I am certainly tempted by this kit as I have never built an ICM kit and they do look superb. I think the range of military vehicles in the range are both interesting and original and I agree with you on the packaging.
ICM, Miniart, AFV & Special Hobby are the most intriguing model companies going today. Subject matter is most exciting. I adore all of the G7107 single axle trucks recently released. Very interesting review. Slopping over with diorama ideas. If I entered your shop, I would be leaving with this kit. Smiling.
I think it looks great. People tend to forget ICM started in the 1990s offering a tow truck with their towed artillery/figure set. They've come a long and rocky way to their current quality. Great people behind the brand, too. Some muppet on Facebook was complaining about "how they even managed to put the field kitchen on the truck bed, the frame for the canvas roof blocks the chimney". It was both mildly amusing and migraine-giving. I refrained from answering the chimney could be taken off or you just tilt the bloody thing forward since you're not loading it on the truck with a full stew cooking in it. Great review as usual, Alex. Cheers.
I did the ICBM ambulance version of this Renault truck a while back . The Tamiya Goulash Kanone is still a good buy; Ive bought another one recently and it's in my 'to be made' queue - !
It would look interesting as a captured vehicle pressed into British service, maybe in North Africa. I agree on vinyl tires -- give me detailed styrene that paint will stick to.
Really interesting question - I've not done the Tamiya kit, so I can't offer any personal answer to that, but bear in mind that the Tamiya kit was tooled in 1978. It does come with food items and figures too, and the price is pretty good...I'd say if you bought them both you could take the best from the Tamiya kit to add to the ICM and make a really interesting kitbash
