Underfell Asgore Fight (Pacifist)

That was the BEST and most INTENSE Underfell fan battle I have EVER seen. Please, when you have time, make more of this.

I absolute adore this fight. For the first half of the fight, it's all simple attacks with Asgore sadistically taunting you to attack him as he takes control of the fight. He's toying with you, making you dance to his rhythm and you can barely hold on. It's a constant struggle to endure and survive as he throws all his evil deeds in your face. But halfway through, Asgore runs out of taunts. He runs out of ways to manipulate you into playing by his rules. He's thrown everything at you psychologically, which should have driven you into a self righteous rage...and yet, you still refuse to fight. Not because you forgive or pity him. But because you. do. not. KILL. At this point, the music switches to a more heroic and determined version as Asgore is forced to resort to violence to try and make you fight, going as far as to savagely destroy your buttons one by one. And yet, you still never fight. Even when the only option is FIGHT, you cheat the system, taking advantage of the mechanics to force no damage. By the very end, you force Asgore into defeat. Not through violence...but through sheer and utter DETERMINATION. Because that is DETERMINATION: standing by who you are and your ideals until the very end!

I know people tend to harp on Underfell for being '2edgy4me', but the existence of this AU actually raises something of a quandary: Can you be merciful to the merciless? In the vanilla Undertale, it's easy to want to spare the monsters in the game because they're not bad people. They're good hearted and kind characters who are only fighting you because of circumstance. The only objectively evil character you can spare is Flowey, and that's an appropriately difficult decision because, unlike all the other characters, there is serious doubt that he even deserves your mercy. Now take Underfell where that doubt is placed on the entire civilization. Suddenly it becomes a lot harder to justify your pacifism. Suddenly it becomes near impossible to justify not killing anyone, not even in self defense. It's like Flowey says in the main game: What will you do when a relentless killer is after you? In the main game, that only really applies to Flowey. In Underfell, it applies to everyone.

i like how when you first press the fight button, Asgore looks excited then as you continue to miss he gets more and more frustrated

Asgore: there is no good in me, not after all the things I've done. Me: Darth Vader said the same thing, but look how he redeemed himself.

For all the "edginess" of Underfell, I find it very interesting. Undertale is meant to upthrow RPG norms by framing you as a psychopath for killing sympathetic-looking monsters, simply because you're used to it in game world. It experiments with the border between fiction and reality, and it's very easy to run it on Pacifist, because no one really wants to kill, let alone genocide. But the one turning point of Undertale where it becomes an amazing game is when you're faced with Flowey, and you realize that he's soulless and evil, no questions asked. And you have the choice to forgive him yet. That was the most intense moment, because that wasn't easy. Underfell is this. It's a true moral challenge because it's about empathy in a loveless world. Running a hypothetical Underfell game on Pacifist wouldn't be the expectation. It would be a true trial of faith.

The thing is, as you watch Asgore say that he has committed these monstrous crimes... the fact that he's calling them crimes in the first place is evidence that there's some good in him somewhere. He practically begs the player to attack him and kill him. Because that would be a sense of heroic justice being done. His impatience is where he still believes that not killing him would be more torturous. As though living with the guilt is the worst kind of agony, being unable to go back and change it and thus stuck with the evil path. As though refusing to fight and letting him live is a truer evil, because you enjoy his suffering in his guilt. A true evil has no guilt.

this was the best thing ever like, Asgore is already my favorite undertale character, so when my favorite goat dad (edge version) became good, i actually teared up. Thank you. More people need to see Asgore as a giant lovable goat rather that a child killer. also my username is really ironic lol

I really appreciate the little detail when asgore first made you attack. His eyes following the bar and his wide grin like: "Yes! He's finally attacking!" The transition from that to the immediate disappointed look was really well done!

You know you've done an excellent job when the viewer is able to feel pity and empathy for a murdering and psychopathic man progressing through a catharsis. Absolutely fantastic story writing, whoever did it. Beautiful animations as well. And as long as it's quality, I wouldn't mind waiting 10 years if I had to, that's how amazing this was.

