@@snikkerr1949 the shorter hair is much more hipster. Intp's usually have a look somewhere between nerd and homeless and hipster is right in the middle if you think about it lol
@Q My memory of growing up watching Russell Brand movies, or Richard Ayoade's shows knows that Russell has long wavy/curly hair with no facial hair, and Richard has a nice curly fro with minimal facial hair. Now Russell has ponytailed his aging hair, with a Karl Marx beard, and Richard is going for the 'dad trying to look young look' with his now close-to-nothing fro, and no facial hair. Also, it's weird seeing Richard not wear a suit.
As an American, I feel greatly deprived of Ayoade's presence. He's everywhere on British tele, but I have to dig into RU-vid to find him. More Ayoade please!
Astounded by Richard's modesty - I provided a tiny bit of hospitality for him at an old job, and he was the only client in my time there to gather the dishes for me when I came to collect them (despite being probably the most well known). Very softly spoken and kind!
This is how conversations go when people listen to each other. Genuinely interested in what each other has to contribute. How lovely. And so nice to not be hurried.
RB doesn't seem interested in any of it. No interviewer in the world peppers a more convoluted response than Russell Brand. He isn't adding anything with his conversational adjectives. His responses are a deflection or colorful displays of vocabulary. Even if his conversations were geared towards a philosophical type, they would still be fatigued with his arm waving and empty rambling.
i dont know. I find his manner of speaking and behaving, well kinda weird. Either its cause hes super nice and im not used to that, or he has a bunch of bodies hidden under the floorboards
Richard Ayoade should have a podcast where talks about cinema and his favourite films. It would be delightful to learn about what movies have inspired him.
Well lucky enough he has sort of. If you search Richard Ayoade Criterion on RU-vid, he has done a very short video on his favourite films. Hope that helps.
@@PaddyLeggBass His level being presenting the most popular cooking show on the planet, and being a regular on the most popular UK panel shows constantly? You're entitled to your opinion, but please know what you're on about before spouting it.
i fucking love richard purely because he’s smart af doesn’t care for how u roast him cause he will drag ur whole family through a grave of words and leave u to cry with no remorse. and amazing human being.
I couldn’t agree more! There are so many times in this where another interviewer would have interrupted Richard and lost some vital parts of this conversation
He's also slightly disarmed in this interview, he always surprised me by his eloquence and grasp of vernacular given his upbringing. But in the presence of Ayoade it's a different league of wit. Not that he doesn't keep up, it's a great meeting of minds
@Q Money has nothing to do with the amount of listening someone will do. If you really want to connect the two, I would actually say that more money will mean a poorer listener, because there is a sense of entitlement that is brought to light for many people who are rich, and many of them have poorer empathy.
It's so refreshing seeing Richard as he is and not a caricature of his own personality. Got to hand it to Brand for making all celebrities feel comfortable.
I must put that that on the list of things to do after self isolation. Ah, I forgot, I normally self isolate anyway, so it could take some time ( please think of suitable emoji here).
Two brilliant men who make being socially weird seem cool. Good on them for being true to themselves and not what society's social norms want them to be.
I adore Richard. He always makes me want more of him. He, as himself, is one of my favorite British people. I would love to just have a conversation with him.
Richard's voice is so soothing and velvety. Such intelligence and humility. You are a truly great entertainer, both in mirth and provocation of thought. I think that Russell is an excellent role model for anyone who is struggling, or have ever struggled, with mental health issues or substance abuse. I'm loving the look of guru. Especially the magnificent and majestic beard. A beautiful person, inside and out. I would love to see a session with Rose McGowan. I think that the combination of her intellect and spiritual beliefs, would compliment Russell perfectly.
Honestly I feel it's a bit annoying because when he is on shows a lot of times he also is playing that type. He's genuinely interesting when he's himself like this.
Interesting, as an American that came off quite evidently to me. The travel man character reminds me a lot from the character he plays in the American movie, The Watch. It's normally more difficult for me to interpret English people so I'm surprised by this.
