LOL!! Dude, they don't just scream like regular people scream. There is a special technique that most vocalists in this genre use that does not harm your vocal chords. I know first-hand since I was the vocalist in a similar band for quite a few years and my voice is perfectly fine. Haha.
I saw them live like this without Aaron man.. I'm glad he's back now.. but even if I was Spencer doing the cleans for years when Aaron did.. that vibe they had.. you can just tell in his heart he misses him singing behind that kit and having that real chemistry like they did in the Survive: Kaleidoscope live dvd. Now that they're back together I wish they'd throw together more of that vibe. They've lost it I feel.. but none the less.. I'm not gonna dig deeper. They are amazing artists and they are still doing what they love and I would give my life to be in their shoes playing in front of thousands of people still to this day ❤ Much love. But come on! - Write a banger along the lines of that old school vibe! 😜 Am I right?! Haha Cheers! 🍻
there are some songs where spencer will do aaron's parts and completely nail them (in regards to myself is one) but i guess this just isn't one of those songs, haha. i still think he sounds good here, but this song is definitely better suited for aaron's voice.
It gets the job done, Underoaths music has a lot of screaming in it and its very hard to sing in tune onset when your tearing your vocal chords. Spencer has no doubt destroyed his by now, just go back to they're only chasing safety and listen to the parts he sings in. He sounded much different then up to now (even Define the Great Line for that matter).
It would be funny if this was spencers funny way of mocking bands like bless the fall and escape the fate, etc lol. Those bands started to sprout after underoath got really big
