I was looking at buying my first chess set. after playing online for a while. This would be a rather interesting first set. If I were to win of course (highly unlikely)
It really is a beautiful chess set! Make sure you are subscribed to my channel and set the bell icon to "all notifications" because I will be giving away many more World Chess sets and many more things in the coming months! You don't want to miss the opportunity to get a free chess set!
@maximized Sorry, I meant that instead of working 3 months at a minimum wage job you have the chance of winning a set for free by entering the giveaway. Currently sitting at 148 entries, and with three prizes your odds are looking good!
Same here! This is by far my favorite chess set. Have you entered the giveaway that is running for this set? Entries close December 23rd. Here is the link: bit.ly/chessusee-win Best of luck, and thanks for watching!

I hope you do find some local chess players in your area! If not, perhaps you can introduce your friends and family to the game and arrange to meet for chess games once a week! This is how I started playing chess, and how I started a local chess club. If you ever have any questions about starting a chess club I'd be happy to help out!
True, but it is good to know that the board shows which side is supposed to be white and black. Playing chess sideways is playable but very weird for someone who learned to play with the right orientation!
@@ChessUSeeExcept that if you play "side to side" the queens & kings would be on the wrong sides & the black square & white square bishops would be on the wrong sides too.
@@stevecleaver8933 That's true! It completely changes up the openings and opening strategy for sure! I have played way too many games in this backwards style and it was pretty wacky. I think it would be a fun idea to play chess "backward" as a chess variant. Perhaps a petition might add it to Chess.com?
It really is an awesome chess set and I am still loving mine! If you're looking at getting anything on the World Chess website then use the code 'chessusee10" to instantly save 10% off your entire order over $47 USD. Enjoy!
At that price I want ebony pieces, not ebonized pieces! Low quality and basic design: they are absolutely not worth the money spent. Perfect for suckers 😂
This video is making me so excited, I'm from Nz and I'm getting this chess set in a short time from now, I'm also glad and thankful for the discount lol, also a great unboxing video!

