having garage sales & estate sales doing well. Thanks
@@ThriftHunter yep my partner used to buy to sell (sell in IRL we exported vintage clothing to Japan through the early 2000s) and he literally spent hours everyday looking for unique and interesting items priced right.) It can be a full time job looking for the good stuff on ebay, BUT it is in times like these that you gotta do it. I love these videos so keep it up if you can!
@@omfug7148 People have to realize that everything sells on eBay because a buyer is expecting to get a good deal. It's the whole point of eBay. There are good deals in every category, you just have to be patient and look. You also have to know what you are looking for incredibly well. It's why I put a disclaimer, not everyone can do it. I'm ready to shell out thousands of dollars in literally seconds on some blurry photos of something I've never seen before. This one happened to be a cheaper one, but it was still just as risky. Gold chains are incredibly deceptive from pictures, just got lucky. Thanks
No never done a density test. I don't really need any tests to tell if something is gold these days I've handled so much of it. I use acid test just to confirm. My gold buyers don't even check my stuff any more they just know its good and that I honor anything if it comes up bad at the refiner. Thanks
im pretty lucky when it comes to garage sales ect... my daughter says i should do a yt channel lol i just got a 14kt bracelet 9 grams plus a few pairs of 14k earrings for 5 bucks in a bag of junk jewelry lol
Just simple search terms like 14K, 10K, 18K, platinum, sterling, antique. Stuff like that, just single key words and sort by new. I pass on a lot of decent deals. I'm looking for items with high quality. You would think good items would sell immediately, but most times you have a few minutes to research. Lots of sending best offers too. Thanks
good fake chains are so heavily plated that you need to file into the chain as deep as prudent and use acid on the notch. I cant imagine someone would sell a real solid chain like that for 50 bucks
@@ThriftHunter Dude. Only a developmentally disabled person would sell a 14K gold chain that has (had) a melt value of $1200.00 .... for $50.00... on eBay, no less, where they have to pay a sellers fee lol. In other words, you either 1.) got a fake chain, 2.) are lying, or, 3.) took advantage of a mentally handicapped eBay seller. I've seen some good deals below melt value out there... but not $50.00 for something worth $1,200 (which was the melt value at the time of this video posting).
@@ThriftHunter Impressive. I have scanned eBay the last two days, with all sorts of filters. I see nothing under melt value, let alone 4% of melt. Don't know how you do it, but congrats.
@@rawjhaw check auctions and gold lots. i purchased a gold lot for 350$ worth 1200$ in melt value of 14K 12K and 10K. earrings, necklaces, rings. also got a .2 CT 14K heart necklace for 25$ in a auction. not sure the retail but it’ll do for me. in auctions sometimes not enough people see or bid to get the full value of the auction. so you can get a good steak. in other cases a seller might steal a item and list it for whatever they want like what maybe happened here
The chain is not gold! It may pass the acid test on your video. But it does not pass the color test. I see the brown hue on the video as clear as day. Real 14k gold does not have a brown hue.
@@ChessQuizToday Old gold will tarnish especially if stored poorly. Think of it sitting in a safe for 40 years or something, it gains a patina. Check out some old Rolex presidents in 18K gold that are all toned. Or some old solid 14K oyster perpetuals. I've seen 18K that has gone all the way black. If this piece were cleaned it would be bright again. Also probably poor lighting.
@@ThriftHunter I do not know why you insist on this scam, or you are just ignorant. I have bought and sold gold now for 20 years. And what you just said is total bull shit. When you see a piece of 14k gold with a puke orange brown hue. It is a fake! The video does not lie!
You wouldn’t be making 1,000 or even close my brother sorry to say that the jewelers buy gold chains by the gram so the most they would give you is 500 or less