Someone else said it better than me somewhere in this comment section. But they're right! This world isnt about being "E D G Y", its about the gravity and weight that comes with absolute mercy and unconditional kindness. You could almost make a metaphor out of the monsters acting as we all expect monsters to act, bloodthirsty and cruel; with the existential question to ask yourself "Can you spare a murderer? A manipulator and abuser? A merciless tyrant?" As Undertale makes clear, not all problems can be solved by being kind and showing mercy. But to carry the determination to hope for the best in those of the worst is what truly makes a message like this so great. Some people cant be saved, and some even are beyond redemption and forgiveness. But if we never reach our hand out to save them, as far as our arms length will allow... Then they will not be able to reach our hands in return. We must be determined to carry the hope of change for the better, so that when they lose their way, we will be there to bring them back from the depths of their own hellish nightmares. Reach out your hand to your enemies, and if they refuse, reach further still. Never give up. Carry a smile and show them that you are here for them. To save them from themselves. "You cannot save them all, but not all of them are beyond your reach. So never lose hope, and keep saving those that reach back. Be a hero PLUS ULTRA!" And most of all. *STAY DETERMINED

I'm stunned. Fight seemed a bit too hard in my opinion...but I'm guessing all fights in Underfell have high difficulty. The more hateful a monster, the more lethal their attacks. And yes, Asgore...you're going to need to fix that floor pattern. Get some light in there. ...not that it matters, some monster is going to assassinate him for what he's done at some point. Probably Toriel.

Guys. Real talk. Animation is a hobby for me. I prefer quality over quantity. I won't always have time to work on my animations. I appreciate your enjoyment of my work, so I ask you to be patient. It'll probably take a year or so to create those things. But trust me, I like breaking you guys into tears. It amuses me. So to deliver a grand tale of Underfell, once I've completely finish this series. By the end of it, I expect a storm of tears flooding my channel. Until then, that is but a fantasy. Come to think of it, this is the moral opposite of undertale, because in undertale, everyone's pretty much good-hearted, so it's easy to spare them, but harder to kill them. in underfell, everyone is evil-hearted, so it's harder to spare them, but easier to kill them. Then again, I prefer neutral route on both anyway.

I love this ending for UnderFell. It holds a powerful message just like UnderTale does, but has a different ending. This ending feels to be just as good, if not better, then the original.

I love this story!! This was amazing! I understand and respect that there are many situations in the real world where fighting may be necessary, and there are people who, through what they have had to face growing up, have learned to live life in a hostile way. I, on the other hand, am a pacifist, myself. Though I know that it may not always work out, I live my life this way in _faith_ that it will, because believing in others fills me with... well... DETERMINATION! There have been many people who have done terrible things and never shown any desire to change, but I have heard real-life stories of people who were so steeped in hatred changing because someone showed them love, even when they did not deserve it. I heard a story of a Ku Klux Klan leader being offered sympathy and understanding by a rabbi whom the Klansman had previously threatened. Over years, eventually the Klansman invited the rabbi to his home, and revealed in tears that he did not want to be in the Klan anymore and did not know what to do to get off the path he was on. The Klansman was ill and disabled, and the rabbi and his family invited the former Klansman to live with them for the rest of his life. He had spent most of his long life in hatred and ignorance, but the last few months of his life were a testament to love and forgiveness. Forgiveness and mercy do not mean ignoring what someone has done, and they do not mean letting someone continue to do wrong. Sometimes one needs to defend oneself and to defend others. As canon Sans put it, being a pacifist does not mean being totally innocent or completely naive, only that you always keep a tenderness in your heart and make a commitment not to harm others. It is so satisfying to so many people to see bad things happen to those who have done bad things, but I get the greatest satisfaction from stories of redemption and rehabilitation. Stories like this one. I know that I cannot prove it, and I do not blame anyone for not sharing the following belief, but I truly believe that EVERYONE can be saved. I truly believe in my heart that even the worst person can become a good person, given the right environment. They may need to be forced to stop doing harm first, but this can almost always be done without destroying them, and once they are no longer a threat, I believe that many of the worst people are ignorant and in great pain, and these can be relieved with understanding and kindness.

The dialogues are divine and the story is deep! I love the ideas in battle and in the story as well. Also, The latter part made me cry sooo much... Well to me this animation is by far the longest but the best I've ever seen. Seriously, 34 minutes that's impossible! Your results of your efforts are prodigious, and once again, mind blown. This should happen in the (fan)game!