I find so much satisfaction in listening to this conversation between intellectual, deep philosophical thinkers who are also very comedically gifted. It is so rich and interesting. I feel like my mind and soul are both being fed. There’s so much to love about this video and these two men in particular.
Couldn't agree more. This has taught me something new about the art we actually view as great and why it is we are able to connect with things that are not essentially great.
Beautifully put. And an exquisite combination, both the intellectual deep philosophical thinking and humour, and of course these two equally exquisite chaps. Love them.
@Zend Avesta What makes you think circumcision is mutilation? Far from it... either way is fine but mutilated? Not a descriptor a normal person would use.
Richard has the deepest, sexiest voice I can think of. And I thought this would be Russell Brand monopolizing the interview, but I was wrong. He's a generous listener.
I'd say they didn't spar, they seemed very chilled out, open and authentic, a state of wanting to learn from each other. Maybe, and absolutely no bad intention, maybe you're projecting or in a more defensive state?
What a lovely heart-warming faith restoring conversation. This is the most relaxed I've ever seen Richard on screen and confirms many things I suspected about his approach and reasoning about what he does. Thank you Russell!
Richard is brilliant, I love watching him, listening to him, those flashing eyes, beautiful smile, yes he can be quite cutting, esp in Travel Man (no more however😞), Travel Man just won't be the same without him. I only watched the show because Richard was the host. Best of luck for 2020 Richard.
My opinion on Russell has quite changed a lot now, because of this and how Richard is with him. The kindness and honesty between the two is pure stuff. And so down to earth compared to ten years ago. There has been, so much that they have both been through. Which has brought them both more gravity in what they are now. And more grounded to the world they live in. And understanding.
The best Richard Ayoade interview humanity will ever experience. Unless there is one broadcasted at suitably destructive volumes from the Mothership moments before the inevitable planetary annihilation that his report has generated.
Yea or target last month I put all the pegs in backwards building a shelf my boyfriend never got mad just made me some dowels to replace what I broke.. love him to death
Ivori Luczak sounds like a keeper! 😀 One of my ex’s was in IT & my rabbit chomped through all of the plug leads to all of his electrical equipment! I was really worried he’d be really angry, but he just said “he’s a rabbit, he didn’t know what he was doing. It’s fine, I’ll just get some more.” He was a keeper 😊
@@StaceyBing I know, lol, I was just making a light, little jab at the contradiction of your ex as having been a keeper. I mean, he's certainly not been kept, after all, lol. I love your Ikea comment, so true 😀
Richard you've entertained me for most of my life from the Boosh to your other comedies and travels. You talk yourself down so much but you are a hero to me.
@richard ayoade often when I am relaxing at home you're one of the folks I love to watch. I'm smart and awkward. You're my kind of people. I hope your humility is for real or I'll feel ripped off. I love making people laugh. Real life is serious enough
Darkplace was brilliant, it's how I discovered Richard. Growing up in Australia, watching Days of our lives and the Young and the restless after school, waiting for the cartoons to start. Hit the spot, magically.
Richard has the endearing quality of being himself and still a character appealing to many. Comedians who endure have built their own shtick but one’s that build a falseness around it don’t endure. Richard firstly appealed to me as Moss, he was actually directed to be himself as a character. That is actually a very respectable and maybe vulnerable quality. Bucket list for me is to meet Richard and thank him for being him
Richard's comments about the nature of certain films and how they present a "have your cake and eat it too" message reminds me of La La Land. I didn't love the film, but I did like the ending where Gosling and Stone actually do end up having to sacrifice their relationship for them both to reach their true potential. It felt much more grounded and real despite the fantastical elements.
i completely LOVE how Richar describes the movie VIEW FROM THE TOP. He is so eloquent at eviscerating with class. " she is spirited, she doesn't alter her demeanour greatly, who knows what the decisions were, she is known for her aspirational pep, she is good at being surly, she is unwilling to be PRESENT" hahahha aka she is a ditzy blonde. Such class and trope! To be insulted by Richard should be a life goal!
