If you play this game today (Uncharted 1 alone), in 2015, no matter if you´re a console or PC gamer, knowing that the game came out 8 years ago, ill guarantee you that youll be impressed. Even if you play the original PS3 version, you´d still be impressed at times. Pretty easy to understand why people love this game so much since the getgo.
Few say "its a shame doing this remasters". Well, good luck trying to tell that to those tons of PS4 gamers out there who didnt had the chance to have a ps3 last gen, and now were given the oportunity to get 3 of the best SONY PS3 exclusives from last generation that they always wanted to play? All in one disc? Come on now. Arguing against that, its just too freaking salty. Its almost as if you´re an Anti-Gaming/Gamers.
+Edgar Gomez yeah remasters make the game run better and look better. I personally love remastered versions of the best games we have played done in this quality as Uncharted have. I would love to see Driver 1&2 get a remastered version. If they dont like Uncharted remastered collection dont buy it but they need to stop telling me or others that love this remaster to not buy it. We will and they will too just giving us devine poetry here to look interesting and clever lol.
You can see how ND have gotten better and better with each game when it comes to visuals, performance etc and as well as in story telling. Outdoing themselves with each game... Look at UC1 then UC2 and so on. The games kept getting better visually as well as ran better with each game. Back in 2006-07 when UC1 was announced, no one would have believed that a game like TLOU would be even possible of looking or running on PS3 the way it did now. And mind you, the graphical jump between PS2 and PS3 with UC1 itself was huge at that time. Naughty Dog has been known to push the boundaries when it comes to the visuals for their games. And there's no doubt in my mind that they'll do exactly that yet again with the PS4.
+Md Ray The demo was sick I played it like 6 times already. I had it pre ordered before the demo but now I know these games will look great and play smooth after that demo.
yeah the uncharted 4 demo was mind blowing. This is my favorite company both for single player games and multiplayer games. We can expect the last of us 2 by early or late 2017. This team makes amazing stories man I really love how dark and selfish and at the same time caring Joel told ellie they didn't need her for anything. Man that ending was deep.
For a 2007 game it was beautiful and worldly realistic. With the wax-like skin, low frame rate, screen tearing and not the greatest of optimisation, it was still so awesome back then. The reason it had all issues as stated above is because of the lack of familiarity with next-gen hardware, ND said themselves. They also stated they used about 30% of the PS3's power when making this game thinking they had 'mastered' it. Then in Uncharted 2 they were at 70% familiarity and it went up from there. Uncharted 2, 3 and The Last of Us are the peak of graphical desultory on the PS3. No Xbox or other ps game came close. And then there is the Remastered. They did all of the games justice and turned already fantastic looking games into beautiful, somewhat lifelike looking games. Grats to both companies. Take note every game Dev who chooses to 'Remaster'
I liked the Return to Arkham collection quite a bit, but I will say Nathan Drake Collection has it beat. 60fps for all games for improved graphics/textures all around as opposed to 30fps with some improved and some looking worse
I am playing this game now for the first time, on PS3 - and I am amazed how well this game has held up. Released in 2007 and still looks damn good even on PS3!
+KrazyBean14 I can't wait to play this the 9th disgaea 5 the 6th and battlefront beta the 8th. Going to be an awesome month of gaming to bad I can't get my hands on any of them games till next week.
+KrazyBean14 turn on your ps3 and have fun for free or go buy all 3 for less than 30 bucks on the ps3 online or at a pawn shop. these changes are extremely minor. so minor that this guy narrating goes out of his way to fine tooth come point out the minor changes. it's not enough to merit a repurchase. and the multiplayer has been striped!!! not even slightly excusable.
str8jaber 1) I really don't care about the multiplayer to be completely honest. I don't even want the Uncharted 4 multiplayer beta code which comes with this game. I doubt people will even play they multiplayer for 2 and 3 anymore when 4 comes out. 2) 60fps is more than enough for me to get this, it makes a massive difference to gameplay. Combine that with the gameplay tweaks to Uncharted 1 and the fact that you play it with the vastly superior Dualshock 4 and it seems to make the game way more fun to play (Uncharted 1 hasn't aged well at all IMO). 3) Yes the graphical enhancements aren't that huge of a leap for 2 and 3 but it definitely helps 1 a lot, not to mention that the crappy screen tearing and super long texture loading for 1 is completely removed in this version. These changes aren't negligible, so I think what I will do is trade in the PS3 copies I have and get the superior version at a reduced price. It also saves me space and time since all 3 games are on one disk and on the PS4 as well.
