This also explains why you touch the robot in such a delicate way… *SPOILER NCOMING* Your boss (Dmitry Sechenov) believes he was unable to save your wife’s consciousness despite his attempts, however this may not be entirely true. If we observe the robots ever so subtle human response to you touching her in that fleeting moment 3:25 hints at the fact your wife is still present deep within the robot.
It's likely that Sechenov knew that parts of her personality would still be salvageable, but he intentionally kept that information from P3 along with the Twins' identity. Seeing that the rings no longer had owners, he feared that P3 wouldn't cooperate if he were aware of his wife's passing, so it probably made the most sense to him to just wipe P3's memory, and keep his wife as his bodyguards while he found new hosts for the rings.

Yeah, here's my theory: I think the real essence of "katja" is actually within "Right". She has all the gadgets and the alpha key, and it's mainly Left who goes hands on with you while Right is always up in the air doing ranged attacks. So she starts calling you to set her free, and sais "meet me after" while you're fighting. she also sais she has been searching for you for so long and she could only reach you when in limbo. But now you're very nearby and that enables her to get through to you better. Yet she's still somehow blocked. And I think it's Left who is a control gate for her. When you kill Left, the fight is over, but Right's health isn't zero. I think Left keeps Right in check, and if that control is broken, she can be free and autonomous. That's what you achieve when you kill Left. (that's my theory at least). Then when charles puts you in limbo, Right can do what she wants. reaches for your hand. It's such a great setup for a sequel or a continuation of the story, where she will once again wake you up from limbo (like she has been doing all the time, and even prevented you from being put in limbo when you're in the archive), and when you play that ending, that we actually call "bad", she's actually free and show her loyalty to p3 and becomes a companion in some way, maybe in a sequel or DLC: you repair her, or one of the missions could be to transfer her essence to a new robotic body ? Who knows! But it all has to be in hiding, as Charles is still around. She's not part of the collective and now Left and Sechenov are gone, she doesn't have to obay anyone, so she can choose to help P3. I think that in many ways, all the experimentation with polymer and Katja created this larger than life character that wasn't intended, (a bit similar to Elizabeth in Bioshock). Charles sais how there's so much more about the polymerization sechenov was oblivious to. He also said at some point that he's aware that an inexplainable data stream is being received by P3's implant. In several logs, you read (and hear from dead people's imprints) how humans can be made immortal through polymerisation. And yes I think that the Katja bot (named Right) isn't merely a simulation of her skills and mannerisms... But she's actually in there in spirit, just like Charles is in your glove. But Katja is bound until you remove all the elements that bind her. And that's why I think this is actually the "good" ending in terms of potential to turn things around. It's going to be the P3+Katja=unstoppable force that wins from evil story.
there a line between transferring ones skill set and transferring ones mind. boss didn't turn the MCs wife into his robo waifu, just made one with her skills. At least that's how I see it.
More like bodyguards than romantic companions. Outside of Charles suggesting it, I couldn't find anything to suggest that Sechenov is being sexually active with the twins.

In fact, the lore hints that the bodyguards aren't likely used as sex toys (unlike the ballerina robots in the theatre that were connected into the Kollektive network), and there's a good reason why the two beta-connector rings weren't destroyed and why the major sees them in Limbo in the very final ending scene of the game.
@@flowname the beta connectors weren't destroyed because they're currently at the bottom of the Pacific, and because P3 didn't really know what they were. The alpha connector (I think) is destroyed in one of the endings (though I'm admittedly very uncertain as to what the Jelly Man actually destroyed at the end, but alpha connector is my best guess)
This game has so good lore, the fact that they made you fight with a part/version of your dead wife inside 2 robots. And then you realize you boss could be using them for dark things. The same boss that deleted your mind and used you to hide his real plans. And then the studio used them for advertising the game in the trailers and artworks. It's so cool they came out with that ideas
It is very clever. The lore even explains why your character is so quick to anger and seemingly stupid, in fact the first time he thinks for himself and makes his own decision you get the 'good' ending.

Well, I will try to present alternative point of view about Sechenov and ballerinas. My point of view: Sechenov is not robosexual. And here’s why. According to one of the messages in archive, Sechenov asked someone about to give him two ballerinas, without any specifics about how they should look like. And this two ballerinas are pretty different from those which we saw at theater. They more… well, sexy, with some features like different hair style and red star. I think that this design is just “creativity” of this guy who build them for “high-ranking person”. It’s not so uncommon thing. And we saw that all game Sechenov’s behave was like: “Science, science, science, humanity, perspectives, future”. He often seems to speak in slogans (this is especially noticeable in Russian voice acting). And he pretty sincere about his words. Like science and future is what he cares about in first place. I think that this kind of person is pretty indifferent about sex or romantic relationship. And, I think, that he don’t really know how to behave with human beings, because he did so many mistakes with Zacharov and Nechaev’s couple. He did what he thought will be good for them. Even if it’s wrong in other’s point of view. He just, quote: “didn’t know what to do”. In this situation it’s the same. He wanted to save somehow Ekaterina but chose not so good way to do that. He put her into ballerinas-bodyguards because she was ballerina and agent herself. And I don’t think that he was really into this ballerinas, and he thought that their looks is not so appropriate, because for him it was indifferent. He achieved his goal, Ekaterina will continue to live somehow. And that’s all. If we speak why Zacharov or Nechaev called Sechenov “robosexual”, well… Zacharov all game said bad things about Sechenov and many of them was lies to turn Sergey against his boss. Sergey’s conclusion was pretty understandable too, because he make his conclusion according of info from Zacharov and what he saw in theater without context. Still, even if Sechenov is not really robosexual, put Nechaev’s wife into this bodies… It’s pretty dark🥲 (Sorry for mistakes in text).

