The UN CRPD is a human rights treaty for persons with disabilities. This binding United Nations document was signed and ratified by all the EU Member States and the EU itself.
The UN CRPD has changed the way we understand disability, including psychosocial disability. This important change is referred to as a “paradigm shift” - a transition from a biomedical model to a psychosocial model of disability.
This short animated video explains the UN CRPD from the psychosocial disability perspective. What does this change in models of disability mean in practice? And how can people with psychosocial disabilities enjoy their human rights and freedoms in practice?

How it is hard to act in France in perspective to change social représentations about persons catogorized ofdisability, specially in the so-called Mental Health. The uncrpd model is not introduced in society and in its media and institutions. The human sciences like psychology, sociology and the rest are unable to change their paradigm, infected by bio-medical réductionism. The uncrpd model opens up broad perspectives for the transformation of these representations. Thank you for this Didactic Approach .

Psychosocial model is really confusing. There are social model and human rights model, legitimized by the UN CRPD. Once you get terms added to it, professionals start speaking about biopsychosocial model of disability, which is totally a mess, especially if it aims at substitution of human rights model. Human rights model is the umbrella, and it is perfectly capable of combining psychological, biological, and social factors, but putting the person's choice above all that.

Get off medication is not something to recommend

I didn't feel anyone recommended going off medication. I noted that getting off of a med was something Amy identified as a health goal. it seemed to me as if Amy was supports to first focus to identify factors in her life .. some factors are helpful and some may feel like a problem, a trigger or a stress... then she had help to form a plan, with goals. Goals can be adjusted along the way. Changed or broken down in more steps and details :)

They didn't recommend them getting off medication. They gave examples of different possible scenarios. It depends on the individual and their specific circumstances.
