This "Under the Helmet" series is amazing. The story-telling, the camerawork, the character arcs we get to watch as fans... God we're spoiled. Thank you, Lions Media Team! Rooting for you, Barnes! #OnePride
More people need to come back to this video after yesterday's win against the Buccaneers. This man needs more recognition. Nothing but accolades and respect for you, Derrick Barnes.
I remember going to one of his games, drove all the way from Chicago to see him play he had to be no more than 10yrs old, after he dominated the game, we had him on video, I asked him what do you want to do when you grow up, his reply," I WANT TO GO TO THE NFL!!!" he worked his but off, i was in tears when the steelers played him, but DETROIT saw what they MISSED out on, THANK YOU DETROIT FOR FULFILLING A LIFE'S DREAM OF HARD WORK AND DEDICATION AND DETERMINATION, WE WILL FOREVER BE GRATEFUL, HATS OFF LIL D LOVE YOU FAMILY
This is absolutely awesome my dude. Such an inspiration to so many out there struggling to understand the tests the Lord puts in our paths. I am a lifelong Lions fan and I can tell you that we all saw a switch flip in that Green Bay game this season. It's a beautiful thing to witness when you can almost pin point the moment the game slowed down for a young up and coming force in this league.
There are a lot of guys on this Lions team that are impressive both on and off the field. I'm proud to be a fan of their team. Inspirational story/life Mr. Barnes.
I remember watching when Whitworth was named NFL's Walter Payton Man of the Year award and telling that story when he met Derrick Barnes on the football field. I couldn't imagine the emotions both players must've felt ......makes it all worth it.
Thanks so much to the Detroit Lions for letting my son be apart of this video. He played as (Derrick Barnes younger brother) this was so great! His name is TaeShaun and he hopes to play 🏈 for Clemson one day 🤞🏽
As a Lifelong Detroit Lions fan and a past coach for Upward basketball, all I can say is, I am really proud of you Derrick. Please keep up the great work.
Thanks for sharing your life, Derrick. Shows class. Now I know you better. Definitely, one of my favorite Detroit Lions' players. God bless this good lions team, and the culture!
love this core of players that the front office is building. not only are they tremendous athletes, they are exceptional young men. makes the team easy to root for. go lions!
This story is realy, realy, heartwarming. But: Pops Barnes: look at the amount of medicine on that small cupboard. Then how malnourished he looks. That, realy, hit me hard. I hope he's doing fine for a long time coming.
To the Lions organization. Thank you for your investment and allowing things like this to be done. This is a great way to build and reestablish relations with fans. To get us invested into our team.