***** Id rather pay more and get 1080p 60fps. I sold my ps3 anyways after seeing how lousy my 720p games looked next to my ps4 1080p games it was gone fast after that.
this remaster is only good for those who've never played the uncharted series ever. for anyone who has, it's more of a port than anything. i just wish they would've did their greatest ip some justice and redid it from the ground up using every resource that the ps4 could've provided. but they didn't! they did the bare minimum just like sony's been doing this entire generation. slap 1080p and maybe 60fps on a game and resale you the same game that you already own. then rise and repeat. this got old very quick with me. the order 1886 flopped, but i gave them massive credit for doing that game because they actually tried to give the consumers a real nextgen experience. blood born isn't my style of game, but i gave them credit for the same. effort is what im getting at, and the same type of effort (or more) should be applied to their greatest ip. not this brainwashed 10800p crap and maybe 60fps while stripping away features. some would say that it was stripped to hit certain achievements (1080p/60fps/ or 60fps on on 3 games)
There is some areas where lighting could have been better. I think adding the triangle button prompt to grab the rope to enter the plane and after climbing the tower would help the flow of the game since you press triangle to interact with everything else
It's interesting how remasters often tend to dilute some of the strong artistic choices in the original game. BluePoint did an amazing job with this one but they seem to have chosen to make the lighting more even and thus less dramatic in a number of scenes. The high contrast jungles were part of what made the first game look so striking so it's a shame to see the effect minimized. It also seems like the lighting in some scenes is not as warm as they were in the original. Minor quibbles for a great port but it seems like other developers often play it a bit more safe when it comes to the look of a game.
good point. but we will never know if the original way with "low-profile" lighting was artistic choice or actually due to technical limitation. But I do agree, I'd rather the original game with the more dramatic and contrast lighting.
The Nvidia based Nv47 GPU in PS3, the RSX custom is capable of rendering a featured that Nvidia's hype machine termed "Super Shadow" which originally iirc showed up on the Nv30 aka GeForce 5800 as a selling point for then Doom 3 and Doom 3 RoE. Iirc Nvidia's Super Shadow was (without looking it up) was capable of rendering a more accurate Shadow effect along with the use of lighting like with how old Doom 3 (which ironically was really demoed way back in 2002 and leaked (or was it 2001?) And basically the entire point wad of using darkness and shadows to further add depth, atmosphere, and the terror factor in a firefight... or at least that was the potential as most PC gamers even back then tended to CHEAT by disabling "Stencil Shadow" effects calculations which in multi player online revealed unfair cheaters as you could not hide In a dark spot in Return to Castle Wolfenstein for example, rendering the feature a joke... It didn't help that Id Software was over hyping the crap out of Doom 3 and their engine only to find out that their so called complex Shadow systems just could not handle... something or perhaps sloppy coding and they produced an online mode which intentionally limited maps to four player afairs which is a lower number and implied that because of the dark shadows that player encounters would be more intense... Which is a half truth as most online fps and third person shooter games intentionally CHEAT the player from having advanced dark Shadow calculations for a closer to true night time like lighting and darkness and shadows... thus if you're playing a game in a "night mission" and you can see everything, that is pure crap because it's like fearing the casual gamers being terrorized from the harsh reality that in a realistic night battle, even a flashlight has to be used extremely carefully. Thus Nvidia's Super Shadow tech was supposed to accelerate the darkness and shadow calculations and possibly enable fully volumetric Shadow rendering depending on the skills of the game developer and the original Uncharted games were definitely playing with this capability but using custom programming, TLOU and Capcom's Dragon's Dogma also approximated these darkness and lighting scenes which could show some dazzling lighting during darkness fire fights or Magick spell casting and effects which added a freaky and terror like atmosphere in the games. I feel that Blue Point Games kinda made a trade off because this wad conversation to PS4 which despite being more powerful on paper, is AMD hardware and although higher volumetric shadows and lighting effects could be replicated... that was probably too much extra work when you factor that on PS4 Pro the game is targeting full 4K... even if it's a conversion to a PS3 hardware game.