Sechenov could also consider to unite the twins into a single stable entity in the future, and possibly make Nechaev more stable as a result of it too. Mind you, the game began with the assignment to "significantly upgrade" the glove, so Sechenov might also contemplated the idea of balancing the power between Chariton on the one hand and Nechaev and his wife on the other, with a help of rings. Alternatively, the two rings would help him to keep the couple close to him as an ideology-commited family. Kind of a beginning of a dynasty. There's also a good reason why the major sees the rings in Limbo in the very final ending scene of the game.
@@flowname I also heard theory about that this two rings Sechenov made for Nechaev and his wife, because thay are looks like wedding rings and have phrase on them: "My love is always with you" (in Russian).
Here's the thing tho', if you DO look at all PEAR terminals in the game, you'll also discover the theater ballerinas "modifications" were made without Sechenov's aproval, and when he discovered about it, he made it a big social experiment to see if there could be a deep moral degradation even in the perfect utopia the soviet union had become. Sechenov was AGAINST the ballerinas being used as sex workers, that would explain why he specifically asks for prototypes, he wanted models not "tampered" with. Another detail is, to be honest, the game gives SOO MANY mixed messages about the fate of Katya, we know that she came back in coma together with Sergey, meaning she didn't imediatly die in the event, which is weird because Sechenov says her brain was found IN TWO PIECES, then he says the process to try and restore her was "too complicated" and the video backs up the idea that she died, I mean, Sechenov does says he tries "bringing her back to life", which pretty much says she did die, and he tried doing some frankstein shit, then Chariton also says she is dead and only her skills were used on the twins, but here's the funny thing, during the battle, Chariton says "Your wife is dead, Sechenov took her from you", in the middle of a battle, it makes sense he'd try to rile Sergey up, but that IS STRAIGHT UP A LIE, Sechenov trying bringing her back and failed, for all intents and purposes, however, her death is not to blame on Sechenov, only what he tried after, that makes me just SOO sus about how ADAMANT Chariton is on Katya being dead, that gets furthered when we know the "Teardrop" thingy in Limbo seems to be a representation of Katya, it'd be all fine and dandy if the the thing was just part of the hallucination, but not only the thing consistently acts as an agent agains't limbo, telling Sergey to wake up, he himself attributes it to the reason he can "resist" limbo while in the academy of consequences, furthed even, some corpses as well as Chariton later, mention some sort of "external signal" being broadcasted to Sergey's implant, meaning something other than Chariton has access to P-3's head, and while fighting The Twins, we get the same "Teardrop" voice, this time implying itself to be his wife's Voice, saying exactly that, that she has been trying to reach him, which, you know, MAKES NO FUCKING SENSE IF SHE'S DEAD, also makes no fucking sense it being an illusion induced by Chariton when Teardrop always tries to wake Sergey, and it also couldn't be Sechenov cause if he wants P-3 to forget his old life, also the opposite of Teardrop's messages. This is all to say, I really wonder if some things got lost in translation, some stuff just feels like doesn't add up and that bothers me when it feels like this "Soo close but soo far away" situation.
So Sechanov made his wife, a woman well known to be a highly skilled dance battler, into a more deadly double body robotic combat waifu through mind transfer? Dark.....yet hot if you ask me.
This is *not* why the twins are disconnected. There are MAJOR game spoilers in this comment that I'm about to reveal, so please don't read this if you plan on playing the game: . . . . . . The twins are disconnected from the neural network so that they can't be controlled when Kollective 2.0 is released. Kollective 2.0 is advertised as a process where all robots will be able to be controlled by human thoughts. The Twins are disconnected from this so that nobody will be able to control the twins. I couldn't find any reference whatsoever during my gameplay that would suggest Sechenov is doing anything sexual with the twins. "Left" and "Right", as the twins are named, are called so because the left and right sides of the wife's brain were placed in the twins, and it's likely that Sechenov did this so that he would have bodyguards, knowing that P3 would eventually come for him.
First part makes sense regarding the neuro network, but does not exsplain the full wipe. It's strongly hinted at in the dialog that he's a robosexual, but we have no proof. He could have used any other robot for a bodyguard instead though

P3 and his wife were both Argentum agents, who fought in the war. Following the war, a terrorist incident seriously injured P3 and killed his wife. Sechenov saved what he could of the wife, but split the right and left sides of her brain, and put them in the Twins.
The whole idea of the chamber of secrets is my favorite in all of the Harry Potter world. Always been my favorite movie / book too since it’s the most mysterious of the entire collection

All I know is when/if I play this game, I'm going to need native language voice overs and English subs. I'm all about immersion with titles like these. If a game is taking place in Russia, then they'd better be speaking Russian. Ghost of Tsushima, they're set to Japanese with English subs.
