VCU Medical Center and Children's Hospital of Richmond at VCU recently participated in a two-year clinical trial to test a promising gene therapy for sickle cell disease. Long-time VCU Health patient Walter Davis was part of the first group to test the revolutionary treatment. VCU Health's adult and pediatric sickle cell experts closely work together to provide comprehensive care to patients, like Walter, who grow up coming to the health system for specialized care.