Nostalgia goggles. I played 3 as a kid on PS3 and it blew my mind. Finally played 1 on PS4 this month and... it is underwhelming. Still loads of fun but not great by any means. Then I loaded up Uncharted 2 for the first time a few days ago. THAT is mind-blowing and holds up very well today.
This seems like one of those remasters that at face value, you don't really see much of a difference (besides framerate). But upon closer look, like in this video, you really see all of the small changes that they made. It's pretty impressive.
if people want to spend their money on remastered games it's their choice. I personally never get tired of the uncharted franchise and will be buying this again
You bet! For me also, it was the only game I ever remember to have finished 2 times on PS3! Is hard to say, I liked more than 2 or 3. I guess is more magical? Or maybe is the combat that was harder and therefore more fun. Uncharted 3 felt too automatic, combat felt more automatized, but on 1 you had to do the combos yourself, etc.
@@nashismox3 I think I played 2 or 3 times to get the platinum trophy, only game I have ever replayed fully. It came with the PS3 and I was lucky I got to experience it. Didn't eveb bother playing it in Uncharted Drake Collection because the game's campaign is still vivid in my mind 10+ years later.
I’ll never forget getting my BC Fatboy PS3 in 07’ and playing this game immediately, on my 50” 720p DLP. I miss that TV. Games looked incredible on it, very sharp, yet it had a smoothness to the lighting and textures. The graphical jump from PS2 to PS3 was enormous. Glad I get to enjoy these games today with my kids on PS4. They love to watch me play the Uncharted games. I let them try and figure out the physical puzzles. I have Uncharted 4, and haven’t played it, or part 3 yet. Still working my way through part 2 right now.
+EVEmasta lol Meanwhile Uncharted looks the same as the PS3 versions. Piece of shit just like God of war 3. Graphics of Uncharted look the same but with MISSING content like the MP/ online & sony is charging you FULL price lol. Suckers. Stay sparse sony fanboy with your PORT of uncharted and a VITA port this holiday. Piece of shit lol
+EVEmasta the 30fps might be a bummer but the actual remaster is not half assed at all!. new engine, new cutscenes etc. you're being to harsh while uncharted runs at 60 and just looks better (as it should)
I dont know why but no matter how many times I see these videos i just keep rewatching. Is it to feel nostalgia to an easier and better time? Or is it that I miss the Uncharted hype? Id love a Remake with Bruce and Amy .
I had to try playing uncharted 3 on PS3 again, just to see how it feels after the remaster. To my surprise I just had to keep on playing the old version. It has its own unique charm and nostalgia to it.
The ps4 version seems to be missing the specular effects of the original. I played the demo last night and was wondering why it looked so flat, then watched comparison videos this morning and confirmed it. The specularity on the materials is largely missing. very weird. Also, Drakes clothes dont seem to have the "wet" effect of the original. To see missing specular action, go to 1:50 in the video and look at the fern by the log. that is just one example.
+thomas shaw ok, I see it is sort of a scene by scene thing. Still I do prefer the harder spectral quality and the darker contrast. Everything just looks too soft now and sort of cartoony.
