It’s pretty cool to see just how many tracks can go into something that sounds so simple. Definitely something to keep in mind for when making my own stuff.
Those vocal harmonies in the middle section sound like something ripped straight out of Brian Wilson's work. And Brian Wilson is a literal fucking genius in music.
He skips over the "warning signs" vocals buried very deep into the mix on the verses. I was hoping he'd finally explain what that was all about. Oh well.
Damn I wish he did this for the whole of Underclass.. :( I love the album, I doubt they'd ever do an Underclass 15 year tour like they did for DTLI but... FUCK I would love that! The album is my favourite.
I love it. It´s just Deryck sitting, talking, breathing amd giving us the closer look to the song... BUT IT´S THE BEST VIDEO I´VE SEEN IN A LONG TIME :) :D
Wow. I finally understand why recording an entire album might take so long. You record every single one of those individual little things, and their might be more than on take. Then multiply that by 10-15 songs... I suddenly have a new respect for musicians, and this album, which I ironically just purchased yesterday.
The vocals in Deryck's favourite part of the song are actually insanely well crafted. They sound so damn pleasing to the ear and honestly sound on par with harmonies Brian Wilson made for some of the best work in The Beach Boys discography. Seriously, the first thing I thought of when the vocals kicked in was "holy fuck Brian Wilson would fucking LOVE this!" which is a huge compliment. Brian is not perfect, but his work on "Good Vibrations" and the "Pet Sounds" album can't be fucked with. That song and that album are both his masterpieces without question.
It's awesome reading these comments and seeing people's appreciation for the amount of parts Deryck tracked and crafted for this song. This is why i love recording. There's nothing else i enjoy doing more.
So much put into one song. One extremely great and beautiful song. Wish more modern musicians/bands would look at this. Not the same talent. God this is gold!!
I really love seeing these vids that break down the tracks. I love Sum 41 (still one of my fav live bamds) and had no idea how much was going on in these records!!
I loved this video and I feel like I'm re discovering Walking Disaster ! It's just great to know what really happened to create it, please make more videos like that it's super interesting
Remember the hate on this album. But it became my one of faves pop punk albums. Pure pop punk after Chuck in 2007, the time of dance emo pop rock bands, was like a fresh air
Its will be very cool if you or other artists share multiple types of his songs. I mean an audio with out guitars or bass or drumps to play in too them at the same time they are palying
I find it interesting how at 0:55 to 1:50 and 2:20 he shows all the parts that make up that beginning, which surprisingly is quite a bit and then I really like how Deryck shows how it all comes together at 1:55.
Woah, this is really cool and so interesting!!! Walking Disaster is one of the first songs that made me fall in love with your music. Please make more of these kind of videos.
