The most classic of classic Tennessee Whiskey's inspiration and role model. Big thanks to Daniel Whittington himself for the bottle (?). Not sure how to credit the man but hey, there you go.
You forgot to mention that an African American Women Fawn Weaver purchased the farm. She researched the back story between Green and Jack Daniel. It has won over 280 awards since 2019'-2022 and the first African American female Master Blender Green's great-great granddaughter Eddy who is award winning twice now.
Fun fact: Most of the water filters used for hiking/backpacking have charcoal as a main component. Interesting that moved from water filtering in one country to liquor filtering in another.
I really enjoyed this whiskey. I like it neat, but one thing I enjoy is having it with ice. As the ice melts there are these different flavors that start to pop out at you. Someone else in the comments mentioned this, but I have to second that it goes great with a cigar.
It's been awhile. Fun to drop in, and share a drink with you. I almost grabbed this for February, but felt it was too much just "chasing the curve". Thanks for keeping it fun!
Daniel it looks like a scorpions on the straps of your overalls (I could be wrong) I think they look cool man, The history behind the name made me Google and learn more, thank you. As usual great review.
It's the man-bun on Rex, and the skinny jeans on Daniel. That's why they call y'all hipsters. I'm not saying that's the case,... I'm just explaining why other people are saying it. I also think that alot of people just call all millennials hipsters because they don't even know what it means. Is it supposed to be an insult? I dig the flannel shirts and the high and tight haircuts,... I share their fashion sense. The hipsters are my favorite people under forty, basically the only people under forty that I can stand.
It was shown on an episode a few months back... not sure where/when, but they talked about it like Daniel was Viggo the Carpathian from Ghost Busters 2 (the painting is very different from Viggo, but there is an ominous quality to Daniel's painting)
STop it, STop it! I've taste a lot of gasoline in my day from sucking out gas from cars. The Uncle. N' small batch taste worse then gas. I'm still holding out from tasting the premium. I might like the taste of the gas better also. It's a shame, some folks can not be honest in their reviews, because of kick back on who made this??? I'm still recovering from drinking TIN CUP. Maybe I should kiss Nancy. P' to get the taste out of my mouth, before tasting Uncle N. Premium?
@@Shadow-7773 Lay off the anger and get honest with your personal issues, dude. I’m not the first who has loved this before knowing anything about this brand. Nancy P. Lol, people and their snowflake obsessions.
@@thorazine8402 lol what anger? I give my opinion. This stuff taste like gasoline. I would not ever pour this rot gut in my riding lawn mower. Wow! How can you love something you never tasted? Any how Bro' never forget the first rules of bourbon. Everyone's taste is different from one bourbon to another?
Sorry, but for the high price of Uncle Nearest, I think there are Whiskeys that are better with a lot less alcohol burn and harshness. Water helped, but not much.
Nearest Green was in his mid 30's when in 1856, he was more than twice the age of young Jack, who was orphaned and went to work on the farm where the two became friends. If you like JD you're going to like Uncle Nearest. Thank god Jack and Nathan weren't racist.
Lol... Man Nearest Greens family lived broke within a few hundred yards of the distillery... Most working for Jack Daniels if they were lucky.... meanwhile the Daniels rose to prominence..... So call it what you want..... It definitely wasn't the relationship these ppl making it out to be.
@@ZMonsta88 The Daniel's were already prominent and wealthy before Jack started (Jack Daniels). He used his inheritance to start it. I am glade that they met each other and became friends. Nearest Green was a master of making whiskey, Jack Daniels was an entrepreneur. If these two had never become friends we would not have these two great distillers today. Nathan Green never played the victim-card. You should embrace the story of Jack and Nathan it was born out of tragedy for both. Fawn Weaver is an entrepreneur also, who just happens to make very good whiskey. She has also become prominent and wealthy because of a man called Uncle Nearest. God Bless
Man I am exhausted after reading your watered down, over simplified, sterilized statements Proving that you don't understand what this "relationship" was. Proving that you don't understand how people are exploited "nicely" for decades and when there is (1) good story that can be extracted you erroneously imply that this was a wonderful opportunity and symbolic relationship for the Green family. Proving that you are unwilling to critically think about this real life situation and how long it actually took for Nathan Green to get any recognition. Yes the Jack Daniels family made amends starting in 2016. Claims that this happened because Jack Daniel was an entrepreneur, (and making the assumption that Green was just a friend) should have lead you to ask the question why wasn't Natan Green an entrepreneur. It begs the question if Green was so important why wasn't he taken on the entrepreneur journey? Why did the Nearest Green story have to be "Uncovered" I'll leave that there but I'm sure you will think of a reason why he wasn't! Like claiming That they both were born out of a tragedy and Green didn't play the victim card....REALLY. @@dannytimmons7801
Also, I think that the company is run by a woman. She did all of the research that you just summarized and gave it to Jack Daniels....it is another story of something being created by slaves and then never originally getting credit as such. I like that the story is out. I also would say I get a bite note but it is not an ethanol bite. I love this one. ALWAYS have a bottle in the house.
I personally enjoyed this. What I imagined JD being like pre 1955. Need a splash of water to open up. Good review and I enjoy and appreciate what you do. Cheers 🥃
I just tried this myself the other days and got to the same place as Rex. I added ice and determined that this was an add ice bourbon. It changed it quite a bit.
Does anyone else think that Daniel's overalls look kind of like one of those baby carriers where you strap the child to your chest? Whenever it cuts back to him, it's the first thing that pops into my brain.
Honestly, the release of The Walking Dead whiskey was several seasons behind the curve itself. By the time it came out, that show had already gone to hell and been abandoned by most viewers.
There are types of hipsters. Much like nerds and geeks are different. The different types of hipsters are also different. I think otaku is a better descriptor for hipsters. The apathy of appearance fits right in with a few types of hipster. They arn't all the ironic nihilists that listen to folk covers of jazz jams.
Hey friends, it seems that Uncle nearest is currently out where I'm from and on the website. Does anyone have any recommendations to some super similar to this brand at the 100 proof mark? This is my favorite whiskey and if someone can recommend something similar I would be extremelygrateful! :)