I remember watching this a while ago and saw it in my recommended so I decided to re-watch it. This is one simplest yet most well made animation out there. The fact that you put in the effort to animate Asgore's facial expressions when he thought frisk would finally hit him just highlights the quality of the animation. The storyline is also really good. Its really refreshing to see this.

This was an amazing animation! It's AMAZING that this was just a practice! It was epic, feel filled, and amazing all at the same time! Amazing job, man! I hope to see awesome things from you in the future! ^_^

This shows just how kind Frisk truly is. Even in a world where violence is life, Frisk still looks for the absolute best in everyone. Even Asgore, who went as far as to destroy every option other than fighting, couldn't change her belief that anyone can change. I honestly can't think of anyone who is a better example of being the sole definition of purity that Frisk. That child will always be the light of hope in a world plunged in darkness, and I wouldn't have it any other way!

So many feels right now... if a monster like Underfell Asgore can change, then maybe... maybe... maybe I might also be able to change my ways... become a better person... think of themselves as an actual human being... it's a long way but maybe I should give it another try. Thank you.

First Underfell sprite I’ve seen that’s not just a red version of the original character. Also, I get why you wanted a Pacifist Ending where you lived with Asgore, but I’m not sure how that works... does Omega Flowey come into play? It’s a really good animation... but it brings the happy ending too early in my opinion.

This was absolutely amazing. While this is the only UnderFell Asgore fight I've ever seen, nothing could ever top it. It's a beautiful mix of an angering, genocidal fight, to get you to try to kill him, but at the end it's so, so sad... This fight literally made me want to cry... Which no official UnderTale fight has done... Undyne the Undying came close, but this... This was amazing... I like how the fight doesn't even actually start until half way through, so you think you're almost done... But then you realize it's just starting... I kept finding myself smiling at small things like Flowey trying to help you fix the buttons... And the altered story behind Asriel is amazing. I never would have ever thought of something like that... In my own, personal version of UnderFell, in the Pacifist route Asgore would spare you, absorb a human soul, and take you to the surface. Promising to stop killing humans. However, I wasn't super happy with that... This though, is amazing. Also, both the Flowey and Asgore sprites were some of the best I've seen. Since this is already probably like a couple hundred words long, and I could sit here all day listing off everything good about this animation... I'm going to point out a few nitpicks and things I particularly didn't really like. -I'm a little disappointed this isn't an actual fight, however, I understand coding is hard, so I understand why it is an animation. -The tear above Flowey's left eye (from our perspective his right) could be moved left a little, so it doesn't obstruct his eye, and it looks like somebody tried to kill him. -Asgore's cloak should be a little frayed, and I kinda dislike that it frays up. -If this wasn't an animation, I would probably use the default fonts, rather then the more whimsical ones. -I didn't really like Asgore's overworld sprite. This comment is probably like 200-500 characters long, so I'm going to stop here. Though this fight was absolutely amazing, and just know, I was just nitpicking a bit, this fight is nit bad by any means, and I look forward to seeing some of your future animations.

"Why do you think there is good in me?" me: "Because... You regret the death of Chara. You have been cruel only because of your past mistakes. The past can't be changed, but... You can help make a brighter future for others. You could help them instead of hurting them from your regretful mistakes. You... can Save them." Wow That was deep of me.

One the one hand, this is pretty much what I was imagining for Asgore and his throne room when I started playing Undertale. I was expecting an insurmountable demon king in a black and red throne room. On the other hand, just about every other sentence that came out of his mouth had me thinking "Okay, Edgelord". Still, the fight was really cool. Some of those attacks were pretty creative.

Due to the uncertainty of the whole COPPA thing, I decided to age restrict this. If I deem this law could fine me, I'll have to relocate my animation onto somewhere else. However, if this law no longer puts my animation at risk of a fine, I'll undo the age restriction. So for now, until I can safely show my animation, every animation I do will be age restricted.

My only problem (if you wanna call it a problem) Is that the damage in inconsistent and the character near always ends every attack with 1 HP. It really defeats the purpose of the stress. Besides that this was freaking awesome.

