This was about when I stopped reading comics before returning to omnis about 4 years ago. Will be interesting to see how it stands up now as I got a bit jaded with it back them. Art looks much better than I remember and as you say great to have 1-5 lined up on the shelf. 2 will always be the high point for me though
This is also my stopping point for X-Men Omnis and oversized hardcovers (except for Wolverine Vol 4) and whenever they bridge the gap between ASM Vol 5 and Roger Stern and the gap between Stern and Michelinie/McFarlane that's probably it for me for Spider-Man as well (assuming the Micheline/Bagley Omnis coming out run up to the Clone Saga)
I think it's probably a logical stopping point for a lot of people as far as X-Men omnibuses go, it just gives me a feeling of completeness now looking at them on the shelf
@@TheComicBookTrove Me too! I started reading this a few days ago along with Thanos Wars and can't wait to read through the rest of Claremont's era...I may get XTreme X-Men as well but I remember not liking it too much back when it came out and was around the time superhero comics mostly started to lose the look, feel and style that I enjoy with some exceptions
Great review, this feels like a stopping point for me since I have the event omnis. Love that Barry Windsor-Smith artwork - he's my second favorite artist from X-men in this era behind Paul Smith. The Longshot miniseries is fun but I never warmed to that character being with the X-Men - he's ok but I never felt that he fit in with them. Glad the New Mutants annual that introdues Psylocke is in here, otherwise she would just appear without explanation. Good content here, but I will say, the pages really stood out to me for being very thin, with the art on opposite sides of the page being visible very clearly to the point of being distracting at times.
Thanks for watching! The pages are definitely thinner in these books than they used to be, I'm just kinda used to it by now I think but it can be distracting when you see some artwork bleed through a page.
So glad to see you drop another video. Now I'm thinking I better order this omnibus after you and Omar reviewed it. I have the X-Men Children of the Atom boxed set that came out a couple of years back, and after that I need to target the omnibus editions. I'm thinking Children of the Atom boxed set > X-Men Classic > Omni vol. 3 > Omni vol. 4 > Omni vol. 5. Sound about right??? Anyway, love this channel. Can't wait for the next review.
Thanks for watching! And yeah that's probably the best way to collect them if you have that box set. The slightly annoying thing is the box set stops about ten issues short of what Omnibus Vol 2 collects, so there would be a slight gap between the box and omnibus Vol 3
@@TheComicBookTrove Yeah I just noticed that earlier too. That is annoying, and I'd have to either double dip when/if volume 2 is reprinted, find a trade paperback (not sure which as I type this) or do Marvel Unlimited. Shame, because that gap is at the time X-Men is at the best it's ever been.
I see the comments were moved over to this gray section where the video menu was. I thought it was just for one video about Jannis Inian and saw that was for another song and even this one. A big change for You Tube since changing the like symbol to a thumbs up . Make me not come back here. Not a good frame. Face book and Yahoo change like that and glad I did not have to get used to another look. here. Thought another site at first or clicked on something that changed the format like when making the size of video screen change. Having the comments on the bottom and the other videos on the right was much better. Maybe doing an Ian Musk. the Muske of You Tube. or at least he did not change the way out of X. Should have been put up for a vote or ask we like this version of the page. The end of an era.