As far as I can tell, it seems this is the style of chess pieces that have been used for the World Chess Championships since 2013. The board here is slightly different because it has hexagons of inlaid wood to show what color pieces should go on each side of the board. Hope this helps!
Absolutely! This is a beautiful set, and I'm very thankful to World Chess for sending me one! It is my prized chessboard. Hence I have it in the background of many of my videos on the channel lately. Thanks for watching!
Best of luck! The winner will be randomly selected in the next few days. Be sure to hit the notification bell to be notified of the giveaway winner announcement video!
2 inch squares?? are very small. Pieces look hemmed in. My 4” Soviet set from 90’s is on 2.37” board and is perfect. 2 inch are NOT fit for WC play. My opinion.
This board is called the World Chess Championship Set (Walnut Edition). Here's a link to the exact item: bit.ly/chessusee10 This board is a solid wood board with wooden pieces. There are no electronics in this set and it does not fold in half. This is a replica of the board (excluding internal electronics) that has been used for Magnus Carlsen's defenses of his World Chess Champion titles. Use the code "chessusee10" to get 10% off any order with World Chess. Hope this helps!
I am not familiar with the painting process for the pieces so I just took a guess in the video. I'm sure World Chess would have more information on the manufacturing process. You can contact them anytime here: shop@worldchess.com
Hi Lili, Looking at the World Chess website, it appears that the primary differences between the World Chess Championship Set (Walnut Edition that is featured in this video) and the World Chess Premium Set is that the Premium Set uses more expensive (I assume) woods such as Ebony, Maple, and Acacia for the board and Boxwood for the pieces. The World Chess Championship Set (Walnut Edition) uses only Maple for the board and Boxwood for the pieces. Additionally it seems that, while not photographed, the Premium Set also comes with a Bespoke storage box which is not included with the Championship Set. Hope this helps!
@@lehmankulli69It depends what is meant by "other ones." I don't know the price for a WCC premium markup but mathematically, I don't expect it to be much. Back when I played chess 15 years ago, a House of Staunton chess set in the quality and size of a tournament level was over $200 (they had more expensive sets than tournament level ones because those ones used rarer woods, I think some may have been available in materials like ivory or mammoth tusk that would be outlawed by now). The boards (from a different manufacturer back then) were around $60. They should be double the prices now as both have only gotten more expensive because there is no way to manufacturer to that level of quality in those woods via shortcuts. (For reference, looking at the HoS Zagreb '59 I bought for $80 in the mid 2000's, I see they still manufacture and sell the same version… for $170. The Zagreb was a budget-friendly set back then because it's made with cheaper woods and the knight is much simpler to carve., it's also a big smaller than more recent tournament sets) Given that, I think the markup for the WCC branding is rounding error territory. There are, of course, cheaper sets than House of Staunton, but the quality difference is noticeable instantly if it is a wooden set. I'm willing to bet these are House of Staunton too, there is no way to get around it, even back then nobody could approach their quality without cutting corners (always evident in the carving on the knight and also the wood types used, even amongst their own sets). If you just want to play, back then you can get perfectly good weighted plastic pieces done from molds. I'd recommend the same today. It's not the same, but quality-wise and practically speaking, it's the same. Of course, you won't get the appreciation in value that any HoS set (and a matching board) will give you.
This Is the most beautiful chess set if All, because of the knight wich us un harmony with the rest of the PIECES... But i see this set has to Nany little denys on Nany pieces 👍
So I got a set myself and started reading the reviews of dhl(I didn't get to choose) and I'm starting to get concerned. How was the shipping process for you? Because apparently they haven't had a great review in two years..
Hi Joshua, Congrats on your purchase, I trust you got 10% off your purchase? In my case, my board (and the giveaway board) were shipped via FedEx and they came from Northampton, England. It was shipped on Monday and arrived mid-afternoon on Friday of the same week. It did get held at customs for a bit before continuing its trip from Tennessee to Los Angeles. My shipment thankfully arrived without damage to the chess sets. Do you know where your set is being shipped from? If you don't mind, when did you place the order? Honestly, I didn't check the reviews of FedEx who shipped my board prior to the shipment, and I also didn't get to choose who shipped the boards. If you want, feel free to contact World Chess with any questions or concerns you may have about your order. They were very helpful to me when I had questions about my shipment as well. I am happy to help in any way that I can.
I did get the 10 percent off! Thank you btw! And i ordered it on friday the 21st of October 2022. I was supposedly supposed to get it tonight (October 26th) now they're telling me I'll get it tomorrow. I also got it delivered from England. Also i did email shop.worldchess and told them my concerns, they replied and told me that it's too late to change the shipping company. So I'm hoping ill have it tomorrow.
I'm just glad to help somebody save some cash! I hope you get the set tomorrow at least. I'd be happy to hear what you think about your set when you unbox it. Enjoy it!
Good news! I'm giving away more World Chess chess sets in April! Make sure to subscribe and set the bell to all notifications so you don't miss the giveaway!
Hello, This board is not an electronic one, but aside from that is identical to the World Chess Championship sets used by Magnus Carlsen in the defense of his World Champion title. This board with the internal electronics is going for around $1,500 while this non-electronic version is going for around $550. Thanks for watching and let me know if you have any other questions!

Yes, unfortunately this giveaway has concluded. However I have partnered up with World Chess to give away THREE chess sets this April, 2023! Make sure you are subscribed to the channel and set the notification bell to "all notifications" so that you don't miss the random drawing!
DO NOT BUY IT!!! I recently purchased this product and received it this week, shipped from England. I strongly advise against making this purchase. The board I received was damaged in the corner and the overall condition gave the impression of being second-hand. It was a far away from the beautiful appearance depicted in the website's videos and art photos. Moreover, the board bag shown in the 1:08 of this video was missing from my package. I am currently in contact with customer service to arrange an exchange. All in all, this has been a highly disappointing experience with this product. PS, the promote code of 10% discount works anyway.
Hi Patric, Thanks for sharing your experience with purchasing a World Chess set! I'm glad to hear your honest feedback and I hope World Chess is able to resolve the issue quickly! Did the box arrive damaged with your chess set? Sometimes the shipping carrier can drop parcels and damage the products inside during shipping. From what I have heard the canvas board bag comes only with the World Chess Championship set in Walnut Edition. Is this the board you purchased? If so I would highly recommend you email the company and explain your situation with the damaged board and the missing canvas board bag. In my experience they have been very flexible and quick to correct any issues with shipping or replacing sets with manufacturing defects. I'd be very interested to hear about how everything goes with this order as this information is very helpful to others who are thinking about buying from World Chess. If you have any other information about your order I would love to hear it so that I can better assist other customers of World Chess in the future. I'm glad to hear that the discount code is working! Thank you!
@@ChessUSee Thanks for your reply. I have got a replaced board after communication with CS. I bought Premium Chess Set, so you're right, there is no bag :( Looking forward more videos in your channel.
@@patriczhao1663 I'm glad to hear that they sorted things out for you, and hopefully in the future they will provide a chess board bag for all chess sets! Thanks for the follow-up and thanks for following us!