This is even more emotional than anything in undertale.

I honestly love the ending to Underfell. At least, this ending. Frisk in this AU most likely tried to run away from humanity because the humans were no better than the monsters, yet all they got was perhaps an even worst version than their worst nightmare. And now... They're happy. They have friends. They have Goat Dad. Such an ending... I'm crying it's so nice

This is a really awesome story, you're basically playing through a world brought to its current state through its king's uncontrolled descent into nihilism following the death of his children, and convincing the inhabitants of this world of the meaning and value of life, not only for the denizens of the kingdom, who gave up long ago, but even for the king himself, and helping those people move forward. Whoever came up with this did a really great job.

I'm not even sure if this was intentional, but here's a cool detail I noticed about the fight: In Undertale, a monster's soul and ideals usually reflect their stats. Take Sans for example, someone who is characterized by his laziness, depressive attitude, and unwillingness to fight. His stats are 1. If you eat a butterscotch pie in front of Asgore in the base game, his attack stat is reduced. Obviously, the pie itself didn't inflict a status effect on him or something like that; you ate it, after all. No, his stats reduce because he's remembering Toriel. He's losing his will to fight. In Underfell Asgore's context, his defense stat is reducing throughout the fight because he, at least unconsciously, cannot live with the atrocities he's committed. He knows how much of a horrible person he is, and, as the battle progresses, is practically _begging_ for the player to kill him. His defense isn't lowering because he's becoming more wild and unpredictable. Asgore's defense is lowering because he _literally wants to die._

After seeing this, now Underfell feels more like a corrupt timeline of undertale, rather than it's own universe.

You know, there are several flaws, such as the inconsistant damage, attack patterns and a few others, but I don't even remember those other flaws, because the qualities of this video made me forget them. This was more than great, and even though I'm ashamed to admit that I like Underfell related content... screw it! This might be the best thing to come out of Underfell, it even made me more open-minded to it. Sure it's REALLY edgy, and genocide Underfell is hilariously stupid (mostly since monsters hate you for killing despite saying «It's killed or be killed.» all the time), but the pacifist run of Underfell is beautiful when done right, and could make for a challenging game in terms of both gameplay and psychology. Overall, this is very well made depite the forgetable flaws, and while Underfell ain't got shit on Undertale, I might look more into it as long as it's not genocide bullcrap.

So Asgore is the Final Boss of the normal Route. Sans in the Pacifist Route right? And then Flowey in the Genocide Route.

Hey man, that was AWESOME!! It's the most INTENSE Undertale AU fight I've ever seen!! So, I would like to know if you would let me do a spanish voice over for this. Would you?

Actually, i'm used to think *THIS* is how Asgore was right after the loss of both sons in the OG game. You know, something in his regular "uplifting" attitude was feeling wrong, like he was trying to forget *something* and change after *something* in his past, redeeming his sins by behaving that way. I believe that Asgore was, like, in form of this bloodthirsty monstrosity when the War between Monsters and Humans took place, slaughtering unspeakable amount of humans to safe his people and give them an opportunity to hide beneath the mt. Ebott. After this, he was devastated by the grief of ending so many lives, even for saving his monsters, and tried to change to the opposite personality type. But the death of his sons made him relapse, and as soon as Toriel saw Asgore in his "Past" or "True" form, she couldn't stay with him any longer.

Damn this....this was an amazing piece of work. This alone can prove that humanity can change no matter how evil. This world is an amazing thing where we have the ability to love and forgive. We must never forget that.

I always thought it was a bit flawed of Undertale to make the pacifist run so easy, doing good is hard, the world doesn't care if you are good or evil, and often to inflict suffering is the easy path. True, the genocide run is plenty easy as well, but I feel like the world of Undertale itself is too forgiving. Despite trying to show it's dark corners and seem like a place of moral ambiguity ultimately good and love are the most powerful forces in the underground. I want a game that is painful, a game that hurts you for doing the right thing, that beats you and calls you foolish for trying to not participate int he suffering all around you and tells you that you are simply being naive. Undertale had shades of this but growing up as someone in our society who is strange, different and doesn't fit with the order of things it really is nothing compared to what many experience in this life.
