They added blue lights to their marked vehicles and all they have to do is pay a small fine for breaking that law. So while it is illegal, the department and officer can choose to just continue paying the fine for breaking said law.

@14 3F correct. 99% of responding vehicles I've seen across the whole NYC do not have blue in front. Including FDNY, NYSP & NYPD & hatzalah volunteer ambulance service. Only federal or the MTA have blue in front. But rarely did I ever come across it
