I've watched a lot of reviews on the new Milwaukee pass through ratchet. There seems to be a lot of negativity out there. You covered all the positive points that I thought about. This is a great option for a new technician just getting into the field. You can still use this ratchet as a conventional ratchet with the anvils as it covers both 1/4 and 3/8. No need to buy two ratchets. You get the benefit of a nano socket for tight places. What is not to like?
I never thought of it like that considering I have both the standard extended reach and regular version 3/8 along with the both short 3/8, 1/4 high speed, also have recently the new extended high speed 3/8 (I have all of the lines guns and impacts, 35+ tools) but since I probably don’t need it just to justify to my wife I want it. We’ll see cuz it’s interesting looking.
They also sell a 1/2 anvil separately, theoretically you could use this as a passthrough, 1/4 anvil, 3/8 anvil, 1/2 anvil and hex. If you don’t want multiple ratchets then 300 buck for tool only is a really good deal for the bare tool
They literally took the failed pass through hardline ratchet design, married it to Makita's design of multiple anvils. And made one of the most innovative tools of the year. And on extensions. The craftsman pass thru set (i own) has extensions. It is a matter of time before milwaukee makes extensions. And the extension is pass thru as well. Great video, glad youre healed up and back on Mark!!
The nice part is that you really don't need a pass through extension. Once you need an extension, you no longer need it to be a pass through. I am sure it could help, but it is nice knowing you don't have to buy more extensions. Thanks for watching and giving feedback on the extension.
All good points Mark especially for a guy wanting a long neck ratchet this is a great option. I personally never had a situation where I thought WOW a pass through would come in handy tho. But you brought up all good points for sure good video 👍👍👍
There was only a hand full of time I could have used a pass-through ratchet when I was turning wrenches. It's a nice to have tool but not necessary. Thanks for watching..
5 months later and this ratchet seems to be sold out everywhere. I am looking to purchase an electric ratchet and I already have the 12v batteries from milwaukee so I would buy one when they become available.
Hey Mark! I have been watching multiple videos on this setup from milwaukee and trying to decide if it was for me or not. You made a bunch of very valid points that no one else is making. I will be picking one of these up based upon your review of this tool. THIS is what having and experienced and knowledgeable tool distributor is all about, knowing the ins and out of the product they are selling. As ive said before, you were the first tool truck i had ever experienced and you set the bar high. Thank you for this info!
Hey Mark! I am in the HVAC field and this will work perfect for me already pre-ordered it for my work plus use it at home for working on my own vehicles
I have the 1/4" 3/8" and 1/2" extended ratchet in my mechanic toolbox, I'm buying this one for my electrical toolbox IF the 9/16 socket is a pass thru socket. I install a lot of heaters on 3/8" rod and this would save me a lot of twisting
@@midatlantictools oh I'm sure it will, right now I mount the heaters off the top of a scoffed and use a car jack to pump them up next to the roof but I still have to run 4 nuts up 10" of threaded rod.
I understand what your saying about having the adapters, but are they solid non-pass through? You can only use the sockets with the ratchet, but you can use the ratchet with the adapters on regular sockets? The adapters installed in the tool, make it the same width as the regular ratchet, right? It will cost $299 or $500 with the sockets?
Yes solid just like any ratchet head so you can use all your sockets you already own. As for price I don't have it nail down but you do get sockets with tool.
I think for a guy like my self where i am a back yard mechanic rebuilding my own truck this thing would be fantastic. And thats why i cant wait to get one for my tool box
It's a very individual thing. Many tool items out there I would never use or buy but someone out there needs it. I'm waiting for this tool to be released in my part of the world. I see myself using this thing regularly and looking forward to add this thing to my arsenal.
Well said! I think some of these RU-vidrs think they know everything and know what everyone’s needs are. There’s one in-particular who’s quite “hefty” if you catch my drift. I get a kick out of these guys that talk about their tools they are probably given in most cases yet cannot demonstrate.
I got one on release day. Loved it !! But unfortunately it lost most of its power and just buzzes and doesn't move on any bolts that have any resistance. My 1/4 high speed extended ratchet has more power right now lol. But ill warrenty it
Does anybody know the measurement of the insider sockets that goes into the ratchet head? From the looks of it it looks to be 17 mm but I’m doing some research and would like to know exactly what it is.
you get 1/4, 3/8, in stubby and deep socket form, and reversible powered box wrench in one tool? Hope it works w/other 19mm pass thru sockets so I can use pass thru extensions.
Makita has had the ratchet with the 2 adapters for a while now? I don't have an extended reach one yet, just the 3/8" high speed, but might get that, since it will be like getting 3 ratchets in one, like you said? Thanks for explaining it better?
Yes, I think Makita does. Funny thing is I sold one (Only sell Makita if a customer wants it - not in stock) If you need an extended reach is something you need this could be a great ratchet for you. Thanks for watching..
Is interesting though, I'm not a car mechanic but for my trade i'm more interested in the interchangable anvils. I was looking at the high speed 1/4 and 3/8 and not entirely sure which to get but this would certainly sort that problem out. I hope they bring out the insider in the slightly shorter orientation as i don't need an extended reach...
i am glad you mentioned all that cuz people just lazy, this tool is extremely helpful for tight space where you need to get a socket in, this is why i have an old set of Craftsman shallow socket set come in when i need behind brake caliper bolts
Short answer: If you're looking for balanced versatility and adaptability, get this tool. If you just want pure power in tight spaces, get the tools designed specifically for that. Dont sleep on the drill-bit adapter for the insider!
I feel like the kit's a pretty good value for what's included and that adaptability. I don't need it right now. I'll strongly consider it if I need an extended reach powered ratchet, in part because that flexibility is very interesting. I've wanted to convert my brushed 3/8" ratchet to a 1/4" anvil. I use an adapter but I don't like it.
I wanted the new pass through ratchet but it was over double the price as the standard 3/8 drive long reach ratchet that has just about the same amount of torque, plus the head looks more durable on the older one
All good points. As for price, you are getting two ratchets with the changeable head. As for the head being stronger on the long neck, only time will tell.
GUYS Don't Buy That Insider Ratchet Is Totally A Rip Off Is Trash Yes BASURA Craftsman Had It Before N It Fail So Bad That They Have To Recall Matco Had It Before N No One Buy It Dont Spent Your Money In That Trash Tool Ooh Not Mention They Make U Buy Their Own Sockets Otheir Wise U Can't Used The Tool What A Rip Off 🤑🤑🤑🤑🤑
The pooppoos lack attention to detail because all the negatives are false. I've been wanting an m12 ratchet since I learned they exist. This will be MY gateway drug to m12 automotive(currently only construction).
Yes, there are some that just didn't like Milwaukee and other tool manufacturers, so it's automatically a bad tool. Only time will tell if it is. So far, I have had good luck with all their tools.
Great video mark!! And u were correct on the livestream the other night, it also comes with a bit adapter....i will definitely be grabbing 1...💯🧰🛠🪛🔧🗜🇺🇸