In 2023 I will make more videos dedicated to chess improvement, but for now, stop by a livestream to see me play some games! I give tips throughout the stream :)
This is the company that produces the chess sets for the World Chess Championship cycles and they produce top of the line sets that are approved by FIDE and co-designed by Magnus Carlsen and Vladimir Kramnik. I am very happy with the quality of the set and the professionalism of World Chess as a whole.
This is the World Chess Championship Set in Walnut, and is sold by World Chess. I've got a link in the description of the video to the product listing page. Enjoy!
I would buy this if my grandma was in America so that she can change her 2mil ₱ savings and I think 2mil would be around thousands of money in America which we can afford that.
I don't think that World Chess sells chess clocks at this time, but there are a lot of great ones that you can get online for fairly low prices. This is my favorite (and affordable, $40) chess timer: amzn.to/3TI6ioB Since it has no moving parts it is a lot more durable that timers with a moving lever.
In my experience with electronic chess boards (I have the Square Off Pro and ChessNut Air) I would recommend the ChessNut Air over the Square Off board. I find that it plays moves more smoothly, has far fewer errors in understanding the moves. Both boards can connect to Chess.com and Lichess and both are around the same price range ($200) last I checked. The ChessNut Air is significantly smaller in size than the Square Off Pro but it I still find it easy to use. I think I'll make a comparison video between these two sets in the future as that would probably help. Hope this helps! If you have any other questions please don't hesitate to send them my way.
Chess sets are certainly a matter of opinion, but I personally really like the size of the pieces compared to the square size of this chess set. World Chess does supply many other sizes of chess pieces as well so you could choose to get the board but not the pieces seen in this video. Thanks for watching!
The chess pieces are made in India and the boards too ig, but if an Indian buys it he/she has to pay almost $500 for the same thing which was actually made in India which is pretty weird.
The best hand carved pieces in the world have been made in India for at least the last two decades. Back then it was House of Staunton, which I wouldn't be surprised if this set is theirs also (OEM). I think there is a RU-vid video of the manufacture of their pieces, the labor intensity and generational skill needed is too difficult to replicate anywhere else. When you see what sort of work goes into it, you can see why they can't be had for a lower price, even in India. 15 years ago, the best boards were actually made in the US. Boards can be made anywhere since the biggest cost is the wood and the parts for it do not need to be hand carved like the pieces do.
They do have cheaper versions of this board, but the price reflects the size of the board. There is a Home Edition set that is 20% smaller than this set and accordingly is priced lower. Be sure to check the size of the board before you purchase!

I personally prefer the dark stain used on the pieces instead of dark wood. I think it makes the pieces look just a little nicer in contrast to the white wood they chose for the white pieces. But then again, that's just a personal preference! Im pretty sure World Chess offers different styles of chess pieces and boards if you want something different. Thanks for watching!

World Chess did not pay me to make this video but did send out the two chess sets for this video. They sets are very high-quality and are in my opinion very beautiful sets to admire!
The workmanship on my board is very nice for a handmade set. In my experience, if you get a board or pieces that are not to your satisfaction, they are very willing to help resolve the issue. Hope everything works out for you!
It's a poor piece of design, as you might expect from non-specialist architectural 'designers'. Mostly plagiarized from existing designs, with the world's ugliest knight thrown in. Save your money! You can buy astoundingly good copies of classic Jaques Staunton pieces for way less.
