I can't fathom why you didn't even switch the thing on. A LOT can be determined from the sound of the machine when it runs.

Is the connection between the motor and the blades made out of plastic or metal?

The piece that the jug sits on is rubber/plastic. The piece that's attached to the jug and blade is metal.

Just out of curiosity Do you like the blender? And if so, would you recommend this blender?

Yes I like my blender, but only for simple blending - ice, soups, smoothies, etc. If you're looking to do things like nut butters or blending whole apples, I would suggest a Vitamix.

vitamix or blendtec whichever asthetic you prefer... i like the blendtec personally
