Good question -- I'm not positive what happens here, but I know in a real-life sanctioned tournament a no-show results in a loss with -50 spread points. Either way, he surely didn't get positive spread for his missed game, so an impressive accomplishment regardless! As for the bye, I believe the tournament was even then two folks (one of whom was Andrew) asked to join after the first round was already underway. So then Josh added them both starting round 2, and both of them started with a 0-1 record and some zero or negative spread.

I originally gave no penalty for a late entry, but doing so messed up the standings so that someone who was 1-0 after 5 rounds was in 1st place over someone who was 4-1. There seemed to be no way to make it so that it was the number of wins that determined placement, not the number of losses, so since then I have made late joiners lose 1 game and 50 spread for each game they missed, which as Mack states is the standard approach at tournaments.

That's a great idea! And even if he can block he probably has to sacrifice a considerable amount of equity to do so. I'm not sure it's actually better than WAX since WAX scores like 30 more points and also has a better bingo leave -- I probably average like 60-70 if IXORAS stays open, and I feel like I probably average at least 40 after WAX since even though the board is tight after WAX he often opens at his deficit and I get to bingo. Either play I think puts me in extremely commanding shape though, awesome find!
