Jason thanks for the show and learning!A couple here in Central Colorado bought a Mine and the man that owned it told them the Small gold mine ran out of placer. They went only 4 feet more and struck it rich .only 4 feet at the end of the mine 3 oz. per ton.I wonder how many mines are like that ?Just a few feet more and the payout is WOW! Many of us in Colorado watch you and crazy Dan and Colorado prospector thanks!!!!!!!!!

Great video. Good job with the new light. The bad video lighting comes from shadows on your face. It's most likely hard to bounce light off the walls. The new light works pretty well if you face the light. It's fine as you walk around. Your spotlight isn't the greatest. I'm not an expert on mine lighting. Brent has a extremely bright light he uses if there is enough room. I'm not sure on it's name or if it's appropriate. Maybe there is a brighter bolt on version for your hard hat. Jeff has good luck filming, but his wife films during exploration. Anyway...thanks again and good luck!!! P.S. - The rock saw stuff is fun to see. Also, it's a good way to make some money as Dan suggests. Also, FYI I used more than one light to fill for video. I used 3 in a still setting. Two in front reflected and a fill light top and behind. You can't carry all that stuff in my opinion.

I hope you have time to film the process of rehabbing and bringing the old mine up to modern safety standards. It won't be as flashy as running ore through the plant, but I still am interested in the process to get to a "ready to start mining" stage.

@william-Bartee I have found a few nasty snakes in caves. You will on occasion see gators just running down a trail. Or big ol rattle snakes. Keeps you on your toes.
@tireballastserviceofflorid7771
@william-Bartee I'm originally from Missouri. I'm an expert on copperheads. Those things are nasty. My first ever hunting trip in Florida was a wake up call for me. I went down a trail looked around and walked back. Found a big bear track right next to my foot print. Less than 5 minutes. My second trip I had a 5 foot gator just running right at me on a trail fast. Almost shot it before it turned. I was thinking this sure ain't Missouri...

That flood light is real nice. Really does good illumination and more importantly is shows good color separation. The worst part of most mine videos is you cannot see the color of the wall rock and ore material. The spectrum of that light seams to do well.

Dont forget about scrapping the iron waste. You will have a lot of delivery on trucks that would be able to transport it to a metal buyer. Should be cheaper since they usually leave empty. Could you reuse the plastic pipes to carry water away? It was fun seeing the microscopic gold. Slow down the camera movement it will help the focus. Focus is usually imaged in the center of the screen, some devices allow manual focus. You might want to be more off-center when your camera is stationary. And dont wave your hand towards the center it will change the focus.

Jason, you might have mentioned this and I didn't get it, but the most important question to answer, is why did the previous miners stop working the claim and did anyone else try to mine it before you discovered it? The lighting was lots better. Keep up the great work you are doing.
@juststeve7665
@juststeve7665 Год назад
At the start of WW2 all mining was stopped. Then in the 80s when gold prices started rising some mining resumed but if profits weren't high enough it was abandoned. Now the gold prices are 10x what they were then so it makes mining more attractive. You can see from the black plastic and white plastic pipe that this mine was worked some probably in the 1980s or later. Now the price of gold is great but the EPA, USFS etc permitting process and fees and reclaimation bonds that have to be funded before permits are approved cause many to give up. I looked into filing a claim on an old but very profitable mine but was informed that I would be held responsible for environmental cleanup and restoration of all past workings I backed out. LOL Now I have just learned of another very profitable mine in great condition, still has all the equipment intact including a working mill... so maybe I'll take the chance? The government is the biggest obstacle at this point.

With all the timber you need to bring in, as well as your ore & waste rock, I think it'd be worth the time & expense of running track - I guess you'd need to estimate the cost vs the values you pull out - obviously Justin at TVR could probably give you an idea of costs for rehabbing, running track etc. I guess the other approach would be to just high-grade along the vein and only take your paydirt out via wheelbarrow. But getting that mine up to MSHA requirements seems like a big enough project to justify rail.

I thought the lighting was much improved. It also helps with autofocus on your cameras. Autofocus doesn't like dark scenes. In fact cameras do not like super bright scenes either, like where a bright flashlight is pointing. I teach my students that cameras can't even come close to doing what the human eye sees and the human brain perceives. Especially in simultaneously dark and well lighted scenes. It's our job I as photographers to use tips and tricks, to get the light more even, some of which go back hundreds of years to get the camera to record the scenes just right. That's why the flood light worked so well this time because you're evening out the very bright and the very dark where cameras have the most difficulty capturing scenes. Keep doing what you're doing man! I really enjoy this channel because I learn a lot.

Hi Jason, nice video! maybe try using some concrete mix for all the entrances to the mine? it doesn't have to be the strongest, maybe a mix 1:4:5 of cement, sand (tailings maybe?) and coarse gravel (it can be from the site) so it's easier to enter and exit the mine, it also may work for making a more solid platform for loading and unloading the truck. As you mentioned, its probably better to make a little trench in the side for water evacuation, a humid mine is good but not a flooded one, in winter if the water freezes, the expansion may create cracks in the rock and reduce over time the structural integrity of the whole structure. Last but not least, the lower vein may not be rich in gold, but maybe other metals that at the time where not as attractive, so some testing will benefit you for assesing what can you extract from it.
@Porty1119
@Porty1119 Год назад
I run a small underground mine and I have to say that those are all pretty good ideas! Some mines around me were only properly explored for gold and silver, but actual work revealed copper, zinc, and lead. For dewatering low-lying areas, small pneumatic diaphragm pumps are cheap. I used one to pump out a previously flooded crosscut we use to store development waste when we don't have a truck and operator to haul it topside. Concrete in the shop/laydown might work. If shot rock is used, proper compaction will help make it more pleasant to work on.
