LOL I just ordered two cheap diamond testers (1 for use and 1 for reserve and to check the reading of the first one). About 11 bucks per tester. I started reading more into these testers how they work. Apparently you can use thermal conductivity testers in most cases, but moissanite will have similar thermal conductivity as diamond. They say that diamond testers that also test for electrical conductivity can actually tell the difference between moisanite and diamond. I have not looked at these more sophisticated testers yet. // In the past at the beginning of my hobby: collecting moissanites and telling them apart from cheaper stones like Cubic Zirconia, glass (crystal?), the thermal tester would have been sifficient. Now it is fun for me to have the thermal testers to begin with, but to tell diamonds apart from moissanites, besides visual checks with the naked eye, it will be good to also have an electric conductivity tester. Have you used those or seen those in action? IS it correct what I say here?
