The son: displays clear signs of growing up in poverty/traumatized the mom: clearly the only thing to do is get rid of him, not getting a therapist
@jessicacarlisle9160
@jessicacarlisle9160 Год назад
That’s the first thing I thought of too. If he grew up in poverty, not knowing where his next meal is coming from and likely having been abused at some point, stealing food and money is him trying to feel stable. She doesn’t mention him having any other issues, like aggression. Just stealing food and money. Instead of getting him a therapist and showing him that he’s safe no matter what, and she’s there for him no matter what, she threw him away. And if it was so bad, her husband would have seen it. She waited until he was gone to do it because she knew her husband wouldn’t agree, although I’d love to know what story she planned to tell him when he got back from his trip and his son was missing. CPS isn’t going to give him his son back, at least not while he’s married to her and it’s possible they’ll remove their daughters since she’s shown when things get difficult, she gave away her kid.

Lady, there are these things called therapists. Some of them work with children. Some of them specifically adopted children with special needs. Your husband looks like he makes enough money that paying for that shouldn't be an issue. I'll agree it's scummy if you were expecting a baby and they send you an older kid, but this ain't how you deal with that. Anyone planning to adopt please remember: kids are not in the system willingly. They do not want you. They want their birth parents to love them and be able to take care of them. Don't be mad if even kids you raised from babies get a little mad at the world when they get old enough to understand they're only with you because the world isn't perfect.

You hit the nail on the head there. Not to mention how horrible living in foster or some kins of community center is. Kids can be in foster for ages, and sometimes even for life. If they're really lucky they'll get to live with the same person for life. But most likely they'll be thrown around from home to home. Developing a pocket full of issues as well. Not to mention that once children leave the care of their birth parents they are much more likely to be abused. Not to say birth parents don't abuse, or that adopted parents must abuse. But it is statistically more likely. People don't always think of humans as humans.

There was a similar episode on Law & Order: SVU before this that had Rosanna Arquette as the special guest star. She played a woman who partnered up with her husband by forging documents and having false identities so they could adopt these children that have been “returned” for the purpose of filming and selling CP (I don’t think I need to spell it out). The main child that the detectives were searching for had been given away by his adoptive mother secretly while the father was out of town on a business trip (he did that often) and the place she gave him to only required one parent’s signature I believe. The boy was from a different country and was “difficult” according to the mom and she initially blamed the father for always being gone. Thankfully they found the boy alive and they also found two other girls that were a little bit older. They also found a newborn baby that Rosanna’s character abducted. That newborn baby would eventually become Noah Benson. 🥺 So I really don’t understand how you would only need ONE of the adoptive parents to just give away or “return” the child that you promised to care for and love. *The title of the SVU episode is called, “Wednesday’s Child” for anyone curious!

It is sad how many kids get turned away during an adoption process because the adults cannot or do not think they can handle all of the trauma and psychological issues the kid has. What this woman did was wrong and how she handled it was unforgivable, but the dad should have listened to her more and found alternative ways to help the boy instead of expecting his wife to handle it all on her own. Especially if the boy was acting in a way that posed a danger to other kids in the home which is possible in some cases.

If you adopt, you should never “rehome” the child or children you adopted. It doesn’t matter if the orphanage lied to you. When you have a biological kid, you don’t know what kind of problems that child will have. It’s no different from adopted kids except you should expect the adopted child to have trauma. And you work through the trauma with the child. If you can’t help a child or children with trauma then don’t adopt.

If you adopt a dog that's been abused from a rescue kennel you sign on for its lifetime. The same goes for children but their lifeline is longer. If you can't promise to be with that child for life then buy yourself one of these life-like dolls. When you get bored with it then throw it away. It hasn't feelings and it is perfect for people with no conscience.

As someone who studies the development of children and have witnessed MANY foreign children who struggle in American homes due to trauma this is a very true reality. I’ve seen food aggression, stealing, hiding, running away, kicking, biting, attacking. And it’s all because of trauma they may not even know why they have it but it becomes wired in their brain from when they are infants. So if you plan to adopt/foster from countries that are known to be third world ie russia, India, Korea etc. you must realize your child will have PTSD and may not even remember why.

I fought for their needed care, pulled together a team of friends, relatives, hospitals, mental health care, officers, etc and raised them to adulthood. Body guards were required for me when they tried to kill me but they were like they were cause of extreme abuse in their past. They are now functioning adults and not in prison. They aren't currently speaking to me cause I am disabled and poor now but I feel it was all a success! I ended up raising them on my own though cause my husband walked away and washed his hands of them when it got tough. And that's putting it nicely.. I had to go to human services myself on him.