Man I don’t know there’s just something about 30fps that seems more “special” even “magical. Like watching the jeep chase scene and jumping the bridge it’s like the smoothness of the 60fps kills the atmosphere and doesn’t seem as fantastical than the 30fps. Not sure why that is but the smoothness seems to be killing the feeling of the game. Some times “real” isn’t what the experience needs
You know looking back, I get what those guys at RAD were trying to say, playing the order 1886 at 60fps might ruin the atmosphere for the rest of the game outside of combat being beneficial
@@tebander956 I agree I believe. Most of what I look back at my best “gaming” all came from ps3 at 30fps back in 2010’s and such. And I think. Just a like a movie runs at 24fps. 30fps has some sort of similar psychological effect. A more. “Subconscious” dragging in effect. Where 60fps seems to “real” to be sensationalized by the mind and made to seem more of an “illusion” and thus fully experienced by the mind
@@tebander956 I think it’s not about “the genre” I think the important thing here is if you want it to feel “like a story” or more “subliminal”. Because 24fps and 30fps taps into the mind a little different than just “reality”
OK so I'm just done re-playing Drake's Fortune via this collection and I'll admit the work done on UDF is very impressive - Nate's face looks great, all the character models are better, all the blur from post effects is removed meaning the entire game just looks cleaner all round, re-done and animated explosions, new lighting effects and flashlight effects. Smoother textures for the U-Boat and come of the interiors are cleaner then the original. Most of the skyboxes are re-doe with better lighting and higher quality artwork. Zero texture pop in or load glitches. No Jaggies. Smooth 60 fps & 1080p is glorious! Here's what DF forgot to mention : The glistening Bump-mapped textures in the 'Treasure Vault' are entirely missing... they are now flat textures with no bump maps or shine to them... sad I really wanted to see that part looking amazing... better on PS3 there! Same with those bump mapped windows in the bunker, they look flat now... the plants and foliage have missing/toned down spectral effects, the cliffside where Nate uses vines to swing on is now tinted green - it looks alittle sickly in the re-master as it was originally white to match the Fort colour. The water room where Nate's ambushed is WAY too dark to see anything, the ending skybox and boat scenes still look ridiculous! Although there's better cloth physics in the re-master. You really see the cartoony vibe they had in the first game with the re-done assets and graphics, never realised that before. All in all 95% improved and that last 5% still looking meh... Good effort though!
The thing that stood out to me the most is the improvement on Nathan's face. They somehow (more or less) managed to take Nate's head from Uncharted 3 and put in onto his Uncharted 1 model. Impresseive. You can tell Bluepoint specialise in remasters and remakes exclusively.
Did anyone else notice drakes shirt moving with his body, not many games have that, and for the ps3 version back in 2007 to have detail like that is astounding, seriously though for 2007 this shit was advanced looking at the time.
***** Of course I have, but cloth physics in crysis werent as advanced, but the sandbox engine with the visuals at that time were amazing and still are, im just stating a console game from that time to have something not even most modern games have with realistic cloth movement on the characters body is impressive.
At the time if it's release, Uncharted had some of the best visuals around. Sure today you'll see the aged look, but that is true for every game released at that time.
Not trying to take away from it, but the remaster lacks a certain visual flavor of the original. While I'd definitely rather play it than the PS3 original (especially with 60fps), the whole remaster is brightly and flatly lit for my taste. The original had a nice high contrast that I visually dig a lot more. Glad they fixed the shimmery plastic look of the characters though!
From what ive seen most games that where on both ps3 n ps4 are like computer on low settings n computer on high settings..i see nothin wrong with the ps3 graphics. Ps3 to ps4 was not as big of leap as ps2 was too ps3.yes ps4 is better graphically..wii u is very very lil difffrence over ps3 n xbox 360..but ps4 is a bigger jump.
the original UC was a tour de force and a surprise of how, taken seriously, was a reminder that a game could provide a near movie like experience. At that time, the visuals were phenomenal, and was that gen's "Metal Gear Solid"
Agree PS4 Remastered 👍❤60frs 1080p more movement textures very good PS3 Original 2007 still very good looking game any way i love both PS4 REMASTERED take it
To be honest, I like the water shader from the PS3 version better. Apart from that, everything is better. Nathan Drake doesn't look like he's made of plastic anymore, although some may miss that slightly cartoon look. The colours are less vibrant in the remaster, and Drake's eyes are oddly coloured.
Wow look at this,I've both ps3 and ps4 but never played any version of this game yet,so now is the perfect time to play the first three series of Uncharted
Great to know that Bluepoint has improved the overall aspect of Uncharted: Drake's Fortune being more polished this time. Next up, comparison between PS3 & PS4 versions of Uncharted 2 & 3.
I thought and I still think to this day the ps3 version is magnificent, if u look at certain games that came out right after or a couple years after this game like assassin's creed 3 or Spider-Man it does an amazing job with graphics voice equaling mouth movement textures and much more naughty dog did a great job at the start.
