If you want to save those poor fishies, you need to dig them out a wider pond to fall into. The body of water at the bottom of a waterfall is usually called a plunge pool; I'd say 5x5 should be big enough to catch them all and at least keep them from dying? Then you can bonemeal in some seagrass for them, and think about expanding and further beautifying their landing pool~😉🐠 And LOL, yeah; Creepers inside geodes seems the norm. They're like an evil Kinder Egg surprise~🤣

make a pond for the future tropical fish there once you've settled in. that way, I THINK, non hostile mob cap will be reached and there wont be any others dying

It was a fun exploration episode! The fish seem to be dying from fall damage, so if you build a little pool underneath, they'll fall in the water and be fine happy fish and a pretty pool feature. Probably make a broad kind kind of pool, at least 5x5 circle. You can just build a little one-block high wall for the pool and then fill it up. You'll need to bring at least 2 water buckets to make an infinite water source for filling it. It could be a nice little area. :) Maybe settle in the very lush area with aquifers and stuff? Since that's what you had in mind for what you wanted anyway. Might want a campsite and stable for Mr. Horse at ground level though. The horse won't be much help underground.

The fish death water fall in my own world was sooooo random and when I made it to the top of the water fall to stop it it wasn’t even connected to/coming from the ocean :’) it was just a random waterfall/source block in the cave that was spawning random fishies 💀💀

You could totally make a unique pond aquarium, but you might need a lot of sand for making glass. Or like a weird floating pond/fountain. But if you get axolotls and kinda get the lava in check. You can have a substantial feeding source for them

Oh! Another idea. Because i am rewatching. But making a dominant enchanted path to your dream base, and bone meal the bottom to moss out your favorite areas. I am just hyped to see when your ready to teriform the place.

Such a beautiful cave! Love near the geode so you can see it all the time and collect the shards for tinted glass.

You could make a fish tank, glass around the waterfall fill with water the fish will have a safe home, and the lava on the floor / walls could also put glass over to make it safe
