Man this segment here had me in tears, bc my mom died at the age of 53, i was only 31 years old, but i was so glad my mom got too see me make someone of myself before God took her home, she was so proud of me, and the woman I had become, I got too do something my mom had yearn too do, and that was become a homeowner, i was the first grandchild on both sides too become a homeowner by myself

Very true!! But some of us persevere through the family trauma to end generational abuse, addiction, and trauma too. While others sadly follow those footsteps. Addiction and mental health tends to pass down through families but it can be overcome 🙏

The fact that Patrick Mahomes Sr was a former Pro Athlete himself who played in the MLB for 11 seasons (1992 - 2003). You would think he would've known what to do and not to do as a Pro Athlete. Stayed out of trouble the whole time while playing, then his son becomes a more Famous Athlete than he ever was and he can't stay out of trouble now. Smh.

Unc & Ocho, I know the pain of having an addict in the family. They don't tink logicaly about what that addiction is doing to them and their family. I just let them Know I love them and kept trying to help them get the help they needed. Eventually they turned it around. Man Unc, Ocho, today you ripped out my clutch. I (a man) got full-custody of our two boys because of the substances mentioned. Sad when the personality changes. You don’t know that person you love so deeply. Hurts man. Hurts because adjusting to the new requirements life throws at you, one person must modify EVERYTHING to ensure the proper raising of kids. It DEMANDS full attention and time. Don’t regret it though. My young men love to work hard, and still, love deeply. God is GOOD!!!

I am glad he didnt allow that trauma to hold him back from becoming an elite athlete. I am sure athletics were an outlet for him to channel that emotion. Yeah she was outta control on that show to the whole crew and never took responsibility for their relationship.

thank y’all for this interview. i think i may have a problem with drinking. and i think my dad might as well. 90% of the time we drink it’s all fun. that 10% of the time drink we become resentful and angry and the consequences it has had on my life are more than any other activity. now most of these consequences are having to deal with my own anxiety or guilt. but you both are an inspiration to me. i can’t foresee a future for myself or father that is completely sober to be honest, but i want to be better like y’all.

Growing up with an alcoholic parent isn't easy, but it makes you a strong individual because you learn from their mistakes. It's sad that Pat Sr. made another bad decision and that this time it's happening before the Super Bowl. Pat will rise above it and not let it effect him. Unc is right, when a family member is in the spotlight, the other family members need to check themselves and act accordingly, not act up or out.

This was such an amazing episode, both of you so raw and real and courageous in sharing the pain of parents not doing what they are supposed to do for their children. To what do you attribute your ability to overcome that reality when so many others cannot or do not? It sounds like your grandparents/grandmother were remarkable, loving, amazing people who took the responsibility of giving you the love and security you should have gotten from your dad and mom.

I can relate to Patrick Mahomes. Being lightskin, having a dad who was an OG but can’t act his age, white mom, a brother who acts “Minty” and a wife who lacks self awareness. Edit #1: You guys are funny!! Thanks for the likes!! Just remember, truth is always hidden in every joke. I might be joking about all of it or just some of it. Edit #2: Also you guys don’t know what “Minty” is?? “Sugar in the tank” “Cutting the crust off” “Sweet”?? Jackson uses a butter knife to cut his steak if you know what I mean.
