First strategic game I picked up. Played with my son who is a HUGE WW1 fan. It’s long and detailed but relatively easy. Still feels very thematic and I love how it covers Africa, Middle East, uboats in Atlantic and naval battle with GB and German Imperial Navy. Plays great solo too! Love to hear your guys thoughts!
I received my copy here in the U.K. about a month ago. Very pleased with the quality of the components. Perhaps the rule book paper is a little too glossy - but that’s being picky.
Played this last weekend and I have to say I liked it quite a bit. It was lighter than Paths of Glory but still gave you the feel. The presentation is fantastic!
When I play it helps to have both play aids. One for the units and sequence and the other handy for force pool as it tells you what armies to add when each country enters the war. Man I want to go play it again now!!!!!
"sealed for freshness"! The artwork and production are definitely a step up from the first edition. You probably still have to house-rule the technology cards. It's one of my favorites
I have 1e and can attest it's a fantastic game. With the higher quality components in 2e and some tweaks/added cards, I am sure it's even better!! As someone send, lighter than PoG, but still very in-depth and should play in about 6 hours if you go the distance.
My copy is literally on a ship in the Pacific on the way over here. :) Also, a suggestion: when punching out counters to show off the quality, maybe punch out the blank ones? That way, you don't risk losing the actual counters since they'd be hanging around loose like that