Loved this game on the PS3, and loved replaying it on the PS4 with the higher frame rate, higher resolution, and improved textures, lighting etc. The PS4 remaster was done very well and made the experience of playing through the game more enjoyable then it was on the PS3 which was already very enjoyable as it was.
NG really preserved this game well with this rematser, I couldn't play Uc1 after starting off with uc2 lol. So this was a treat, and the biggest leap imo
I wish Idol Minds would have spent this kind of time and detail on the Ratchet & Clank Trilogy Remaster. I was so pissed when I wasted my money on that game on PS3...
5:00 Surely those weird pop-ins would also have to do with the way and how fast the PS3 loads. - Perhaps if it wasn't read from disc or maybe from an SSD instead of a HDD, it wouldn't have that problem. - The PS3 might have lower resolutions and overall graphical fidelity, but there's simply an issue with loading things in anyway. - 'Uncharted' was to the PS3 what 'Shadow of the Colossus' was to the PS2 anyway; Too ambitious and ahead of its time, wanting to be literal next-generation game without having the technology for it. - Ironically, now "Shadow" has probably surpassed the remaster of 'Uncharted' with its remake for the PS4.
The only thing that disappoints me about all this is that Uncharted 4 will come out next year running at shitty 30 FPS again. It's so painfully obvious how big an improvement 60 FPS is when you go from playing these games on PS3 to PS4, but then when it comes time for an actual PS4 game to come out, suddenly we're stuck with 30 FPS again. Maybe I'll just wait for PS5 and Uncharted 4 Remastered to come out so I can play the game at nice smooth 60 FPS instead of slow, laggy, unresponsive, screen tearing sub 30 FPS.
An amazing remaster for people who have never played it, or fans of the series who would replay the series but don't want to play the now extremely outdated versions.
Finally sitting down to play the entire series for the first time and starting with 1, hoping to enjoy it as much as everyone else has throughout the years
By removing Multi-player from those 3 games, you get all your players locked into the Multi-player of Uncharted 4. From the perspective of Naughty Dog and Bluepoint Games, it makes all the sense in the world. First, on the money side: it forces people who are way into Multi-Player to buy UC4 which is money for Naughty Dog. Also, it's money saved by Blupoint Games to not to have to do conversions for Multi-player on THREE games. Also, time and resources saved is good because they had to convert 3 games to begin with. It might've been impossible to get the games done in time for the timed release of the holidays. At this point, it's perfect. Early October release allows a player to play all 3 games before the March release of UC4. Adding in Multi-player could've potentially pushed the collection to be released too close to UC4 and effectively competing with the new game. Also, when you factor in new servers for 3 additional games, major money saved. Then on the gaming side: you are putting all of your fan base into the multi-player of UC4 without splitting it up with a random amount into 4 games. That's huge. Keeping everyone together will keep the focus on the new game which will probably have the best Multi-player experience thus far in the Uncharted franchise. It's really win-win for everyone.
Playing U1 on PS4 pro in 2024 after playing U4 on PC with 3090 at 4K in Ultra seems funny. U1 looks like a low poly cartoon. But it is still exciting. Got PS4 pro just to play U1,U2,U3. U4 was that good.
yesterday I bought "The Nathan Drake Collection for PS4 in a gaming store. The salesman told me to start with the third part of the game collection because the first two were pretty boring. I decided to start with part 1 and I think this is a very awesome game. Im very exciting how the other uncharted chapters will be.
If theres one thing I've learned, is to NEVER listen to salesman from gaming stores. How do you expect someone to buy a story focused game trilogy and just skip the first two entries lol
We need a Nathan Drake and Lara Croft cross over game. Choose between Nathan or Lara, the game involves the two competing in a way to find treasures, and some way they end up working together, etc. That would be tons of fun. And a lot of work for Naughty Dog and SquareEnix lol
Man, I really need to save up for a PS4 before Uncharted 4 hits store shelves. I really hope Sony does an Uncharted series console bundle (which would include the PS4 (maybe the 1 TB version), the Nathan Drake Collection, and Uncharted 4). If not, take notes Sony =D
These Uncharted remasters are great. They could've just doubled the framerate and left it but nope they did a whole load of other work too. Impressive. More 60 fps content please Naughty Dog!
