What this needs to really fulfill the role of outdoor beat maker is a sequencer, even if it is a simple three tracks one, or, at the very least, a looper (Like the Yamaha PSS A50
@@erikpaul8647 the Yamaha PSS A50 has a MIDI looper but it is more a portable keyboard than a synth (you won't be able to “sculpt” the on-board sounds). It's around $100. The option would be a SonicWare Liven XFm. It has a very capable 4 track sequencer, and a super flexible and deep FM synth engine. It takes batteries and includes a decent speaker. It'd be a little over $200 but that is less than the cost of the two Volcas. Oh, on top of that it allows you to sequence external gear (If you wanted to integrate it to a bigger set up).
Novation X station was a mini controller that they realised it had enough CPUs to be a great (wee) synth. I have one and it has. Ok it hasn't got a mini speaker but it is great thing from years ago.
Looks interesting! I've got an MPK Mini MK3 and it's a great little controller (even a significant improvement over the MK2), but this would be tempting otherwise. Nice touch to have shift functions for the encoders so you still have the 8 controls.
What kind of computer do I need for this keyboard mpk mini play. Some say we need a pc or mac windows computer. But I wanna make sure which computer to buy. Hope you understand English is not my first language. I got this keyboard but I want to begin on this and see I can create a hip hop beat for my own ears.
I’ve been looking to pick up one of these to use as a trigger within Logic Pro and honestly thought (based on the pictures I saw) that the “ears” were made of wood- not red plastic.
It sounds like it’s got the same sounds from the previous Akai Mini Play which really is disappointing. The pads and knobs look a lot better but if they had included midi I/O and some different sound this would have been a better upgrade. 😕
Pretty good work my man, Mine just arrived today. Cant wait to try it out. Any Suggestions or tips and tricks I should know Would be greatly appreciated. Keep it up Brother \m/
'Making beats, making memories' ... or more likely making babies 😉 especially if you own an Akai.... Excuse me luv would you like a wiggle of my joystick 🕹️?
Thanks for the review. I've had the Mini Play MK3 for a few weeks. It's great apart from some odd behaviour with the FX encoders not picking up the values properly. Not sure if you had the same problem? Look out for my review video soon, but in the meantime here's my unboxing vid! ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-yo7uWAH1HTA.html
Yeah, it could easily be a "must own" if it had better sounds, and a looper. The 3rd version...think they would have truly upgraded it or done some market research.
@@matthewgaines10 no, there has been one MPK Mini Play. They are calling this the MK3 because it now matches the standard MPK Mini MK3 in terms of design and midi features. But don’t for a second think I didn’t appreciate your condescending, yet inaccurate response.