His idea of the kind of awkward beauty of the human cycle of "huge effort/ aspiration - > failure" is what I have found to be the content of my paintings. At least, it was when I was painting. I haven't been. But, Richard, thank you for re- inspiring me to find meaning/ creativity in the absurdity. I found that, e.g., two slats of a fence that were farther apart than all the rest, serves as a metaphor for that idea of finding the beauty in the failure. Or maybe the beauty is in that perseverance to try again to progress, after failure.
Richard you are amazing. I always feel instant calm and listen when you speak as I know you are always funny and your observational comedy is always spot-on and to the point that always rocks my world!
When Richard is talking about people reaching for something and missing, I immediately started thinking of "Dolemite Is My Name" and Rudy Ray Moore's failing upwards through persistence.
Richard played a character in the movie The Watch named Jamarcus and I received a puppy that had similar hair named Timmy so I added Jamarcus! I think Richard is so entertaining!!💃💃😍
What I find interesting is that Richard and Russell are clearly intelligent. What I notice from Richard, is that his intelligence is clear from the topics and opinions he talks about, rather than Russell who I consider intelligence because of the words Russell chooses. Sometimes Russell's words actually cloud his point for me. I wonder how my opinion of Russell would change if he used more words and less floaty* nouns, if you know what I mean? *and yes, it's all relative, who am I to decide what words are appropriate. For example, Russell would use the word "mediocrity" and Richard would say "surrounding my average people".
They're just different people coming from different places. I for one love following along with Russell's train of thought and the way he is able to express it. He is a great active listener and shows with the way he is able to summarize a preceding long winded point quite eloquently, it's rare to hear these days and makes for a great interviewer.
Genius is instinctive, insightful and natural. Everything else is people reaching to try and demonstrate their 'greatness,' but actually illustrating their limitation. The danger is the bombasts who drown out the greatness with their forced bravado seem to rise to the top and then perpetuate a stranglehold of what is perceived as great. How many careers have been ruined by egotists and others forced to slave for wealthy cretins holding the industry at ransom. What's not being said is it boils down to money and influence and some are very good at cultivating that at the expense of more interesting ideas, in the same way the political parties attempt to drown out other more nuanced ideas and present simplistic ones instead.
As an American, Richard's style is exceedingly English to me in a way that's brilliantly funny and very entertaining. I know that he must know how talented he is, yet he seems afraid to let himself admit it for fear of coming across as pompous, which makes him all the more endearing. I don't know if he's really as modest as he puts forward but he's definitely underrated and yet highly talented.
THE INTRO IS EXCELLENT . AND ALEGORY TO THOSE PEOPLE THAT LIVE IN A BUBLE MADE OF BELIEVES TO PROTECT THEMSELFS FROM REALITY. THZ BZST WAY TO FEEL GOOD IS TRY TO CHANGE SOCIATY. FOR EXAMPLE OPEN A RESTAURANT COOPERATIVE WHERE ALL WORKERS GAIN THE SAME WORKING 16 HOURS PER WEEK MAX. THAT WAY YOU DESTROY CAPITALISME FROM INSIDE. AND A BIG PARTY ONCE A WEEK. YOU CAN ALSO USE THAT PLACE TO GIVE CHANCE TO MANY PEOPLE THAT WANTS TO HAVE A VENUE FOR THEIR ACTIVITYS . ARTS OF ANY KIND OR TEACHING ANYTHING . STUDENTS FROM UNIVERSITY THAT COULD HAVE A PLACE TO TEACH ANYTHING THEY WANT . CONNECT PEOPLE IN THE LOCAL AREA.
I truly believe Mr Ayoade would enjoy my company at a dinner party. The combination of my comprehensive education and aspersions of intellect I'm sure would endear me to him. I often use words like effluent when I mean affluent but have finally reached an age where it's not going to hold me back.
Most people who are good at diy, tend to be, people who can’t afford to pay someone to do it, that’s been me all my life, and now I’m physically struggling to do some stuff, I have to pay people to do it, ok it’s a financial burden, but it’s so nice in oh so many ways.
I saw someone who looked like him last week in NYC, and ALMOST went to say hi, then felt if it WASN'T him, that'd be bad. But I think Richard is friggin hilarious! IT crowd is a favorite of mine.
