Actually sanitation is not a factor since there is a “limit” in other words the place literally has to be super filthy every day and maybe they get shut down. The way it works is the government will send private investigators and they will issue a warning for violations they committed and any unsanitary conditions. They will then give them a specific amount of time to fix the issue maybe like a couple weeks or months. After that they come back, re-evaluate the issues and pass. In America everything is a crime and you get a chance to prove you can change, whether it be for a couple months or years, you know what they say “money talks”.
99.9% of animals people eat are terminally ill. They are merely kept alive long enough to get them to slaughter by the use of powerful antibiotics and other medications. Think cancer patient in a 3rd world prison on death row. That's their life. The mental stress alone is enough to create physical illness in the body. But on top of this they live in tiny cells that serves as their dining room, bedroom and toilet at the same time. They live not only in their own filth but surrounded by thousands of other animals also living in filth. And to make it even worse they mostly eat horrible grain based diets that often include chopped up "downer" animals. But yeah you're 100% right. It's very unsafe to eat sick animals. About 1 in 3 people gets cancer, 1 in 3 people gets heart disease, 1 in 3 people gets diabetes. And on and on the list goes. Humans are by far the sickest animals in nature. How many apes get heart disease or diabetes. Like 1 in a million. Virtually non existent.
@@arcrides6841 In the US. it has been against the law to mass administer antibiotics to livestock since 2017. A vet would need to individually prescribe for each animal.
@@boredalmonds4363 You’re mostly right, but actually eggs or chickens that say cage-free are usually raised in large, crowded warehouses. The best label to look for is pasture-raised or grass-fed. Or just buy from a farmers market or local farm, it supports them and ensures a much better life for the animal, and on average is a lot cheaper because of the lower demand.
This has broken my heart... This should be a wake up call.. This is why any and all animal meat producing companies need cctv in all its facilities to stop this barbaric treatment.. We should all be ashamed of this
If anyone is interested watch a documentary called: Sharkwater.... Absolutely sad. I cried. Many people don't realize that sharks aren't actually dangerous. Your more likely to get killed by a falling vending machine or a crocodile than a shark.
The whole industry of animals for food is just horrific, saw a really informative documentary called Dominion about factory farming a few months ago and it’s just awful, made me becoming vegan a lot easier.
Yeah you can't treat living beings like that. I've worked on salmon trollers (not trawlers) for years and found most of them are families fishing small time who respect the fish and the ocean and would stand up for the forests too because it's all connected. Thanks for this coverage.
@@valid_sound_and_furious961 Good point. You got me. We respect them yet we still club them and eviscerate them? That's why I am a vegetable farmer now. Now I can plant back instead of just all taking.
@@valid_sound_and_furious961well no one is probably gonna eat you unless they are a bear or something which then they would maul you and consume you alive.
Too bad that no one really cares. It's aweful, and horrific, but stories like these have been in the media for years, we all know about how cows, pigs, chickens and any other creatures are usually tortured and scared, all for our insatiable appetite. Nobody thinks twice about the cow that was their burger, and it's nice that vegans are trying, but it's moot. There would have to be radical change, and that just isn't profitable. Boycott is the only way to change anything, and again, there's just not enough people doing so to make any significant impact. Remember McDonald's sells to billions and billions.
Humans are horrible. We have no limits on anything. We do everything for profit. This will need to change at the consumer end now. If consumers stop demanding, supply requirements will reduce.
I think humans won't be great food for farming. They take too long to reproduce, and their body meat content is low. You want a specie that spawn fast and mature fast for food. Humans would make great slaves tho. We have arms to perform many duties.
Nope. A, Humans would be a terrible food source. It takes 14 years for us to be able to breed, and we don’t have much meat. B, If aliens had the technology to travel lightyears to our planet, they have the technology (AKA Robots) to farm, and do work.p. Humans would riot and revolt, and humans require food, robots don’t, so we aren’t becoming slaves.
@@Ascend777 Natural chickens only lay approximately 12 eggs/year and their meat content is low. Natural cows don't lactate so much and they don't grow so fat, either. So what makes you think that an alien species wouldn't be able to alter us for their convenience? Chickens nowadays can't even support their own weight and they collapse with broken legs on the floors of factory farms. Same could happen to humans.
So the Cooke family said they are implementing changes in the way they treat the fish, well they forgot that they also need to find a way for them to live a healthy life up until the point they are slaughtered. They are suffering from even before they are born, having. Funguses growing on the eggs. Smfh
This is what happens when you allow a young industry to grow at uncontrollable pace. Honestly I’m not surprised if bad farming practices like this occur in other farms but it’s misleading to suggest that all fish farms operate the same exact way as this US salmon farm.
The corporate executives wouldn't even go into the farms for fears of ruining their Armani suits and Gucci bags. Without the workers, the farm wont last an hour.
I've never seen such horror of humanity for animals like this before my entire life. They act like as if fish are just some kind of doll to just throw, stamp, and make fun of. I honestly could literally kill a person because of this.
Honestly Fish Aquaculture is a good idea. Unfortunately replicating something as technical as the ocean is not easy. There is always bad seeds in every kind of industry. Personally the saltwater open water cages produces the best fish and life for the fish. There are plenty of ways to dispatch a fish humanely that certainly take less effort than what was shown here.
