Traditionally they are flip around on each side for about three seconds in a hot skillet filled with oil. It doesn’t break and the tortilla doesn’t get all soggy and gross from absorbing the sauce.

This is the way I was taught by the Mexican family I worked for at a restaurant called Moreno’s-it really is the best way!

Even though when you lift your dish to the camera you can see most of them have cracked and split? I would never use water for tortillas, only hot oil or warmed enchilada sauce.

Thanks for sharing! I've seen it done with oil before, but this looks much easier

Actually frying in oil , flipping them for a few seconds, then immediately dipping it in enchilada sauce, then layering in baking pan

I bet if you dipped the tortilla in hot enchilada sauce you would get same result. That is even more genius.

No matter how fast I dipped my tortillas, they fell apart removing them from the water or if I just slightly dipped them in the boiling water the tortillas fell apart when trying to roll them. Didn't work for me.

Hate to be a sourpuss but pausing the video, some of those tortillas look broken, or in the process of breaking.

No one dare address the fact that they don't sell us a corn tortilla that won't disintegrate when we try to make a burrito with them. 99.9% of Videos on how to soften etc corn tortillas about about enchiladas lol, yeah, well that's fine, at the point that they fall apart, is makes no difference. I've tried every trick they come up with, they always just fall to pieces. A Mex Friend told me many years back that commercial corn tortillas are typically 'never' made from just corn, they are made with the entire cob, often more cob than corn, lol. A kings Ransome to anyone that can link me to a real corn tortilla made our of 'corn' that doesn't fall apart when used to make burritos.

Thanks, I'm definitely gonna try this. I like to dip mine in the sauce prior to filling too, give it a try. Thanks again.

I tried this but unfortunately they just fell apart. I even tried to quickly dip it and just fell apart. Glad it works for you. 🙂

Why not just heat your sauce, dip the tortilla, and roll.Less water, less chance they will disintegrate.

I've never been able to duplicate my Mom's tortillas but I do remember her soaking them in the enchilada sauce before filling and rolling. Thanks, your trick with the sauce being hot helped but still not the same.

thank you so much. I was freaking cause we were having guests and mine kept breaking. your a life saver.
@kev_mclernon_family_channe4745
Thank you so much!! One video had suggested spray grease and I was like Yikes!! Danger Will Robinson. Thank you for this. Only a teaspoon. Hmm. My problem is I make double stuffed enchiladas lol. Also. Can you share homemade enchilada sauce. The cost of Mexican ingredients from refried beans to sauces has gone that the roof. And cost of baking tins is ridiculous. I’m buying real baking dishes now. So the super markets are gouging us. Like I’m sure there’s tankers of refried beans and jalapeños sitting off the coast of LA. total baloney. Thank you for tip. Enchilada sauce recipe would be my Christmas present.

I tried it...they fell apart instantly? Could the brand be a part of my problem?

It would be better to dip it in the sauce instead of water. That way you're reinforcing the flavors

Actually 1 second in the simmering water is what worked for me. 3 seconds and they fall apart.
