BS. When the Israelis left gaza there were NO restrictions on gaza. They could have built it beautifully. Instead they chose hamas and shot missiles into israel.
I am not Palestinian. I am a descendant of American slaves. As an American citizen, who votes, I am appalled at our policy. Blinken has been to the region 9 times, and the results? 50,000 dead Palestinians (Yes, I am counting the ones buried under tons of American facilitated rubble), 40% of them children, 2/3 of them women and children, 2% of the population which is the equivalent of 7,000,000 Americans. (Update edit: as I am writing this now, America has helped Israel ethnically cleanse Gaza to the point where the population is now squeezed into 11% of the Gazan territory) Every time Blinken leaves Israel he leaves a monstrous nation worse in its blood lust then when he arrived. Having the parents of the hostage was a choice I wish they didn't make. It felt like being asked to care about 1,700 people over the 50,000 people killed in Gaza. Like, honestly, who made that call? Its the ONE issue that's splitting our party and they rubbed salt into it. It honestly ruined the rest of the night for me.
Not choosing a Palestinian American to speak showed how our congress including this Democratic Party is bought & beholden to AIPAC. Sad, missed an opportunity to show you actually cared about both sides and cared about the 1000s of political prisoners being held & horribly treated (tortured, sodomized, starved) without a trial for years. I agree. All the talk of neighborliness, freedom, joy was tainted for me the rest of the night. The parent's story was sad and worthy to be shared, but to not include the experience of loss that Palestinian Americans are experiencing felt like a slap in the face. Harris hasn't made a misstep for me up until now. It sent a confusing message.

I feel the DNC should have allowed the Palestinian American to speak just like they allowed the Israeli American family. It was a huge mistake by the DNC unfortunately but it is not too late...to rectify it! As a Christian I know that no child is more important than another, no voice is more important than another. All should be heard. Please VP Harris set this right.
It depends. The problem is that it is Live. Depending on the motive of the speaker in the moment ie. if they started protesting on stage or caused a big scene to where security could be called it is a massive risk. Not saying that would happen but it is understandable. They have stated multiple times over the DNC that they align with the opinions on the topic and that they are working on the ceasefire. I truly do get it but I can see their reasoning when the emotions on the topic are so high.

Respectfully, you missed the point. The Goldberg-Polins were pleading for peace and an end to the suffering of innocent Gazans, as much as they were pleading for the release of the hostages. They haven't let their pain stop them from empathizing with the agony Gaza is going through. If we saw more of that sentiment expressed by both sides of this conflict, we'd see peace and sovereignty for the Palestinians sooner.

I'm at a loss for words. This is INCREDIBLY disappointing. I wasn't going to vote for president this year when Biden was the nominee, but came around when Harris was nominated. I'm willing to give her a chance, but this situation puts all of those lofty speeches inside the Convention into perspective. The cynicism is starting to creep back in.

I have voted Democrat for the past 20 years. I'm done. Not voting again for either party until the platform changes to include a Palestinian state. I have become a single issue voter. I will not rubber stamp either of these parties again. A little better than the other side is no longer enough. Kamala is not enough. Democrat party platform is not enough anymore.