The fish they don't want they could at least put them in ponds and rivers to allow them to recover and get bigger so local fishermen can feed their families. But nope they just throw them in the trash.
The choice is yours to make. I’ve given up all animal products except honey and feel 10 years younger. Fruits , veggies , beans , grains and nuts are all I need .
If we eat suffering , our bodies inside will suffer . We are what we eat . This cruelty is unacceptable but changing people's mindsets is extremely difficult.
@NowThis News Excuse me, can you change the title of this video? Remove ' ' from the word cruel. It isn't a question if it's cruelty or a debate. It is cruelty. How dare you mock the suffering of living beings, accept that this is 100% wrong and remove that punctuation mistake at once.
I can't imagine what they're doing to their gene strain with all the stress, fungal conditions, and vaccinations. It's already bad enough salmon are sensitive to subtle changes in their natural environment; this fishery disgraces their life history.
Thare are 8 billion people on this world an those people eat 3 meals a day 365 day in a year so if 4 billion people eat fish every day all fish will go extinct these farms show a small glimpse compared to fishing in the wild ocean river an lakes some one better make another Noah's Ark
Many fish farms actually work for the state and repopulate fish to be released back into the environment the other half are sold in markets. This may sound cruel to most people but remember some fish are let loose into the wild so it balances out.
Fish farms are very detrimental for wild fishes, which is why they are being banned in some places. Vast numbers of wild-caught fishes are used as feed for farmed fishes. Fish farming isn't a solution, it's a huge part of the problem.
For so long I've committed in my mind, that fish don't feel pain or suffer as land dwelling creatures do. It was all i could tell myself to ease the sting of how we raise and butcher them. This new insight is crushing my heart. The world needs to know.
Karma will get those imbeciles whom are torturing sentient animals. Then again it is already at work, evidenced by the powerless intellectually impaired workers whom do anything to make a buck whilst taking out their frustration on a truly helpless fish, as they can not touch their powerful masters.
Americas (vast majority) do not believe in karma. I believe the people of india do. Why dont you preach to them. We are americans, we are better because of our value system that animals are below humans. Eat the animal, protect humans
I am not vegetarian but against domestication of animals! I would hunt and eat a wild creature.. who lived a natural full life in a real environment! But this! This is a crime 🤢
I can't. I just can't watch this anymore. I'm glad people are shining a light on it, and bringing awareness to it. The way we treat animals is unconscionable. Humans are the worst ever.
That's the only way. But the average human likes to find backdoors when their comfort and ignorance is being threatened. So they start looking for justifications for their actions by saying idiotic things like: _Lions eat other animals, too_ . (But they're against anything else that the lion does) _Animal based products are needed for a healthy diet_ . (But they have no problem eating junk food, and also it's been proven that you can live healthily on a well planned wfpb diet) _Plants feel pain_ . (Although the animals that they consume eat a lot more plant matter than the average human would. Therefore, supposedly causing pain to both animals and the plants that the animal consumes) After 7 years of being vegan, I can certainly say that this list is never ending. When I think I heard it all, some other convoluted and absurd argument appears from around the corner. Safe to say I haven't found one that couldn't be debunked.
@@aabracadavra well said my friend. I pray every day for peace in the animal slaughter houses and factory farms, I'm sick over the suffering they go through everyday, the only thing that helps is volunteering at a farm sanctuary, at least the few have peace. we have to keep up the conversation no matter what . the animals need us to speak up. keep the faith.

Can we get some sources on the study of pain receptors of fish because i’ve read the opposite of what this video stated. For you internet warriors, Im not saying that what is done to the fish is okay and as a matter of fact no living creature should be treated that way, but if they are going to state facts it would be nice to have some sources so we can further educate ourselves.
I never said i thought they don’t fell pain (i don’t know where you got that from), but what im saying is if they are going to state certain facts it would be nice to have some sources. I did some research on how fish experience pain about 6 or so years ago and from what I read their nervous system isn’t as complicated as ours and their brains don’t register pain as we do. We experience pain as an actually physical and emotional feeling that stays with us for the duration of lives, while they register it more like “hey there is something wrong I should avoid using/doing that for a while” type pain. They did mention a study by somebody I would like to read that peer review and further educate myself.
It makes me sick, humanity is the cancer of this world we treat everything so badly and disregard of life for profit keeping everything in places we're they suffering there entire lives. We will never learn I can't help feel that every thing would be better off with out us on this planet, we have had chance after chance to change to turn things around we will never learn. All hope is lost
@@fredpimpstone7024 they do lol when cleaner wrasse fish pluck parasites and dead skin from fishes . It sometimes can get stuck in there so when they pull it out it’s painful causing the fish to squirm. Squirming indicated uncomfortable, pain can also cause discomfort
They don't. The "scientist" is a paid shill who will say whatever they tell her to say. Money talks. Ironically it's also why this lamenting of fish deaths won't amount to anything.
@@Yournansaman supremecy does not mean abuse. It is the duty of the strong to protect the weak. When will people stop using God as an exuse for their cruelty.
I at least appreciate many of the workers are trying to be real and admitting they got desensitized in the process (because they just needed a job for the bills) and that they don't really like it. That goes to show me if you rattle the right cages that change is totally possible.
