oh, that's sad. I just heard about the voice actor, but I know the movie for years. Not a big fan of the movie itself, but I just love this song: Real caribbean song with real caribbean accent. Quite amazing.
Can we all appreciate how well written and performed some of the old disney songs are?? This one in particular is so good. I mean it won an Oscar and a well deserved one
Totally agree - beautifully written, arranged and performed. The steel band foundation is superb and the song builds and builds to a glorious ending. This is achieved with a few simple chord progressions and key change. One of my all time favourite songs!!!
Rest in Peace Samuel E Wright, and Sebastian. Samuel E Wright died of Prostate cancer My guess is Sebastian ironically ended up in a seafood restaurant. (where Ariel worked at)
Unda da sea Unda da sea To see the titanic Oh such a panic Come there with me Up on shore you make money I'll take you down there give it to me Sucked out a tube No time to lose Unda da sea 🎶
Once more for the people in the back: Unda da sea Unda da sea Rich men were gloating Now they are floating Oh the i-rony They wanted to view a mass grave In a sub build by Uncle Dave Oh what a hobby They won't find your body Unda the sea 🎶 Thank you and good night los Angeles!! 👏 👏
If you're like me, you came here after the death of Samuel E. Wright, the voice of Sebastian. R.I.P. Samuel E. Wright (November 20, 1946 - May 24, 2021). He will truly be missed.
As a youngster I legit used to want to live in the ocean because of this song. I thought I was missing out on some incredible shit. Samuel Wright along with Alan Menken created that and I’m eternally grateful. RIP Samuel E. Wright.
Goodbye, Samuel E. Wright. Thank you for helping show us how musical things can be under the sea. Your song will always be my favorite in "The Little Mermaid".
I never thought I can tear up from singing a happy song like this but I'm tearing up. R.I.P Samuel E. Wright, no one can ever replace your role as Sebastian.
'Under the sea' *Quarantine edition* They say that the grass is greener In somebody else's yard. We're forced to stay at home now But spring makes that kinda hard. Watching the world around you Bloom behind window panes Is messing with my composure I think I'm turning insane. In quarantine In quarantine How is it better Where covid can't getcha In quarantine? The medical scene they work all day Earning a mediocre pay While we're relaxing Our patience is taxing In quarantine. Some people feel all alone now That distancing is a must Only those in your households Are ones you can legally touch No more spontaneous take-outs Don't mention partying If you attempt to break the rules then Prepare for severe fining! In quarantine In quarantine The world is on lockdown People are stressed about Covid-19 Some folks are forced to work from home Students exams are now postponed Children are home now Because of corona In quarantine It's quarantine Extroverts die here Introverts thrive here Stereotypically👀 Corona causes thousands of deaths Our mental health is now a mess This year is cancelled Because we can't handle 2020 (Sorry, it was 1am and I was bored. I'll just... I'll show myself out). Update: Thank you everyone for your kind comments! Sorry I can't respond to all of them, the comment section would look wayy too long otherwise 😅😂😂 I hope everyone is well and safe.💖
@@jimsarver747 haha I think someone's beaten me to it with their own audio and everything😭. The lyrics are *much better* tho. Thx for the advice tho💖💖👌😊
Wanda Maximoff Because your brain connected this song with a happy memory and every time you hear it and become happy it makes that connection even stronger. Therefore it makes you happy. Sorry I’m learning about the brain in one of my classes.
*"The seaweed is always greener... You dream about going up there..."* Yes we all dream of that for you, Sebastian. Now go up there, there's a greener paradise waiting ahead for you.❤ RIP, our Legend.😢
The rap at the end tho! "Each little snail here know how to wail here, that's why it's hotter under the water, ya we in luck here under the muck here under the sea!" STRAIGHT BARS MY G
I feel like the song has a deeper message and it is really about how much better it is to be single and enjoy life (under the sea as a fish and off the hook) The crab sang it to Ariel when she wanted to sacrifice everything in her life for love.
This will always be my most favourite Disney song. Almost always brings a tear to my eye every time i hear it cuz It makes me miss childhood so damn bad.
When I listen to this now that Samuel E. Wright passed I feel like some part of my childhood died. Thank you Samuel for giving us many happy memories. Fly high 🕊️
