UNC manhandles Dook to win the ACC regular season championship, thanks to strong performances by everyone wearing light blue and the fact that only Smith and Curry bring their game on the road.
Point is Duke has never had to completely rebuild the way UNC has, at least not in this modern era. Duke has never lost 80% of their scoring the following year. Replacing 5 starters and expecting the same kind of year is impossible, regardless of the coach.
Thank you Roy Williams for seeing the light, and switching to Kendall Marshall. After getting mollywhopped by Duke in the 2010 season finale, UNC has beaten Duke in the 2005, 2008, 2009, 2011, 2012 finales to clinch the ACC title outright. How sweet it is!!
Loved this game to win the ACC. But I really loved the beat down at Duke the following year. I've re-watched that game more than a few times over the years!
The dookies boys wasn't ready, we have a whole new team this year and we going for our 6 trophy!!!! This was great game and I looking forward my Carolina team to shut them out again!
God, This unit should have won at least one NC! They had great guard play with Marshall, Strickland and McDonald. Barnes in the 2nd Half of the 201-11 season was a beast. Zeller and Henson were nice down low. Bullock was injured that latter part of the season and could of used him. 2012 Team, sad to see when they got to the Elite 8 against Kansas, their entire back court from 2011 was all sidelined due to injuries. Barnes without Marshall in the Sweet 16 and Elite 8 wasn't the same player. Lost Opportunities I guess!
Because Laettner was one of the nasty's player to ever play the game and the best college player ever so he would have been good if he would have been on a good team
This is just one of those years like 2 years ago when duke dominated the rivalry... except UNC will dominate this time, I mean if UNC won this game by 14 last year, and Duke loses their top three scorers with UNC actually getting better, how could anyone argue that UNC wont dominate.
UNC depends on that home cookin even more now since their players have to actually go to class. Duke is bringing it strong next year, with one hell of a recruiting class, it even makes Kentucky jealous
UNC will win the ACC this year with Duke coming in second. I wouldn't sleep on UNC's recruiting class either considering a UNC and Duke player were co-MVP's in the McDonald's All-American game.
I was wondering the same thing, coz this UNC squad ranks in the Top 10 in points per game, yet in most of the games they've lost thus far, they look like a team that had never played basketball before. Hopefully this lineup change spurs the team on to better things.
i can't say this year the team is weak, i will always argue they are poorly coached. Roy refuses to be wrong when it comes to line up changes. 9 of 10 coaches start their best 5 and play to teams strength. this team is not built to have the typical pg,sg,sf,pf,c line up but he tried to force it...now he switch to "small" line up and UNC looks WAAAY better. everybody been calling for this change.
@HPMainMafia Coach K has been coaching almost twice as long as Roy Williams. I feel that Roy has accomplished as much as Coach K has in his 20 years of coaching as Coach K did in his first 20 years. Of Course the stats are going favor Coach K. They both are great Coaches. To me, when Roy gets to the place where Coach K is at in coaching he will be a better coach! I just wish people would stop comparing!

@Egnima022 If I remember correctly, Duke lost in the Sweet 16 last year, and the round of 64 this year - And UNC has more Nat'l Championships than Duke, More head-to-head wins vs Duke, and WAY better NBA players. Just face it, UNC OWNS Duke.

Who does dook have: smith, curry, and sometimes singler. who does unc have: barnes, henson, zeller, marshall, strickland, knox, mcdonald, etc. who do you thinks the better team?
Kendall Marshall, Leslie McDonald are a lot better players that their stats would suggest. This game is a whole lot better than most nba games. Duke will be stack this yeard tho and UNC 2012 recruiting class is a joke. right now.
@BeaglesRuleTheRoost He has won two actually but you are forgetting final 4's and elite 8 appearances, UNC has had more success on the Tourney than duke has since Roy came.

Disagree. Not from a UNC fan perspective, but from a sports analysis perspective. Go check the top recruiting classes over the past 5-6 years. UNC usually ranks higher than Duke, and if they don't they are generally not far behind.
because, for one there was a weak recruiting class, Marcus Paige was the #1 point guard and was only a 4 star recruit...UNC got all 4 star recruits. Additionally, UNC is weak because they have so little experience. Sure there are good players like Bullock, and Hairston, and McAdoo, but they can't do it by themselves. They aren't weak for my expectations of this year. They got recruits that will be there for years, not just one and dones.

That's not necessarily true, look at tyler hansbrough. leading scorer in college bball history, garbage pro. some people's skill sets don't translate to the NBA. look at adam morrison also.
Laettner was shit in the pros. Antwan was so much better than him it's not even close. Same with Kenny Smith vs Bobby Hurley. Hurley barely even played. Kenny Smith was a all star point gaurd. And even Vince Carter was a top 10 player in the league in his prime. Grant Hill was just a solid 17-20 a game guy. Vince put up 25 a night in his prime.
